Awesome "could have beens" in TV/Games/Movies

A while ago, I found out how David Jaffe (of God of War/Twisted Metal) would have done God of War 3. Kratos would go after other gods after finishing off the Greek ones.
That was on TV tropes, and the summary was that long. One sentence with no depth to it. It was interesting, but I forgot about it. However, I just saw this vid:
GTTV Extended Cuts Video Game, SDCC 10: David Jaffe Interview | Video Clip | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com
^GOW talk starts at 10:30.

Holy fuck that sounded awesome. In case you don’t have time to watch:
-Zeus dies in the first boss fight, creating a power vacuum in Mt. Olympus that unleashes all the other mythological gods. There’s a power play for who’s gong to take over.
-Kratos somehow gets them fighting against each other. Jaffe didn’t mention it, but I’d assume you kill a few along the way.
-The gods finally die because their neglect of mankind during the war somehow makes people stop believing in them. I didn’t like this part much, but the actual ending of GOW3 wasn’t that awesome either (aside from the very last part).

I’m not saying GOW3 wasn’t awesome. I do feel, however, that this war between a bunch of different gods would have been a great way for things to go down. That titan stuff that got hyped to holy hell culminated in just 2 levels of goodness. But it’s over now.

I’m sure you guys have heard of some cool ways things could have gone down in TV/movies/games.* Maybe the series you’re referencing wasn’t that cool to you, but the early plans could have made it better. Whatever you’ve got though, I’d like to hear it.

*Please don’t use fake stories here. These have to be real planned alternatives that got cut out (deleted scene) or thrown out (early idea).

God of war was ass, after the original game.
Ninja gaiden and devil may cry shit on that series.

Few years back I was looking forward to this.

Never happened but now we have Darksiders… Yeah… Awesome, awesome… Darksiders. Hooray.

Also, that story would have been entertaining. GOW 3’s story sucked pretty hard.

Yeah. I only really say GOW3 was awesome because of graphics and gameplay (which are more than deserving of the title). The story was the weakest of the 3 (even though I HATE time travel and 2 had that).

That reminds me of another game, though this one didn’t even make it into production: Eternal Champions 3. They planned on cramming a lot of awesome stuff in there. Stuff I’m not even sure was possible. But Sega ended up canceling it to promote Virtua Fighter as their premier fighter in the US.

I was always under the impression that a battle toads cartoon would be cool until I saw the pilot episode, it wasn’t too bad but oh well the show got canned after the pilot.

Marvel Secret Wars. The Movie. That would be cool.
Also, i recall (a few years back) reading a dc comic in which Batman went up against Judge Dread.Would make for a cool movie.

Project 880, instead of the Disney-fied Avatar movie. Some parts of Avatar are done better, and the whole story isn’t incredibly groundbreaking to begin with. But the sci-fi in the original concept is a bit darker and more cynical than what showed up in theaters. Stuff that was only onscreen for a few seconds in Avatar (like Norm in shock after his avatar died) has a whole subplot devoted to it. The better parts of 880 probably would’ve ended up in Avatar-- which would’ve at least improved the character development-- if Cameron wasn’t shooting for a simple, ‘general audiences’ blockbuster.

the game BC for the original XBox was literally one of the major reasons I bought an XBox. I couldn’t wait for it, and heard such great things about it. Saw the demo’s at various E3’s, and got hyped. Growing a caveman tribe, and teaching them to hunt other tribes, gather food, etc etc…man, I couldn’t wait.

Then MS fucking cancelled it, then cancelled the OTHER game I wanted (Tru Fantasy Online), which still got a Japan release. Fuck
