Storytime involving Atomic Comics shit talk tournament kid -

I’m at Atomic Comics in Mesa and some douche was chatting up employees about how he got MvC3 early (it was about a week and a 1/2 till release) and how much of a badass he was. When I asked him if he was on SRK or played against any of the crew he said “No, I only play for fun”.
We had a talk about MvC2 and he proceeded to tell me how awesome he was with his characters (which included 2 low tier characters). Being the quiet person I am, I told him he was full of shit, laughed at him and walked away.
Friday night-
I drop off a SFIICE cab with a SFA1 marquee running an SFA3 CPS2 at Atomic Comics in Mesa and stick the fucker on free play for a few hours for the regulars and employees while I run some errands. When I come back, I see some scrub playing it whom I proceed to destroy 5 of 5 games. I realized it was the same scrub from a month ago after he said “I’m not used to playing with a stick this ass” or whatever he said that I ignored.
He then tells me how he got 3rd in the Atomic tournament and placed whatever at the MS store tournament and how his friend got 1st in the Atomic tournament. When I ask him if anyone from SRK showed up, he says “Oh yeah Sabre and a few other guys came and whined cause Sentinel wasn’t unlocked and left” and then talked a bunch more shit.
I LOL now, but then I wanted to punch him in the face. Not to stick up for SRK, but because he was annoying.
Thought I’d share.

frank, thats hilarious. dude was talking mad shit. whats funny is i dont use sentinel. i use taskmaster and hsienko. hardly sentinel level. dude talked shit, and i was like “ill money match your ass, any amount” pussy wouldnt accept.
i guess i expect nothing less from atomic comics…
So after a long day, got the stream PC built, and finally got the capcard working properly. got the stream up, but its very preliminary. it was late so I left. the quality is not very good due to massive horizontal lines, possibly due to the gamefeed being 1080i. so im sure its the interlaced signal causing it. we got a lot of optimizations to do. but we atleast got the first couple steps out of the way. next step is getting the software to grab the audio and improving video quality
Haha nah, Theo will not be attending me with this trip. It’s alright though, I’m down to body AZ on my own. Heheh…jk. I’ll let you know when I’m gonna be leaving and we can exchange numbers bro!

My general apathy towards games lately, mixed with the constant complaints from people about MvC3, has made me less motivated to try hard in this game past having fun. Watching Final Round was pretty awesome though and that coupled with my first visit to Haz’s last night makes me really rethink my approach toward this game.
riding the bandwagon and putting tron on my team…flame assist is too good. should just run my old mvc2 team lmao.
jon, just play. fuck what others say. i have issues with the game. i may spout it out at times. but i still heavily enjoy the game. most people are enjoying it regardless.
btw, fuck ps3 mvc3. after watching and playing very little of that version at hazems, i never wanna touch it again =/

Just for the record, although AZHP does occasionally do tournaments at Atomic Comics locations, we had NOTHING to do with this MvC3 tournament a few weeks ago.
Next time you’re at Atomic Comics in Mesa be sure to put in a few quarters and help support AZHP and I putting more arcade games in your local comic shops.
I’m gonna be putting brand new Happ sticks and Semitsu buttons within the next two weeks.
Perhaps we can do a mini tourney at some point?

god, are we back to having to hear people complain about what system the games gonna be played on…
seems that way. i havent had any issues with playing mvc3 on my ps3. even if i did, im not gunna buy a 360 for one game anyway. ill just deal with it. still loving the game. havent been able to play to much. but its spring break so i dont have school to worry about this week. so im gunna be playing like mad this week. if anyone wants to come over on thursday after 5pm let me know.
also, thinking about putting she hulk back on my team. after seeing how i should play her by combo and wong last night.
i know i will bitch about it. constant frame drops are acceptable now too for tournament play? last thing i want to deal with is having an execution error cuz i executed during dropped frames and it didnt accept my input. the amount of bitching at fr was pretty crazy.
i just dont get why people keep insisting on using inferior versions of a game in tourneys. oh wait, everyone claims rrod. too unreliable. which is crap. levelup and many other majors running on xb just fine.
but i guess people are adamant on playing a console with massive frame drops and a low usb poll rate which adds lag. sounds awesome! =) …
Muji, I can relate completely. I’ve been really apathetic about fighting games lately. After playing MVC3 when it first came out. I was really bummed out about the game. I haven’t spent more then 2 hours in training mode. After watching final round last night and getting my ass kicked by Arnulfo on Friday. I decided just to have fun with it.
Overall it’s a really fun game to play with people, I kinda forgot that because online has been horrible for me on ps3. I’m probably going to trade in my copy for a 360 one today.

Is you streaming PC something that is portable? Meaning can it be brought to AIAB for our tournaments? Not that I am really interested in adding more stuff into the tight space, but thought I would ask.
This one is not. I mean. Pc’s can be moved. But its perfectly possible to do a stream on a laptop as long as you got a viable external capcard
That’s a good idea regarding the AIAB tourney possibly being streamed. That sounds like a “winning” situation.
I don’t see how the PC isn’t portable.

Been to plenty of LANs in my days, I can pack that shit up and have it ready in 10 minutes flat.
It becomes a pain in the butt after a while. I didnt go to lan’s every week cuz i got tired of moving shit all the time. If fools have a decent laptop and a good external cap card. You can get a basic stream up
What kind of Bandwidth do you need? Because our T1 will be going away any day now so all we will have is the 1.5 DSL and I assume that is only like 512 or 640k up. I doubt that’s enough for a stream anyway.
