Like 3S?

Besides, true 2v2 tournaments are now possible and will be, as the kids say, (ahem) mad hype.

Ray, shenanigans! Sfxt is sick. Breath of fresh air.

Yeah that’s the other thing, I think 4 player mode(not that royal rumble mode or whatever it is) will be huge too. Team tourneys would be so dope

Games 8-2am bring sticks and set ups

You should post this question in the 8WR AZ thread (if you haven’t already) and it’ll get answered faster.

You have to tap and release guard just before the attack connects. You cannot be holding guard when the attack connects with your character. It’s best to use it mid-block string instead of on the first attack.

It can only be initiated from backturned, and there are only a handful of ways to get backturned with Algol, several of which are easy to avoid.

Even when you do pull it off, it’s more oki than vortex. Just take the grounded hit for minimal damage and you’re out. Also, a number of characters have an easy way out of the “vortex” even without taking the grounded hit.

I’d recommend stopping by Armando’s tonight, then. One of the biggest obstacles I faced when I started playing in tournaments was playing outside of my comfort zone, outside of my living room and with my opponent sitting right next to me. Those nerves change everything, and the more practice you get playing outside of your element the better.

Grats Renic on getting on cross assault!

Lol I’m surprised they picked him, very disappointing! I’m sure most would agree!

I’m suprised they didn’t just pick the usual suspects all across the board

They picked some of the top Tekken players like Bronson, 200yen and Kor who have won majors in the past. They are pretty smart players. Capcom players got slapped in the face with a big dick lol

Honestly, that’s probably the best way to make the show an interesting competition. If they threw in Wong or Combofiend or whoever, the Tekken team would get rolled. I’m sure they’re all smart players, but a 2D veteran will adjust faster to a new 2D game than a 3D veteran will. That’s not to say that the Tekken guys won’t pick up the game fast, they’ll probably pick it up faster than I will. But in 7 days, I think Team SF would have a big advantage if stacked with the regular faces. Plus I’d much rather see Rockefeller play and learn on a reality show with Ty than pretty much any other player out there. Except maybe Zaine, I think he and Ty locked in a room on Team SF would be hilarious.

As far as the USB thing goes, I’m wary of it because I don’t think it’ll solve many problems in practice. The time it’ll take to physical plug in the flash drive and select the load option, especially if they only allow one at a time due to the number of USB ports, may actually be equal to or even longer the time it would take to select gems manually. I mean, I’ve seen people sit at a station and fumble with the USB connector on their sticks for a good 2 minutes because it’s upside down or they’re inserting it in at the wrong angle. Now they’ve gotta do that twice. Then say the loser of the first match wants to counterpick character and gems. Now they’ve gotta do the whole batch load process again. The other benefits, like storing your button config and custom color, seem interesting enough but also suffer similar flaws.

I look at 3SO’s Button Config option as a great example. People bitched and moaned about the “right way” vs “wrong way” to configure one’s buttons, claiming that the press-to-bind feature saves more time than the scrolling one. Fair enough, but even after they went through the trouble of implementing that, people still go into a dummy match and test their buttons before going back to the character select screen, so it really doesn’t save that much time in the first place. It’s almost like they need to check that they themselves hit the right buttons when configuring, and so going into a practice match to test buttons seems borderline ceremonious. I think SFxT’s custom button config import will fall into the same problem, in that people will import their buttons but then still demand a sanity check on their own data by going into a practice match.

And then there’s the aspect of system compatibility. Will the profiles be cross-platform? Will all of our AZ scene’s custom loadouts be screwed when we go to EVO because we have 360 data that’s not compatible with their PS3s?

From a development standpoint, Capcom’s definitely moving in the right direction and it’s awesome that they’re doing this for such a small minority of their client base. Frankly, I couldn’t think of a better solution, because this problem is pretty deeply engrained into the design of the game. It’s moreso on the FGC and how we make use of these features, and looking at my past experiences with tournaments and people dicking around with plugging their sticks in as well as doing wholly unnecessary button checks, giving people more shit to plug in and not eliminating the extra button check won’t be that beneficial. I hope we as a community adapt to the new features, though. I just didn’t see it with 3SO.

Dr Subzero is the best thing about all this.

Ahh the assumptions lol, I think Justin Wong is about the only player who is a huge threat in any game, no one else really can be as top notch as him. IMO they should have put Mr.Naps,Ken-I and Ricky Ortiz because they too are great at SF and Tekken altogether compared to most of the ppl they picked already

Does anyone meet for casuals on Thursday or Friday nights? I have classes Tuseday/Thursday so I can never make it on Monday or Wednesday nights.

I usually play and drink on Fridays with a couple others, if your down we can play this Friday!

DON’T DO IT, that fool will drink and get feisty on you LMAO

Yes I will mindfuck you for sure, but what I won’t do is grab your dick and kiss you like a certain Scumbag did to me a couple weeks ago while were drinking!!

Great players, but don’t seem like the right fit for the show.

Despite my, uh… new fear, I may be down. I usually hang with some dudes Friday afternoons, but nights should be good. Just at your place, right? Who goes and what times?

what is your deal?

Some dudes bro, totes no homo. >:J
