The shit with Mako and Korra got old VERY quickly. Is this their plan to make Mako more redeemable? Have him put up with Korra’s shit all season? lawlz
I’m not really mad at Korra beccause she’s a teenage girl and she’s going through that annoying “I’ll do what I want! Suck it parents!!!” phase but it won’t do her any favors with the fandom if she keeps this up. I have faith in the writing tho.
I mean it took almost 2 FUCKING YEARS for this season to be finished so I’m sure all the writing will be great with all that time.
basic thoughts on tonight’s premiere:
- man, korra seemed like a mean jerk to everyone
- bolin is pretty great
- that new business guy is awesome
- creepy twins are hilarious. but still creepy
- and uncle obvious villain is most obvious villain
Just wanted to add that the animation was top fuckin’ notch.
Yeah, I feel you on that ‘rebellious teenager phase’ Korra’s displaying. Just hope it doesn’t take more than a few episodes for her to shake out of it.

Completely forgot about this show, until I saw this thread just now. I forgot most of what happened but I remember loving this show and a lot of you guys complaining about it being too rushed. Will watch ep1 tonight online.
It was a bit rushed because half way through the season they were told they suddenly had another 39 episodes and had to get ready to set shit up.
I say korra is going more through a transition to a typical bitchy adult woman then a teenager acting out.
Some rebel teenagers can be funny and relatable but korra is just straight up on PMS and in swift need of a pimp slap to check her.

Yeah, considering how busted up it was, it’s an extreme likelihood that statue was of the First Avatar.
And again, Korra’s Avatar State is weak because her spirituality is still pretty low.
I remember from Avatar: The Last Airbender it was mentioned that waterbenders were easy going, go-with-the-flow people. I just don’t see that in Korra’s impetuous attitude.
It’s not an all-consuming trait. It’s a stereotype more than anything.
Mako and Bolin also do not share common traits with the elements they control.
That wasn’t said of people from the water nation, it was said of Avatar Kuruk. When Iroh gave his description he said ‘Water is the element of change. The people of the Water Tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything’. In a way it if fitting that Korra originates from the water tribe, seeing as the world changed so much; the same way it was fitting that Aang was the Avatar in an era of oppression.
I love the twin sister’s dialouge. Especially that early banter between her and Bolin.
Her: Okay, I will make him mine.
Bolin: “Mine” as in boyfriend…or slave?
Her: Yes.
“Why did you engage in physical contact with another woman?!”
Bolin: O_O
