I need to branch out and play people besides Gnaw and Ayla.
I routinely get wrecked by the bubble cowboy, raelynn sometimes, leon fuck u i’ve killed like one, and in general I hate flying characters, but that monkey looks tempting
Monkey dude has always been an underrated character I feel. He has powerful control tools and can get out of hand quickly. I remember when Toddler and I played on 360 way back our team of Voltar and Yuri would roll people down even if we had a Bot ally. Having a player Clunk or Froggy G was really good though.
Then again back then Yuri could do hella damage to Turrets without being hit himself, disrupting the Turret to not focus on Minion waves lol. That and laying out Mines or slowing down people while simultaneously healing allies in the giant ass bubble was amazing.
@Ayo that doesn’t work anymore as I’m sure you read in the patch notes turrets deploy a shield that prevents all damage from attacks that outrage them.
I personally think that’s dumb, if players have found an upgrade path that allows them to outrage turrets than they deserve to get the damage.
Like I told sovi3t read the character roles and descriptions at the select screen try out every Naut see who you gel with I suggest sticking to just 1 in the beginning and learning him/her for a while until you feel comfortable then moving on to others. Learning more than 1 Naut when you’re starting teaches you bad habits just ask EXO who went random when we started playing last year
Also read the steam guides! The yare super helpful. Let me know when you want some games.
Really awesome to see SRK start to pick this amazing game up. I’m on almost every day usually after 7 PM EST. It took me a few months to get the hang of it, but once you do everything just “clicks” and you know your game plan and how to execute and exactly what to do without anyone telling you it’s a good feeling.
Also keep in mind that while most of the characters have a ton of flexibility in playstyle/upgrade paths a lot of characters do have a few essential upgrades for example no matter what Lonestar build you have, if you don’t at least buy bull when the game starts you are automatically playing him wrong. Same with Leon if you don’t focus on tongue ASAP you’re already fucking up.
After you get through the experimental phase with characters and their upgrades it should become obvious which are the “must buy” ones for each character.
At least the Lonestar builds I cooked up ages ago are still a thing. I swear the team just ignores him and he is able to just body people and get out of hand quickly. Although his gunshots natural speed feels slightly off as does the range.
But at least bouncing, increased radius triple dynamite is still fun as shit and he has a new alt now.
Lonestar was m first character and now my go to alternate if Skree isn’t available. The range on his AA was extended pretty far, but he is now slower and his +4 AA upgrade was nerfed to +3.
Bounce upgrade is fine as it allows you to push turrets without putting yourself at risk, but I feel radius upgrade is completely useless. Here’s my build and order which I feel is pretty optimal if you’re going for burst:
Solar tree and bull when game starts>med i can 1>dynamite>boots>third stick>transfusion>incendiary bomb 1 and 2>med i can 2 and 3>crystal eagle bullets 1 and 2>cheetah bullets 1 and 2>eagle bullets 1 and 2>cattle rebooter>super breed>bull charger
Not much range on the dynamite but each stick deals 25 damage and each gives me 30% life back and the DoT does 20…so if I hit an opponent with all 3 sticks that’s 95 damage plus I get almost my entire lifebar back so not even a leon can fuck with me assuming my aim is perfect and with how good I am at baiting enemies to get close to me it always is
Can you still take the longcat upgrade route with Derpl and outrange turrets?
If not, I’m fine that they removed Yuri’s option, but if you can still do it with DZ, then it’s pretty shitty that they removed the space monkey’s options.
I never did get to play the other night (should have stayed home instead of getting stupid drunk ), and I won’t have time again before Sunday evening, so maybe I’ll just jump straight into some games.
read the damn patch notes guys geez lol.
-Turrets no longer receive damage when they are not shooting
-Turrets stop taking damage while firing if they haven’t been able to hit a target for 3s
-Fixed an issue where characters that can float would sometimes not be able to jump when standing on a platform that was moving down
-Improved jumping responsiveness when already pressing jump just before actually hitting the ground
-Fixed that bullet detonation did not work anymore if you had been stunned after firing the bullet
-Fixed that the flying droid created by Genji or Raelynn would very rarely become invisible and invincible for other players"
I used to read all the patch notes and try to keep up on all of the minute changes in the game back when I used to play… like a year ago.
That’s a cool fix for the issue. Glad it was done in that case.
I’d never go random select, I know there are a handful of characters that aren’t for me. Hell, I’m just getting the hang to a few of the key differences between the 3 characters I cycle through. I’m starting to play Raelynn less and less though, one of my friends who is good at the game usually busts ass with her so I bow out gracefully. Genji feels pretty gdlk now that I unlocked his exploding Cocoon, he already felt pretty damn good. Cocoon feels pretty gdlk, great at crowd controlling.
Coco, is pretty mystifying still. I don’t use her abilities nowhere near as much and as good as I should.
I finally played Swiggins and Skolldir last night. Swiggins feels freaking amazing. I def will play around with him some more. Skolldir is pretty fun and straight forward. His throw and AA game is pretty nuts when upgraded.
I’ll check out the steam guides. I checked out like 2-3 youtube guides but they were kinda meh. They don’t really break down the ins and outs of why they pick the skills they do over others etc. *
