F.A.Q. | Evo Championship Series
Sounds like PS3 is still considered the dominate system for tournaments. I’m still considering that dual-mod, though. Of course, Jedi is right here to confirm anything for Dev :0)

Hit that bass, treble, low punch? This idea rocks.
yo Armando im down with playing east side on fridays. i can provide a ps3 the game and a stick. I have a SE stick, but i havent gotten sanwa parts in it yet.
Just cuz evo uses ps3. does not mean it is the standard, or even the Dominant standard, rather. They are only using ps3 for convenience since they had ps3’s already when t5DR was on the console, and not have to spend more money.
it doesnt really matter in the end. If you truly are a serious player when it comes to competing and tourneys, you better have the tools for both systems. cuz it is very mixed in the us, especially when it comes to majors(evo isnt the only major).
The only way mvc3 will be more dominant on one console over the other is if capcom made a fatal flaw on one of the versions. But one thing is for sure, the comp will be on 360 if you go online. they already all go there for ssf4(alot of marvel players play ssf4 on xbl only), which means they will definitely go to xbl for mvc3. if you dont give a rats ass about online, then who cares. if you care about competing offline, especially in tourneys, be prepared for both consoles. simple as that
OMG!!! That PDP Pad that Sebastain made is amazing. Check it out on the front page if you haven’t seen it. LOL at the NeoGeo Pocket refrence.

I still feel the same a little bit, but put into perspective that for $56 total you’re getting a stick that you’re already comfortable on, it’s not so bad.
This I agree wholeheartedly. I have a hori stick myself so it won’t work for me, but for the people who already have the 360 madcatz sticks I think it’s a great option.
Either way, it’s still cheaper/easier than trying to re-wire all the guts of your stick to a brand new PCB or outright buying a new stick.
For LED mods, purplearmsis working on some really neat stuff.
Also ponyboyhas been selling somepretty cool buttons.
^ yeah i watched that video last night. that pad is very nice. Def wanna give it a try just to see how it plays.
These little “tournament standard” discussions always get to me, because majors like Evo are always brought up in them. To put it briefly, play on the system that will give you the most practice in your region. In AZ’s case, that’s indisputably the 360. Playing your local comp will get you ready for these majors as a player, regardless of what system you play on. Assuming you own a 360, let’s address the further two issues:
-Owning a stick/converter for the PS3: If you’ve got enough money to travel out of state for a PS3 major, pay for lodging, and the entry fees, you can afford an 80 dollar stick, or at least paying someone to borrow theirs.
-Differences in versions: If you’re good enough to travel out of state to a PS3 major, you should be good enough to adjust for 1 frame of lag after a bit of practice (AZ’s standard may be 360, but there are definitely PS3 setups out here). We’re also fortunate enough to have AE out here, so that’s a whole 'nother set of timings (not to mention it being a new game) to adjust for.
We can argue about tournament standards all we want, but I think that versatility both in and out of the game are what make a good player. I’m often inclined to complain about differences in versions and use them as a crutch for a loss, but just like me adjusting to my opponent, if I can’t adjust to the very game I’m playing I shouldn’t consider myself ready to travel for this game. Furthermore, if I can’t perform correctly without being in my comfy sofa of the exact height and playing on my tv with the exact dimensions and input lag, I should never leave said environment to travel, either.
I didn’t mean separate leds.i meant the ones around the home button.sorry
nicely said tsumuji. I feel that same way. You should be more concerned with adjusting to your opponents then the minor differences that the consoles have. You are probably never going to be able to play in the perfect environment when it really counts (tournaments, traveling ect.) A great player is one that can adapt and change to differences on the fly and come out on top.
Damn, Jon killed it. I’m going to try and get that on front page.
Haz, I love you man, but your Seth is simply the least fun thing in the world to play against.
qft. been a while since i seen somebody ask what console we were playing on, dual mod ftw!
word cory!
i hope mvc3 is on equal ground on both consoles, so no one has to worry!
I hit nominate for article. Sure, it’s not written for mass appeal, more a “shut the fuck up Arizona type thing,” but maybe it will garner interest from some-one/where/thing. Get 'em Jon! Shiat.
That or one version is so fucked up that the other becomes the standard like tekken 6 on ps3.
i thought t6 on xbox was fine. problem was, american tekken scene has an enormous pad scene, so it makes sense that no one used 360.
Serious? Shazams seth has the be the only fun I have had playing sf4!!!
I’ve come to accept the fact that I will be getting MvC3 on both consoles. The bonus for me is that I found someone who wanted to do the buy 1 get 1 free TE fight stick deal. Now I have a stick for each console and they are configured exactly the way I like
Again, is anyone going to MGL this week? I wanted to plan a trip but I wanna make sure that some of the AZ regulars are gonna be there.
