I think the thing is that it could be worse. You know, there’s this dude named Tsujikawa that won bbcs SBO with taokaka and always uses the taunt loop on an arcade cabinet requiring him to take one of his hands off of either the stick or the buttons completely to hit start. He nailed that shit every time, so I think it’s just going to be a matter of practice. No biggie.
If you guys wanna talk about awkward hand placements, ask the people that play IIDX or pop’n music. Shit is whack.
Last post here, but also remember that X-Factor requires pressing all four attack buttons simultaneously. That might be a little trickier to do with a MvC2-style layout.
Curious what you mean about the LEDs. I’m planning on dual-modding a new stick with LEDs and a LED controller, but if the PS360 doesn’t play nice for some reason I’ll just use the paewang.
Speaking of gates, if anyone is interested in circular gates, Toodles has developed a completely circular gate insert that just snaps right in to replace the inner ring in the JLF gate. It’s called a Sanwa GT-C and is available at lizard lick at the moment. Here’s the original thread for the item.
The MvC3 layout makes sense to me, but since I’m a newbie to vs. series I don’t have the ingrained muscle memory that some of you vets have. I got to play a bit at E3 last year and it felt fine once you got oriented with your main combo buttons. It does feel a bit weird to suddenly have that top “assist” button as a normal attack and you’ll probably find yourself forgetting to use the heavy attack at first but like Sabre said I think it’ll be hard to fight the default layout given the way the combos flow.
I never said I wouldn’t use default I said I would use what I feel is the best for me. What I said is I don’t give a fuck about your wack default only rules. The game has a button config for a reason. I’ll use it if I want too. Pad players button config all the time for mvc2, it’s the same thing.
I have played the default settings I thought they were wack. Will I think that later down the road with more time to the game maybe, maybe not. That’s up to me to decide until then to each their own.
I will probably be coming out to MGL again on Saturday. I’ll bring the Deejay “vortex” with me too, Muji
I think part of my problem is that I keep playing Deejay in SSF4 and it throws my game off when I play him in AE. I feel like me Deejay is getting stronger, I just need to come out and get a wider variety of match up experience with the AE changes. Hopefully I’ll see some of you guys over the weekend
No, not really. Personally, I think it feels like they just put a really large or tight spring on the P2 stick which is making it feel sluggish for certain motions.
A couple of us peeps from surprise are gonna be up there from like 4 til close pretty much. Might as well make it a all day thing while we make the drive. Hope to see some of you guys out there
after a lil gettin used to i’m sure it’ll be fine. we didnt have that much time to get used to the button setup… altho… I AM gunna play with mvc2 style setups… scrolling thru the buttons doesnt take that long. dont get me wrong, im gunna do both.
when and how much is it gunna cost me? =]
this
scott i see where you are coming from, but i have played mvc3 and the button layout makes no sense to me… i know the game is different and combos dont go in magic series order… u can even go backwards from medium to light in some combos… but its all about preference…
once i get the basics down i can adapt… hell i used to live in mexico and played KOF. do you know how many different button setups i had to play on? there was traditional snk layout, then 2 top buttons 2 bottom buttons, but my favorite was
. :snka:
:snkb: :snkc:
. :snkd:
A and B would sometimes be switched, C and D would also be switched because different arcades had diff cabs n setups… but i was able to play on all of em… except cross handed
@bold#1 thats my biggest gripe because all traditional capcom fighters have a standard sequence for the buttons. altho assisting was different in mvsf/mvc1 to mvc2. (but after playin mvc2 for 10 yrs its kinda hard to change haha) fuck bb and gg and all that other jazz… what if sf4 was like
wp wk mp
mk fp rh
it would just be too weird. thats how i feel about mvc3 as of now. again. i think i’ll get over it…
@bold#2 a complete hand movement? come on man we arent playin at metro center with the claw style buttons… shudders shout outs to marcus for making that possible :bluu:
see above =]
absolutely right… but after i get used to the game i wont care…
yeppers
whats gunna be allowed at evo? what has been allowed? oh wait button check… if I had to wait… fuck it. so do you. besides… its not just pad players. everyone has different sticks that are wired differently so this shit is gunna happen anyway… might as well lemme do it however the fuck i want…
