Awesome 7-11 Anodized Aluminum Shaft Covers Tutorial

So I started dremel-ing these things this morning, I’m having a slight problem getting straight edges so I keep having to sand them down. Is this the way to go or is there a better method?

(And would you look at that…first injury of the day…from goddamned masking tape :coffee: How the hell do you cut yourself on masking tape honestly).

Very nice find, kinda funny to have swagger for your slurpee. But very nice for the sticks

hope i can get my hands on some.

Go to your hardware store, buy a tube cutter. They are around $10 and work 100 times better than a dremel for something like this. I did use a dremel after I cut it, just to sand down the inside of the edges because the tube cutter will push a tiny tiny tiny amount of the straw inwards, making it impossible to fit. After I used the small grinding attachment on the dremel at an angle on the inside of the straw (Not grinding down any of the length) they fit and looked PERFECT.

Thanks, but I figured it out now  turns out I just had my dremel on waaaay too low. Put it on a higher setting and it cut through it like butter, smoothly too, just needed a small amount of sanding when done, got all five straws cut down in about half an hour.

I tried to find a way for not having to file the inside of the excess metal.
So I used a spare JLF Shaft, because I didn’t want to go buy 5/16" (9mm) dowel.

Well, I have a straw that is stuck to a Shaft now.
Laugh.

The shaft cover does not necessarily protect the shaft itself from moisture, but rather help prevent moisture from traveling down the shaft and entering below the surface into joystick’s base and insides.

can i get a picture of one of these so i can show to it to like each clerk for every 7-eleven I find. Like a picture of it in its entirely, but still noticeable that its anodized aluminum and that its a straw

will this do?

Anyone here have the black straw from last year? I am looking for just 1. Let me know anyone!

There we are…purple one done and dusted. Cut up a few more and may have some spare (Especially of the yellow)

Just got one green and orange one. I’ll try to cut these tomorrow and i’'l have pics up if possible.

Nice one! Looks great, Fran. I`m quite sure I never saw slurpees down in germany.

Can chuck you a sample of the colours if you like  I had to get my straws from the US.

Here’s 2 of my sticks. I used a hax saw to cut these. (I found a dremel + bit but couldn’t find the piece to fit the bit onto the dremel.) This method took me around 7 minutes each plus sanding the edges down.

MvC TE with Green straw:

HRAP 2SA with Orange straw: (I really wanted blue for this but they didn’t have any at our 7-11.)

man i just did this with a blue straw for my gundam stick and it looks awesome :lovin:

does anyone know the exact measurement of the shaft cover? I don’t have one on me so I can’t line it up to cut the straws. (does it differ w/ bat vs ball top?)

We have them in Maryland if you want to take a field trip.

35mm

:frowning: we don’t have 7-11’s out here in Indiana

Still looking for a cut orange if anyone has one they are willing to sell.
