I’ve been to AIAB and I second his comment about the $10 venue fee (I’m okay with the $10 tournament).
If AIAB needs to charge this much to stay in business, that’s fair. But other stores with similar business models (LAN Speed, Outpost Games/Manawerx) have charged a smaller venue fee or no venue fee at all and continue to stay in business. I’d be okay with a $5 fee, but I think $10 is a bit much for a local.
You cannot compare AIAB to LAN Speed or Outpost Games/Manawerx in terms of business model. The latter businesses are open longer, actual business hours (if I’m not mistaken) and cater to a completely different crowd and especially Outpost/Manawerx where they sell actual retail product. Add in popularity of said product to a wider fan base also; its no wonder that AIAB has to charge such entry fees to stay in business.
