the reason why I read things is to read between the lines. I RARELY read/watch anything on face value. so it’s kind of not fair me sharing my opinion on this topic
Saw it again with friends. And this time with a self proclaimed “iron man” fan that bashes batman with every conversation that he gets. He just praises iron man to the point that i now hate the character just as much as he hates batman. But all to his knowledge he hasn’t a clue about being a fan other than the knowledge he knows from movies and wikipedia. Never has he actually even bought a comicbook in his life, I’ve probably more iron man comics than he has shirts. Hell, I even bought some Avengers vs X-men issues not too long ago. But anyway, he comes in wearing this bright green iron man tokidoki shirt and ends up snoring throughout the whole movie. Fucking embarrassing. He literally fell asleep through the whole movie. I wake him up exactly at the time hulk screams at Iron man, and he jumps up drooling saying “i’d like to see batman do that” and goes right back to sleep. Fuck, I can’t believe i actually paid for this guy to watch with us.
Anyway, he finally wakes up after second credits scene and says that it was the most boring movie he had ever seen. And that he can’t believe he waited to see it after all these years. He also blames me for spoiling the end credits scene, which thus lead him to torrent it weeks before and spoil the whole thing for himself. Idiot. Puts it in my face that avengers is going to make more money than batman, when I’ve actually paid to see the movie twice with him included. And they say us dark knight fans are bad, I just don’t get why we can’t have good comicbook movies and be happy about it for once. Also, I need better friends.
But anyway, AVENGERS, awesome movie. I loved it, girlfriend loved it, and I would pay again to see it.

yeah, yet when he went up against Doomsday, the first thing that happened was he absorbed one punch, then proceeded to be kicked through a fucking house. DC vs Marvel fights get hella weird cuz neither side wants to concede anything, and fan votes are just fucked right up. I still cringe recalling how Batman fucked Captain America’s world up in the sewer. And Wolverine killing Lobo off frame.

Coipel is an excellent artist.
You should really check out Walt Simonson’s Thor run. He not only drew it, but he wrote it as well and he’s the one responsible for introducing more Norse mythology and characters into the storyline and he pretty much reinvented Thor himself.
He set the bar 30 some odd years ago that writers today still aspire to.

Squirrel Girl beating Thanos and Red Hulk beating Thor has the same message that weridly enough goes over current comic book fans’ heads. The same comic book retards who say they hate Superman because he is overpowered but love Batman because he is just human…that also happens to be the smartest, best martial artist, rich, good looking, playboy, has powerful friends who will fight for him yet weirdly anti-social, hangs out with little boys in tights…sometimes gets them killed, can kill anyone but he doesn’t because he is awesome like that…including Darkseid and Superman, he always wins because he prepares for every single event ever conceived yet somehow can never clean up Gotham city with all his money and power (maybe he likes it that way?).
It became nerd wishfulfillment rather than storyline based eventually. Same reason Spider-man is always a victim and can never get a break, even though he is intelligent, good looking (after Ditko-era), funny, has a supermodel for a girlfriend/wife who paid the bills for YEARS while he languished as a freelance photographer. Writers are just too lazy/uncreative to see characters beyond archetypes and comic book fans are too caught up with all the VS matches rather than good story.
I don’t like the hesitation in that probably.
