Well this was like Arnold’s first time going out of state to watch other people play mvc3, right? He must have seen a lot of new stuff that looked even more new because, like you said, you guys see each other’s shit all the time (and if they’re like you who rock the same team from release, you guys must not change up your characters too much).
Dude fernando is awesome. He was one of the better tvc players I ran into last year.
Those easy characters are winning tournaments. Don’t see a problem with that.
I just think it’s particularly boring when those characters fill up the top placements at tourneys. It really seems like they’re so good that they discourage people from picking anyone else.
Ray, perhaps. Im not saying everyone is creative. But some are atleast. But yeah it does get distorted i think when you go to another state with lots of regions there with different playstyles.
Maybe its because i play online a lot, that im exposed to so many things, then when i watch the streams, im not too suprised with what i see. I just see good solid play and decision making. The only player i watch that does something different everytime is richard nguyens dante. Hes always got like a combo of the week lol.
I don’t see a problem with Tier whoring. It didn’t seem to matter the last 4-5 years of people playing mvc2 or 3rd Strike. I played most of the cast mvc2, but would I use them in a tournament, hell no. People play the same character it just happens, mvc3 is a lot better than mvc2.
Until they fix Phoenix or ban, I am going to use her in tournaments. No different than Sentinel or Cable in mvc2.
Tier whoring isnt even that bad in mvc3. Theres a lot of diversity still in rankings. And the most you see the same character in top 8 is maybe 3 times at most. In the case of revalations, magneto,phx were most used with 3 people using them
Mike I was totally fine with everyone using top tier in mvc2, but to only use a few characters in this game is totally a waste. Seriously, there’s a lot of good characters in this game. I think chun li and super skrull are both awesome and Marlinpie really shows what cviper can do, but yet people still just use the same characters =/. It’s kind of a waste to have so many viable characters in this game and only a few are used.

i think theres a lot of viable stuff out there right now. i see it all the time. unfortunately there are more close minded people than people who think outside of the box. hsien ko is ass, but i do my best to make it work and still get some wins if she is on point. viewtiful joe is ass and im seeing/playing some people that do wild setups with him that make me think otherwise about his viability. thats the beauty of 3 man teams with assists. you can make characters work as long as you got something backing them up atleast.

mvc3 has a while before it can take over mvc2’s spot lol. The only thing I like about mvc3 over mvc2 is the amount of characters I get to pick from…although that may change if phx/wolvy starts running shit. best bet to killing phx imo is chipping her before she lands problem is you need the meter to do so…and you waste 1 snapping her in lol. This may also handicap your team since she has 2 other characters so you can’t just plan for phx. I liked justins Idea of using amaterasu to slow her down although I feel like he shouldn’t have picked tron to stop wolvy rushdown. EM disruptor+drones seem like a better option since wolvy is limited on mobility thus mag/ammy/sent might handle some phx teams who knows. viscant’s team may handle tokido’s as well. I like how wesker+uni beam handles sent assist. you can basically take him to half life once they call him out with just gun+unibeam then tele behind them into combo while they block IM lol.
Scott are you playing dorm now and if so can he kill phx with 2 bars as she comes in using level 1 xfactor of course?
i never really tried with level 1. its usually happened with level 2 and i would have 3 floating bombs out and using pillars
with the right assist skrull is secret top tier… just letting you know before one smacks you in the face one day.
I’m just gonna say this, AE has a SHIT LOAD more changes then what capcom stated. So much stuff to figure out now.
