Scott, here’s the combo I was talking about.

It starts at 22 seconds in. After the first combo I do the otg + spencer assist, when I hit the slide right after the combo counter doesn’t add up, and then the rest of the combo kills magneto without having to DHC. Normally that combo won’t kill him so I’m positive the damage was reset.
Anybody else seen this?

I don’t think it was spencer. I do that combo all the time but it never happens except here and it actually happened when me and luey were playing on friday night as well. I haven’t figured out how to recreate it though. Scott said it sounded like an uncombo, which in mvc1 was where a combo “ended” before they got out of hit stun, so the next hits in the combo get reset damage.
look at the vid again… shehulk aircombo, into otg/into spencer was 10 hits. her slide into launch was 11 hits instead of 12… AND it did too much… =D maybe the way you started it? hit stun decay n stuff make combos way too different/damaging off of 1 hit …
I was testing that in training. I set magneto to em disrupter so I could start the combo but that didn’t get it. I’m thinking that I hit him at the last possible moment with the slide before he recovered from spencer assist.
what were the results of the tournament? also any crazy shit happen after 1am?

Man, that was some fun shit last night. I saw so many sick matches. Best marvel night so far. shoutouts to hazem, and especially Annie for putting up with so many people in the house. Place was fucking nuts! lots of drama, salt, and sick matchups. And EVERYONE was there. too good!

I think this game is total ass on a competitive level. Stupid shit happens much more frequently than in SFIV and the reward for it is not just damage, but taking away options from your opponent by way of killing their character. That said, it’s fun to play and not give a shit while doing so and that’s what’s keeping me around. I still hold that the engine feels very freeform and cool. Also, it’s funny and entertaining to see stupid shit win so frequently (For example, Team Combo Sugah Muji).
Arnul, you better watch your back man. Maynard may be looking to run you over with his car or something, haha. If the whole thing ever blows over I’d love to post some of his quotes from that night.

i dont see how the game is ass on a competitive level. results have been pretty consistent overall. im not understanding this argument at all. yeah you lose a character, your options become more limited. same with mvc2, was mvc2 not competitive? i mean, how many times have we seen someone down to the last character vs 3 characters and they come back and win? a lot. i know ive done it countless times. i think i saw it 385767354 times last night.
besides, welcome to marvel. its supposed to be overthe top insane. you die in 3/4 mistakes. id hate to see you play st, where games end in under a minute and you only made 2 mistakes.
