Doctor Bryan “Dogg” Dawson MD: You have got to be shitting me. You are actually upset about my comment? I didn’t even wait to hear you complain about it, I stated it was a joke directly after I said it, just to avoid any problems, THEN I proceeded to respond to your initial inquiry. Really, it’s a fucking forum, and the nature of a forum lends itself to a level of discussion and yes, trolling, that is ultimately going to offend some people, and alternatively, entertain others. Putting yourself out here, asking about opinions, or just making yourself and your work known opens you up to criticism, constructive or otherwise. To get upset, then proceed to get silly about our opinions on the quality of your work is un-fucking-professional. Furthermore, to assume that none of us could ever do what you do, at the “quality” you do it is totally pompous and reeks of douche-baggy-assholism.

If I remember correctly I bought your SF4 book. I didn’t like it much, and I actually read all of it. You made some really silly statements in it. Then, when I asked you about it RIGHT here in the forum you made yourself available on, you told me you couldn’t talk about it publicly. Then, when I PM’d you, you told me to ask you in person. THEN when I saw you at Dev I went to your table and you were too busy to talk, so I waited and you didn’t even acknowledge my presence. So at this point, seriously, fuck you.

Now, I’m not joking.

Even though I think there was bad info in your SF4 book I STILL recommended it to people. (for those who didn’t wish to join or contribute to SRK, and of course to support a local SRK member - even if he is a dick) Then, when more of my pals from SRK worked on your next book, I got that too. As a matter of fact I about no less then 3 copies of it for myself/family and friends. So I think I am a little entitled to think whatever the fuck I want about your work, for better or worse.

ALSO, don’t think for a goddamn second I won’t tell you to your face that you are being a freaking child about this. You might be able to pull this “IRL tough guy” shit on some people, but this monkey will pull your fucking card. I have no problem telling you how I feel about your shit, or how statements you made in your books were off the mark. I have every goddamn right to.

It’s a damn shame that I would STILL recommend your SSF4 book to people, just to save them trouble of sloshing around here, but that doesn’t mean the book doesn’t have its issues. Ultimately I want to shine some light on the talented cats that did contribute to it, even if you, the main writer, totally comes off like a douche I-R-fucking-L.

Hammer you are a racist.

There now none of what you said counts for anything.

Came down with a fever yesterday, I’m convinced it’s due to sleep deprivation during MvC3 release week. Take note, kids: Don’t do drugs.

And surf boo hoo man, you quoted Wu. I’m not impressed. :frowning:

snk, that video is awesome. charles barkley is awesome!

Scott: I have no problems taking shit from my friends or even the people on SRK. The issue I have is that it seems like I can’t post here without hearing shit. That gets old fast. As I said, I posted about MK and MvC3, which had absolutely nothing to do with my work. I even ignored your friend the first time he mentioned it, but it continued to get brought up. There’s just no need for that. And the only people around when I talked to your friend at Evo were Rick and his wife. Not sure what they had to say about it, but it certainly wasn’t much different than how I described it.

Not sure what you’re hearing about the MvC3 guide. I’ve had nothing but good things to say about it. The only thing I’ve said even remotely negative in relation to the guide is about to Keits’ article. That was mainly because he didn’t give the proper credit to all of the authors. He then took it in a completely different light and thought I was asking him to edit his article to talk about my guide or something. That was his error as I never mentioned anything of the sort.

Hammer: If I ignored you I apologize, but DEV is not the place to try to ask me questions. I have a million and one things going on while I’m there. If you have something to say about the guide, I don’t have an issue with that. The issue I have is that I can’t seem to post here without someone saying something negative about it. In jest or not, it gets old… fast.

Quoting Wu is not tight anymore? Fuck you buddy, fuck you forever! The Wu will ALWAYS be tight. Sucka. Side note: I just recently donated my last pair of Wu Wear jeans :(. The wife kept saying I looked like a teenager… she’s an ass and she hurts my feelings, hahaha.

On another note, is anyone else feeling that MVC3 is too broken? Let’s ignore the Dark Phoenix and Sentinel crap. I understand the idea of allowing infinites on purpose. Balancing this type of game would have been schedule prohibitive, and the MVC2 heads wanted the combos flowing. I get that, but Akuma doing (jmp+H tatsu) x n = WTF? That is beyond retarded. I don’t see how testing would not let that shit shine. What next? I’m waiting to hear “New infinite, new char… just press Light attack fifty times in a row while holding down.” Bullshit I say. What’s the point of even learning advanced infinites with this type of shit available? No X needed, no bar required, and pure meter building the whole time. W-T-F?

rejump infinites were in mvc2 also. mainly on sentinel. its really not that big of a deal imo. sentinel still ended up the best despite that. but seriously, welcome to marvel. shits been like that since COTA

That MVC3 guide everyone is talking about is $11 on Amazon right now.

