I wouldn’t mind doing a 3v3 tonight. But, are there gonna be enough people to do one?
Hey everyone. Just dropping this off here for you all. Let me know if anyone is gonna be coming; I can house a couple people at my place.
Paper, why do you like everything?
Good games last night!
Paper? As in Renicity’s BFF??
He is trolling. Since srk turned in to facebook there are many ways to be annoying now.
Nice meeting you, ReNic.
Good games. I will always hate Hulk Vs. Hulk!
So…I played terribly yesterday and I have a lot to work on, but I had a ton of fun commentating! Moreso than playing the actual game. Thank you to everyone I played or commentated on last night! Working on meshing well with the other commentators and not being overbearing with the play-by-play.
Also, thinking about dropping Dante into my team and playing Zero Dante Wesker for sheer damage potential. Or possibly Zero Dante Akuma.
Wolverine = Balrog of Marvel 3.
I just listened to myself on the stream and I refuse to believe that is what I sound like.
The stream adds 10 octaves.
Sup guys I am back in town. I’m going to be busy working on the weekdays between 1 and 10 but in the mornings and weekends I can still play.
Would you guys be interested in having two tourneys ran at the same time on saturdays? AE, and mvc3.
I would be down… but this would have to start waaay earlier!
If you plan on entering any singles tournament at Revelations, but haven’t registered yet, get in touch with me. I’ve had a change of plans and won’t be going, but the TO’s said I can transfer my registration to someone else. You’ll get a substantial discount.
Revelations raffle is lucky I won’t be there. I bodied that fool last year.
Agreed with armando. Im down for both. But 9/10/11pm start time is brutal for those that are up since 6am.
Either that,or you just do mvc3 on saturday, then ae the next.
Alternating weeks could be better for the stream and players’ wallets.
I wouldn’t mind doing both but we would need to start earlier.
Would AE be played on 360/PS3 or both?
Hey guys,
The business that a friend of mine owns is starting to run FG tourneys on Wednesday nights at 7. It’s going to alternate between MvC3 and MK each week, starting with Marvel this week on 6/8. We’ll have at least 4 set-ups running with 3 360s and a PS3, with 360 being the standard and the PS3 available if the players aren’t worried about any differences between the consoles or want to use their PS3 controller. It’s double elim through Challonge, $5 entry with payouts to top 3 (50,25,12%), and if you enter you’re free to hang out as long as you like playing casuals before/after (the place never closes before around 2am).
We’ve run a couple of smaller trial weeks leading up to this one in hopes of ironing out any screw-ups before really promoting it, and are confident now that we can run this thing smoothly. The store has two hdtvs with minimal lag and two CRTs to play on as well as a pair of TE sticks for each console. Of course, you’re encouraged to bring your own sticks or even another set-up too. Come out and please bring some friends.

6/8 MvC3
6/15 Mortal Kombat
6/22 MvC3
6/29 Mortal Kombat
Of course we don’t want to try to contend with the Devastation guys by running ranbats or something, but want to provide an opportunity in the middle of the week for players to come out and compete in a stand-alone event. I’m more in line with the Marvel side of things. If you’re interested in the MK nights, you can find info posted by my friend MortySeinfeld in the AZ Thread of Test Your Might.

Thanks, and hope to see you there.
sup with the bizarre payout percentage? Im sure the business wants a piece of the pie? If so, why not just charge like $5 entry+$1 for the door fee or something like that? And make payout 70/20/10 or close to that. Trust me, running with the numbers you threw out, a lot of people will feel they are getting robbed. The cardinal rule is to never dip in the pot. Thats a #1 sign for someone to think a tourney is shady(not saying you are by any means)
Other than that, glad to hear more events popping up, and best of luck!
Thanks for the feedback. The store is generally a card gaming and hobby shop and the prize breakdown of their events is always that each place takes half of the remaining prize pool. I’m sure that I could have phrased it better though. It seems strange to me that players would rather pay a door fee like the one you’ve proposed than give the venue a 1/8 cut (which basically amounts to around 60 cents per person), but I certainly am not going to be closed-minded to your advice.
The store has a lot of experience running tourneys, but none for video gaming specifically, so there are sure to be some nuances that are different and will need adjusting. I don’t get dick for trying to help out running things, so I’m just hoping for as many people to show as possible. If there are any other things that are worth looking into, or maybe some resource where I can find info like what you suggested above, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks
