AZ Thread: Lots of events! Read 1st posts for upcoming AZ tourneys/events

I did word it in a way that would make people appear to get hotel and ride info too, but I immediately shot it down.
I clearly stated 1 game and evo registration.

Not sure if this is better or worse, but fuck it, get hype!

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU ONLY ENTER IF YOUR ACTUALLY GOING TO GO.
IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, DON’T RUIN THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR OTHERS!

This shit is amazing man. this is going to be such an awesome night. I really think you guys need to make sure this shit is posted on SRK, eventhubs, and so on. If you need any assistance with anything, don’t hesitate to ask.

I’m sure the people entering are in it to win it. Even if you entered just just for the heck of it, and win, a prize like this would change anyone’s mind.

I recommend the new blood mvc3 players start going to hazem’s, and ranbats so you can what you’re up against. Between both tourneys, there’s a lot of unknown talent.

I forgot to mention, but it’s only obvious: june 18 tournament will be streamed. But expect no one seeing it, because you should be at hazem’s playing your ass off!

Scott, any way you can help us out, and put our promo on the front page?

What if Cali,Vegas,NM decide to come down to score a free evo for themselves? woooow that’d be crazy! payout should be high enough to cover the drive down here

Question, what does

Question, what does this mean, hotel accommodation? Do you get your own hotel room or are you sharing? How many days does it include? Evo registeration, do I get to choose how many games I want to enter or does it just cover the registration fee?

Depending on the details, you could be better off just taking the money. If you get say 20 people (reason able guess) enter at $17, that’s a $340 money pool. That’s $238 for first place at standard 70% 20% 10%,. You could better off taking the money.

I know I would rather want the money. I just want to know what my $17 is exactly getting me. Just saying.

mike,
I did revise the promo because of questions like yours. If you win you are garanteed a room with Team Hazmat. yes, you will be roomed with Hazem…and Arnul…, but by winning you basically are rooming free of charge. you will also have a ride to, and from Vegas with Team Hazmat. That alone is saving you a chunk of change. we are also including your fee for EVO. If you win and choose to enter multiple games, you pay the difference ($10 per game). MVC3 will be paid with the registration. either way, thats only regarding to the winning player.

Navi,
This will be a Local Tourney. Out of state players are ineligible.

I’m glad Dr. Dogg mentioned earlier about DEV being not profit, because we’re going towards that direction. every penny is going back to the tourney. Just like tournaments. we are paying for the locartion since electricity will be used. not to mention drinks and snacks will be available, etc (you’ve been to Hazem’s you know whats up), and 2nd and 3rd will be consolidated(depending on entries)

The satisfaction of going to Evo without spending an arm and leg is rewarding. That’s why we wanted a tournament reflecting Evo. we want to make sure the winner will represent at the grand finals of tournaments. if you’re looking for the money tournament they’re here every saturday at 9, and ranbats every other sunday at 1PM.

Ok, so depending on the number of players this prize might not be worth it. I get the point of your tournament but I also like know what my money is going for. Say for example you get 32 people for this tournament that’s a $544, that around a $380 first place winnings, depending on how you go about things could pay for a good chunk of my hotel room, gas and evo entry fee without dealing Team hazmat stuff. Everyone has to choose whether the tournament is worth it to them. I just wanted to the exact details and what EXACTLY I am getting if I win, before I decide.

Also Bryan didn’t say Dev was non profit, he just said they don’t make money off it. There’s a difference.

WOW, I Thought I was the only RICH GUY

GGs to everyone on Saturday night. After watching the stream archive and seeing how many combos I dropped, I think I have a long way to go. I need to figure out the ideal combo, in terms of both damage and execution consistency, for every single situation: Whether I start it after landing a jumping normal, a crouching normal, an assist, an air loop, etc, with respect to my current positioning on the screen as well as the character I’m playing against. I made the mistake of practicing and learning a new team BnB yesterday without testing it on a variety of different character and spacings, and so I gave up way more damage than I should have.

GGs in particular to Dormandu (I think that sounds much more funny than Dormando, so I propose we switch your nickname to that) for putting me into losers in my first match and making me fight my way through the entire loser’s bracket to meet him in Grand Finals. Your drastic change in style outdid my ability to adapt, I’ve gotta figure out what I was doing wrong.

