Avengers movie thread

ummm thor>cap intro

^ This. Thor came in business ready.

…and then supercharged Shellhead so he could get his face dragged against a cliff. =)

yeah…imma call major bullshit on that one. that has never worked in the comics lol. cant let the almighty rdj get owned in a fight.

loki wasnt afraid of cap or iron…but when he heard dat lightening he shat bricks. the villain of the whole movie was shittin himself for 1 man…god.

Great movie.

lolol

Spoiler

Good job Hulk w/ the 1F low cmd grab on Loki. Got that nigga questioning his own existence for a minute.

Not really, I may be a Tony fanboy, but I know his tech, this is from Marvel wikia:

Energy Conversion Power Recharge: The armor is also able to absorb and convert nearby or fare away energy sources, such as** heat** or kinetic energy or energy from the planet itself into electricity, or even drain energy directly into the batteries for recharge.
He’s always had this ability so it’s not surprising it happened in the Avengers, where Thor initially was taking it easy on him with one bolt of lightning.

The difference between 616 Thor and MCU Thor is that, 616 Thor knows exactly how to deal with the Iron Man armor. Hence this:

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e156/marvelkris/Thor%20comics/Thor_3_DCP_0015.jpg

It’s not that the suit can’t handle lightning, it’s just that Thor OVERLOADED the suit with lightning, thereby incapacitating him. MCU Thor has never met a metal man who can absorb various forms of energy into power. It was basically Joss’ way of showing how stupid strong Thor is, without making Tony look like a bitch and still adhering to the comics so than comic book fans like us can’t bash him. Very clever if you ask me.
I hope this settles the whole Iron Man v.s Thor debate, it’s obvious if they were to meet again Thor would learn to overload the suit next time around, or just skip straight to beating him senselessly with his bare fists lol.

That actually reminds me of when I got introduced to Runaways vs Young Avengers. Only had the first 2, and thought it was alright.

Saw the movie last night. Really impressed by it, and I didn’t really have any expectations. I think Hulk killed it overall (the 0F command grab was glorious.). There were more funny lines than I expected; everyone got some good lines in, even Cap. This is a small thing, but I liked the part where

Nick Fury sillyness

Spoiler

Nick tried to use a pistol against a jet. That was a WTF moment.

Was I the only one sad when

Death

Spoiler

Colton died? I remember seeing him way back in the first Iron Man. He was cool.

Overall, another great superhero movie. The final scene after the credits was hilarious.

Oh yeah, don’t forget about Hulk’s anti-air grab.

I found that too much of the movie had him out of place/time. He just went from clueless to leader far to quickly in the movie.

Yeah, IM was pumped for seeing Banner Hulk out

Spoiler

I dont think he will be the next villain. That would be rushing him. He’ll be in the sequel, but just in the background. They’ll flesh him out, and introduce him to the characters, but I don’t see them rushing him. Still have to introduce other characters, and make us realize why Thanos is pimp. I figure he’ll be the Avengers 3 villain. Avengers 2 will likely have him send in one more goon.

Spoiler

I’ve seen a few people discuss this. When he’s discussing it with Banner, he taps it to turn the lights on, so I’m guessing that’s how they’re doing it.

Nick Fury

Spoiler

I loved the scene right after Tony takes the nuke to space. And you see Fury just kinda grin at the camera, and some James Bond type music plays in the background.

Gotta get dat avatar back up.

BladeofJustice is right bout the Thor vs Iron Man fight.

Thor vs IM

[details=Spoiler]Thor was holding back a lot against Tony, we know he enjoys a good fight. If he just one shots everybody with a God blast it’s no fun for anybody. Then Cap jumps in and Thor snaps Tony out. Looool.

Now when he got knocked through the wall by Hulk, that look on his face… “Orly, I can hit this guy as hard as I want…” then nails Hulk with the wake up shoryuken. This is where I blew my first load. I wanted a Hulk vs Thor fight and man did they deliver.
[/details]

He didn’t stand out at all. In a movie where everybody else did.

Spoiler

His fight scenes consisted of bashing shit with his shield, he threw it thrice, and it only had an effect once. He was virtually useless during the entire helicarrier scene. He moped around far too much. Iron Man had to save him during the Loki fight.

I just feel like the scenes they cut of him, would have helped his character out. Hell, the big fuck you chat with Loki, wasn’t even him. And every fucking character brought down one of those huge fucking dragon snake things, except him.

Most of his scenes consisted of him running somewhere. Black Widow did cooler shit than him, and she has zero powers.

