Congrats to Spiteful and SaBrE for 1st place in AE & Marvel, good shit everyone

It’s between you and Marticio if he wants to go.

Let him go. I’lltry to make it to the next boot camp.

I would love to start coming out to the bootcamps again. Where/when do these take place and how do I get in on them again?

They’re going to the one in Tucson

I just got an Xbox and UMvC3, where do all you marvel homos get your information? Going from KOF13 to Marvel is like Dwight Howard dunking on an 8 foot rim.

Sweet I’ll go Alonso, if you need my number get it from Mike or its just 480-304-1825

sweet, Mike, Alonso, unseen anger, and I will be jamming out to Alonso K-pop on the road to Tuscon tomorrow!

Not too much hype surrounding next local tournament, owe well, 16 man bracket it is

I think we should get a decent turn out considering the prize, unless people forgot about it…

I actually have a hard time believing prize money is the reason someone would go to the tournament considering only one person really makes bank.

I mean, there’s no way everyone goes with the intention of winning it all. I think most people usually go to tournaments or ranbats in order to get in some serious play, measure himself with something other than a ruler, or to just improve in general. That being said, I think it’s safe to say only people who really care about the game and want to improve will be interested which is great, right? It’s better to at least have just them, right? Free wins don’t really mean much in a tournament setting to me. Asking for more people, those who really just don’t care enough to come to the tournament on their own free will, is just selling fire to a snowman.

thats true, but people wanna win too man.
for some its not the end all but its a good motivator

No prize is for casuals. Prize is a motivator. If you feel you have no chance of winning, ever, then you are casual or have a losing mentality(not directed towards you Ray <3). It should motivate you to try harder and play your best. Plus a prize will get better players out as well

Dont forget Jan 7th is the start of the ranbats!

No it’s ok Scott. It’s just what I’m saying is that there could be different motivations. I thought pride would be the biggest one here honestly.

Ray, true. Pride is definitely important.

Sorry, haven’t been on srk much lately so I forgot to update thread title. But the new years samurai comics tourney is still on the first page of the thread for those that need information. It’s post #2

I agree with both Ray and Scott.

Some people don’t care much for the prize itself. The tournament, regardless of what the prize is, is still a good motivator for players of all levels of skills, whether the motivation is pride, or just getting more experience. Having a significantly better prize than usual should still attract more players overall, since more higher skilled players will be interested, and lower skilled players, who didn’t think they would win the tournament in a first place, can still see this as an opportunity to see how much they have improved.

Not trying to hate on anyone, this is just how I saw these tournaments back when I was really inexperienced with tournament play and such.

And I am trying to help Jai promote this event regardless! =D