I also really enjoyed commentating yet again, I think I’m getting a little bit better at doing play-by-play but I’m still 1 or 2 seconds behind usually. Got to practice commentating on Alonso, Reece, and Luey after everyone had left that night and so I think I’ll have a better feel for it next time. Ideally, I’d like to get to this level for commentary:

depending on the number of entries(which 32 is a lot, but would love to see) Consolations will be revised. again, we are waiting for number of entries to decide where the remaining money will go. with your example of $544 there will be no reason to reward the winner with spending money for the trip. once we have an idea of how many people will participate, can start revising consolation prizes. we just need you (the players) to help with that.

maybe you can sponsor the tournament? make it that much sweeter.

Well, the whole purpose of this is to help the community and get someone to go to Evo so there is really no point in giving out the cash.

The person that wins is going to go to Evo so giving out cash doesn’t matter because, as I said, the person that wins is going to go to evo. By the way, the person that wins is going to go to Evo.

Also, everyone read this again:

I’m justing saying your prize might not be equal or greater than the amount if you just ran a money tournament and the person got the money towards their evo tournament. It’s makes it more complicated, that’s why most tournaments are just simple cash. It makes it easier in the long run.

I personal think the structure on the prize could limit the entries. Maybe I’m just over thinking it. It’s just a suggestion.

we do cash tournaments every weekend. It is easy to maintain structure. So is this tournament. maybe your are over thinking it, but trust me I thought you when posting everything

Plain and simple. This is for the right to play at evo For 17 bucks if you win. Level up and get that opportunity!

Mike,
We did talk about having big money tournaments in the future. I guess it’s pending until ranbats is over.

No offense but there is a difference when it’s $3 compared to $17. The mindset is completely different. I barely call $3 tournaments and $1 ranbats cash tournaments. I think most people can agree on that.

When you are dealing with money nothing is “plain and simple”. I think you should post the exact details of the prize you getting so no one could be confused about what they exactly are entering for.

you should really talk to an old school sf player, and ask how their mindset were when they played for only a quarter.

Sooo-Haz, I have no clue where you read in my statement that you were profiting or pockegting money. I meant it EXACTLY how i said it, its awesome people are giving you something at least, obviously the maybe 20 bucksd you get doesnt cover anything, but its the principle behind that i was legitamately applauding so why am i being attacked for making a valid statement? did i miss something?

and second, to say you guys are the only ones to do anything for the community sure is a slap in the face. Ranbats are for the community, if some of you choose not to come due to location, thats a personal choice and doesnt mean its not for the community. I couldnt make some of the eastside ranbats due to its location, and that was widely accepted as for the community, so i dont know how this differs.

and i host weekly as well, just cause its in my garage shouldnt mean a thing, i have yet to have anybody complain about not being “comfortable”. sorry i can only have 4-5 people, but at least its something, and it sure as hell is better than nothing. Im not sure who you guys are refering too with the statement of “unlike others” when it comes to profiting from a tourney, i can assure you nobody is profiting of of any tournies accept the person winning.

Some of us just gave up our entire weekend and time with the family, to help promote devastation so AZ can have a bigger tourney and an even bigger turnout that last year, to apparantly be told nobody does anything but people who host.

its funny that i was told some favoritism might be going on with me and jacob, and thats just funny, a few of you know my history with jacob (my car) and to think im playing favorites with him is just pure comedy, fact is anybody who knows me knows i play favorites with nobody, i simply call it like i see it, and i did exactly that, and STILL stand by my words.

and yes haz, i wasnt even at the tourney friday, cause i had been working comicon all day and had to be back early in the morning.

I tried to keep this off here, i called several times, and even sent text messages to call me.

at this point, im going to remove myself from here and just consider myself not a part of this community any longer since i dont seem to do or have done shit for it. I actually do care and this has bothered me deeply, so its just easier to not read the bullshit that goes on and deal with people in person since nobody but maybe luey, dan and scooter actually man up in person and talk about things, so it will be easier to pretend things are cool. I got no hard feelings.

those who need to contact me know how, see you around folks!

the exact details are this:

winner gets registration paid for including the winning game(any other game chosen to play must be out of pocket)
rooming expenses paid for.
you’re not paying any gas whats so ever to drive out there.Team HAZMat haz(lol) you covered.

any issues the winner has with these prizes( already registeres etc) will be repaid for the expense. the concept is: we want you to go to evo free of charge(excluding personal expenses)