It was mad hype.

These four words are all that need to be said about this movie. If you haven’t seen it, do so immediately.

Only gripe the movie needed another hottie. Should’ve found a way to sneak in the wasp in the Movie verse.

Cap did what Cap could do. I wouldn’t expect him to be able to take down one of the dragons. I expect him to worry about civilian lives on the ground, coordinate tactics with local law enforcement and the military while still dirverting the attention of the enemy.

Like a real fucking true red white and blue American hero. He’s the connection point between the common man and super heroes. It is why he is so beloved. Even his powers are just about being the peak of physical human condition. His real gift to all the Marvel Universe is his courage and heart.

I love you Captain America!

Saw it Friday, better than I was expecting. I didn’t see Thor’s movie, but it was still easy to understand what was going on, nonetheless. Had I not seen Captain America, I would have been a bit more confused…

Re: spoilers-
If it’s better if you don’t know about it in advance, it can be spoiled. Even if it has nothing to do with the legit plot, if it is a surprise, and then you make it not a surprise, that would be a spoiler. Common sense, right?

Anyway, about CapAm:

Spoiler

Speaking particularly as someone who didn’t see Thor, it was a pretty good idea to show Cap vs Loki just to further sell Loki as a physical threat. By that point the audience was aware that Cap was preternaturally strong, and to see Loki be able to actually physically do battle with him makes them take Loki a bit more seriously.

During the final battle scene, Cap is the one who recognizes the strengths of the various team members and assigns everyone to their positions. And as FC said, he was literally the one one who was directly involved with protecting civilians and getting them out of danger. Obviously he doesn’t have the same super powers that Thor/IM/Hulk have, and he doesn’t even have Hawkeye’s weapons. But in a quieter way, he is incredibly important to the team. It would be like complaining that Nick Fury didn’t do anything.

I agree he could have used more screen time/story, especially since I think Captain America was the best of this recent batch of Marvel movies, surpassing Iron Man. There was more Cap footage shot, but apparently it was cut so the movie would flow together better.

Yeah, I noticed. That actually bumped me a little, maybe it’ll look different upon repeat viewings.

Spoiler

Dudes definitely got the chin for the role. I was honestly afraid that they would make him completely CG. I loaded a chronological collection of issues dealing with Thanos onto my Kindle and I have definitely missed a bunch. Good parenting with that name.

Spoilers work better when done correctly.

New SRK wants us to omit the = after spoiler, at least on phones.

I think Capt. was severely overshadowed by the Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man.

Even Black Widow did more badass stuff.

Hawkeye was as awesome as a non-acrobatic, slow-drawing archer could be, I guess. SMH

Cursing is my religion. And Jesus fucking Christ, religion has continuity issues.

Also: I am floating, with my eyes closed, with no sails. I am soaking, I am weathered, by the winter of mixed drinks.

That’s great. Unfortunately, the spoiler button shows up for me in my post, but I don’t see it in yours. So we appear to be at an impasse.

edit: Interesting, both work in Opera, but in Chrome only the version with the = works.

edit2: seems like both work. Switched over in last post.

[details=Spoiler]I thought they handled Cap rather well. Of course he isn’t going to take down a GOD one on one, but the fact that he stepped up to take him on says a lot about his character. Even during the IM vs Thor fight, Widow warned him that he was over matched, he jumped after them anyway and guess what, he ended the fight.
I thought he kicked some alien ass rather thoroughly, I don’t know what some of you are bitching about. Of course he bashed shit with his shield, that’s the one equalizer he had in a world of demi-gods, heavily armed alien soldiers, funky giant dragon worms, etc, but it wasn’t like that’s ALL he was capable of, he showed some pretty sweet moves as well.

My only “complaint” is that they didn’t show enough shield ricocheting shenanigans. I would’ve loved to have seen him bounce that thing off twenty alien noggins.

Thor vs Hulk was great. Once they showed the close up of a bleeding Thor smiling, you knew it was on. However, I think Hulk was getting the upper hand before the jet interfered. The sucker punch later on was hilarious.
I also laugh at the fact that Thor struggled so much against Loki in his movie and this one, while Hulk straight out bodies him in a couple of seconds.

If I’m gonna mention anything else about this movie. It’s this. In one GIF;

This part KILLED me. He looks so happy when he slam dunks the guys ass onto the table-thing and stabs his eye XD SO Happy.
Lovely little God of Mischief.

Please tell me that people have seen “Loki’d” ?
