no. Avatar state is cosmic energy attained from raava when Wan touched the energy.

I don’t think she can connect with old avatars now since raava was destroyed and her connection to all past avatars. Korra is of a new age of the avatar

Nobody else pointed it out and I can’t think of another reason for them to show it other than alluding to the avatar state.
