Lots of people didn’t make it into Haz’s commercial. That’s not necessarily a slight to them. In fact, very few of tucson’s best made it into the trailer. Note to all you fools who think I am saying I am a top player… I’m not… but It is definitely a fact that many of tucson’s finest didn’t make the trailer. Haz is great, and he has done a lot for the community. In fact, he invites everyone to his events, even those who have negatively affected the community in some way. I don’t think it’s fair to say the community disrespects dan just because of his absence here.
When I was coming up in the street fighter community in tucson, we often had dan playing against us on his own setup in arcade in a box and that was considered the best learning experience you could get as a player.
It was significantly longer than 3 months ago, actually. But if it was going on at all, then it’s still bring-up-able. And again, it was the trailer that made me think of all the stupid shit talk from before. Just seemed like a “here we go again” kind of thing. BUT, if it’s not really any kind of issue nowadays, I’m happy drop it. Dan’s just my bud so I wanted to say SOMETHING about what I saw, especially in case it WAS a real thing. I’m happy if it’s not I’m not looking to make enemies or anything. Hell, I still consider myself part of the AZ FGC… I’m sentimental like that lol I love when people in NJ go, “602? Where’s that??”
But just on a logistics level, in response to what people have posted, it seems like not being able to show up that often wouldn’t be that relevant to inclusion in the community, especially if it’s only 3 months, and only because of a ride situation to boot. And to say that ANYONE, Dan or otherwise, wouldn’t be recognized as a community member because he placed poorly in his last tourn? That’s just asinine on a sci-fi level. lol

/whatever. I’m sure haz didn’t intend to disrespect or offend anyone with the vid. But its obvious who’s going to be on the next promo video…
Haha, yes you are. Here’s the thing, can you imagine how long that thing would have been if Haz had thrown in the name of every single good player in our two scenes, both Tucson and Phoenix, for two games? Another big thing is that the Tucson folks were essentially guests in the trailer, y’all are awesome but the trailer was for Team hAZmat, so it makes sense that the people that were in it were the ones who are closer to that scene. I’m sure if AIAB made a trailer for any big tournament seasons they were having, they wouldn’t start going down the line naming Phoenix Marvel players. This isn’t to say that our scenes are divided or at odds with one another, but put some perspective into it before you start interpreting things as attacks on your ego.

Seriously, what Haz did was great for the scene and just really cool. Why do people have to go and stir drama up on a good thing?

@ Scott - Good set on XBL! That is probably the best set that I have had the opportunity to play with one of the SRK folks since my Internet got fixed. That Vergil is vicious and it took me a while to figure out what to do against Lei Lei. Good Shit none the less, looking forward to more sets in the future.

Not much to say, at work bored and tired waiting to be sent home due to some upgrade. Ok, I will say that listening to Viscant talk about UMVC3 in the SRK podcast makes me want to play the game; he makes it sound so easy. But I’m not falling for it. =)

I had written a large response about how I certainly understand the ways video editing works and the reason why Haz couldn’t put all of tucson it the trailer. In fact, I have helped edit episodes of mad men, chopped, 30 rock, and mind of a killer. I’d say that I probably understand the limitations and reason why Haz’s trailer chose to include certain names better than most people. Muji, I’m really not trying to say I deserve to be in the trailer, I was merely defending Dan. I was saying that Dan’s absence from the trailer does not mean he is disrespected by the community. I believe the same about myself.
I’m really not sure why you interpreted my statement that way, especially after saying “this does not mean I consider myself to be the best.” Anyways, I would appreciate it if you would refrain from saying I have some sort of ego and maybe take another look at my previous post. I’m certainly not, as you say it, “interpreting things as attacks on my ego.” In fact, I saw the haz trailer before most of you, he and I were in talks about the trailer before it was even posted. He ran it by me wondering what I thought of it and we talked about why he chose certain people and certain editing decisions he made.
I agree with Marticio. Why are people stirring up shit because of this? It seems pretty clear to me that Haz meant no harm to scott… or any of Tucson. Which is a point I was certainly arguing in favor of.
On second thought… if you wanted to say I had some sort of ego as pertaining to film… I’d probably agree

Ah, that’s totally what I thought you were saying, which was making me go WTF? I was reading some discontent in saying that “I’m not a top player, but…” and that you were getting all butthurt over it. But, seems like it was a misunderstanding, so no harm no foul, right? Everyone’s like “Why are we stirring shit up over this?” when nobody actually is, haha. I mean, nobody’s even talked to Dan lately and we’re getting all riled up over a dude who’s getting mad for him. My apologies for stirring the drama pot once again.
