Bad news, count me out for bringing an Xbox this Friday. I got put on the disaster preparation team at work for Hurricane Irene (I BLAME YOU ZAINE) and so I’ll be at work 'til at least 8 PM. Coming straight from work + about an hour to get to Haz’s, I’m not going to be there until 9 at best.

UPDATE: Funeral Fundraising Tourney
Im trying to pull a quick tourney together this weekend to help raise money for a friend (my best friend Eddie Saiz II) in need. His 1-month-old son (Eddie Saiz III) passed away Sunday. Obviously no one has money saved up to pay for a newborn’s funeral so I would like to see what we can do within the community to help. None of you even know my boy Eddie, so if you are busy or just not up to it…its completely understandable, at least come out and battle. Most of us have lost loved ones for reasons other than “old age”. So we all know how off guard this can knock us.
I am attempting to throw a donation entry tourney, with $1 (being the minimum) going to the tourney pot, and hopefully accept any and all willing donations.
Tourney Information
What: SSF4:AE, MVC3, and any other popular request
Where: UAT on 48th street and Baseline (on the South side of Baseline between Fry’s Electronics and 48th street light)
When: Sunday
Time: Doors open at 11am, tourney will start at 1pm.
Why: To help raise money for the funeral of Eddie Saiz III
Who: ANY and EVERYONE!!!
Entry fee: Donation based with a $1 minimum. For instance, I am going to enter each tourney at $50 each. $49 will go towards the donation pot, $1 going to the tourney pot. On the other end, if you do not want to donate (which is completely understandable), you will pay $1 to enter each tourney.
Pot: $1 from every donation will go to the pot. 70/20/10 as usual.
All proceeds will go to the Saiz family. Thanks!!!

GGs tonight Jon! You’re playing Yang pretty closely to how I imagine he’s meant to be played. C. forward into EX Rekkas does a lot of damage quickly and can stun fast also. Sorry if my connection is bad, this is pretty much the best it gets for me. =/

According to Google Maps it’s 28.2 mi from the venue if you take I-17.

Geoff, it was a blast playing you. I was really worried about not enjoying the game after my first night with it, as I hadn’t found a character that I really enjoyed playing. Day 1 Yang felt really good though, I think he’s closer to SSF4 Ibuki than 3S Ibuki is. I think I might pick him up in AE (even with the nerfs), it feels like my playstyle has changed since I first started with Ibuki.
Connection wasn’t bad for me, but I wasn’t doing anything really fancy and I’m still getting used to the engine, so my opinion’s probably not worth much.
There is a small chance I might be able to borrow a car but if it doesn’t pan out I’d greatly appreciate your help and of course I’ll help out with gas. =D I’ll PM you my cell so I can keep you updated tomorrow.
If anyone else lives closer to me than RIDETHEPIG and can give me a ride to the venue, do speak up (trying to be efficient and not inconvenience anyone if possible), thanks! =)
Scotty: Sorry man - I know my connection is pretty terrible. If you have your latency set to 0 or 1 you’ll probably have to change it to 2 or 3 when we play. I wasn’t getting a lot of skipping on my end really after it was set to 2. Either way it’s probably best if we don’t play online anymore since we both missed a lot of things. Like when you had no life and I did dash into level 3 super and I just stood in place and did level 3 super. Yay!
Jon: You’ll probably like the engine, it’s less sloppy than SF4 and Yang translated to SF4 from 3S pretty closely. learn the s.strong + s.short link to throw off parry timing and mash out EX Rekkas to get them all to come out. You can even delay a couple of the repetitions and they will still come out if you don’t want that long. You can pressure a lot too with close standing forward because you can superjump cancel it; if it hits you get free forward/EX rolling kicks into resets, if it doesn’t, you can superjump away. Normally I would just play Ibuki to show you some things but I don’t like playing her against Elena, Oro, or the twins - they duck a lot of her pressure moves and some combos don’t work on them because they’re too short/fall funny.
Sorry I didn’t get to see you all last night, I couldn’t make it to GW until about 11:20, but still got a few matches in. I will see you all at Haz’s tonight, I am gonna bring my ASUS. Alex doesn’t get off work till 8 pm, so I’m gonna swoop him up from there and we will head straight over. I understand there was another Guy player there last time? Geoff, I don’t think I can handle going to 2 or 3 input lag setting. Shit is just so noticeable with 2d games
I wish you could change the input delay setting while in a lobby cuz I was playing on zero delay since its awesome with locals. I could deal switching to 2 once I would face you, but the game don’t allow it, sadly
