I think it’s funny how SF/MvC players are calling SCV mashy on day 3. Of course scrubs are going to mash. Get good at the game, then complain about it being mashy… or just don’t play.
Anyway, those Viola combos aren’t hard… so I’m not sure what your complaint is. Viola’s combos are easy, some of Natsu’s are also easy. There are certainly hard combos in the game, but not from Viola (yet).
I don’t really think Viola has low damage. It seems the damage of most characters has been toned down from SC4 to SC5. Some still do SC4 damage, but from what I’ve seen thus far, Viola’s damage is on par with at least half the cast.
@Kira - I can’t go back to brawl. It isn’t fun for me anymore. Also, who is in the vicinity of Tempe ASU Campus? I am looking at playing some casuals today, but have no transportation to really get me anywhere like Laveen.
Well, from somebody who doesnt play SC, I can see how things may seem mashy, but I assure you, mashing gets you nothing but punished. If your mashing, then I can step and punish your whiff cause your hitting air. people used to 2d may see that and think its mash, but people who know how to use their step, will eat them alive all day.
I may buy SCV and KoF13 today…if they are AZ players for each one who are on PS3. That way I can get a feel for it with local players online when I can’t get anywhere during the week.
Most horizontals are high so you duck them. But the tricky part is the ones that hit mid. If you duck those, they’ll hit you and might even stun you. S-mid’s can be blocked high and low. Verticals can be sidestepped.
PC. I have a PS3 but I don’t really see the point. On the plus side I can use the fightpad on my PC
ps3 for me. Don’t own the xbox. But know the AZ scene, xbox is the way to go if you have a choice, unless you really care about the exclusive characters that wont see much competitive play anyway
^ its a shame that he and pacman are exclusive. I understand cole and the cats, but i would have really like to see those 2 characters played competitively
in addition to what navi said, theres also knowing which direction to step. most vertical attacks only track either a left or a right. some cover both, but most only cover part at which point you step the proper direction and punish. Or, you can pick a char such as ivy that has a move that steps, makes her duck and punishes whiffs all at once!
Step is good, but like anything else, you have to know what you can step, and what direction to step in to not get hit, or to whiff punish.Just like SF or any other game, gotta know your match ups.