Ryan did you notice that Desk only did it on really tall characters standing?
How about that it’s just one character so far (akuma)?
Or how about akuma has very little health.

Yeah it is kinda silly, but come on. It could be worse. At least wait more than one week to call the game too broken.

Man, I’m pretty sure ken had an infinite in MvC2 and we all know how broken he was. I mean, he had an infinite. What the eff.

The main difference that i see between mvc2 and mvc3 is it is way easier to do those high damage combos in mvc3. Make the game way easier for people to pick up and learn, which is probably what capcom wanted.

Alot of the same broken stuff is in both games, it’s just easier now.

I think every character in the game has broken stuff. So while it’s not “balanced” I think everyone can win. In that sense I believe it’s balanced.

Doctor Dog: I don’t give a shit where you think the appropriate place to approach you about something is at this point. Like I said, I engaged you 3 separate times in the manner you suggested, first here, in the open forum YOU joined and made you profession known about, second in PM after YOU told me to ask you in private, then last at Dev where you were too busy to talk. That’s fine if you are too busy to talk or you have something going on, but don’t act like everyone involved in this treated you exactly the same. Frankly, I wasn’t at all insulted that you couldn’t talk at Dev, but more so, that you have the fucking nerve to act like you are above criticism or at the very least, a good ball busting. Seriously, if you can’t seem to get the idea of how to conduct yourself like a professional when it comes to dealing with shit as simple as criticism/constructive criticism, then your assessment of my ability (or anyone else’ ability for that matter) to do your job better is terribly inaccurate.

Imagine if any one of your favorite authors was as thin skinned as this. They would come off as frail and insecure. Now imagine that this wasn’t your favorite author, but instead an author you openly had slight disagreements with, but you chose to approach it in a civil and courteous manner (given the current environment), and were then blown off or disregarded. That author would come off that much more insecure and downright childish.

Now imagine that same author now proceeded to berate and insult you, and insinuate that you are both incapable of performing his duties (which you never mentioned you could do in the first place), and that you are too cowardly to approach him in person to discuss your differences.

That author is a fucking douche.

So yeah, keep writing your guides and biting and snapping when people make comments on it. It reminds us just how professional and mature you are being about your work.

oh wait…:coffee:

NOW I’m finished.

My right hand hurts from playing MVC3 all week. I have played every game in the Marvel series since the day each one came out, but I can’t seem to get used to this Tatsunoko control scheme, so I’m looking for some people to practice with this week (preferably on the east side, but I’ll go west if there is a carpool).

^ im on east side. maybe we can play on tuesday?

Before you guys go on about a game being broken try playing King of Fighters.

I’m just waiting for people to come back to AE after they realize how hard it is to play a Verses on a competitive level.

520 wouldn’t take that shyt dawwwg!

get em!

ps, marvel is awesome!

we need some matches set up!

I even fuckin thought about doin Homework b4 play, I was like, this B$ needs to stop! haha…
Yeah, marvel gonna be hard cuz you gotta be on point constant(come ez for ballers like me though PiiiiiiiimP! )

Anyone know how to deal with divekicks (Zero, Dante, Trish) in Marvel 3? I honestly have no clue where to start, I played a person who’s entire game was spamming a divekick until it landed, then keepaway until he could land another one. The only way I was able to beat it was with Sentinel’s armor through it. I anti-aired it a couple times with normals at times, but it’s 10x harder to time it correctly with the vastly different heights one could do them at in this game. Also, when I anti-aired, they would pop up so high that I couldn’t do much of a combo to punish, so it gave him no reason to not spam them. He could basically chip me out with full screen supers, then jump and divekick until it landed. The divekicks were safe on block, it seemed, so I couldn’t do anything except pushblock, in which the cycle of runaway, divekick, then combo if it hits would continue. Oh, and did I mention they can crossup into a combo, too? It was pretty frustrating. I know divekicks are strong in Street Fighter, but there’s still an inherent risk to getting uppercutted out of them. In this game, you can still get uppercutted (Assuming your character has one), but once that’s equivalent to several specials’ worth of chip and therefore a mitigated risk.

I’m at a loss, anyone have any advice? I feel like my ideas and strategies are limited to Street Fighter and I’m not thinking outside of the box.

jon, lots of pushblock dude. sometimes doing an instant airblock off the ground into air throw can work

I’m already almost there. This game feels like trying to learn a new language.

But I think that has more to do with just not liking how the game feels rather than being afraid of trying to reach a competitive level of play.
