Played against Katenasosu or whatever. For like an hour. Of pain. Yeah, he/she’s got the risk/reward factor down so much it hurts. I don’t think I’ve raged this hard in MVC3 between lag and having any random hit = 80%+ gone. I actually think I’d be able to win if there wasn’t lag and I was able to TK air fireball more consistently. But until I can get Wolfkrone execution with 0.1 sec. of lag, it’s a battle I’m doomed to lose. :frowning:

^ You know, jump-ins arent really that good in this game anyway, but it seems with lag/online they really put you at a disadvantage, and when playing someone like Katenasosu, and Yadamon, they have a jab punish against a blocked jump-in, that cant even be done offline, or even in moderate/good online conditions.

Anyway, some thoughts on a larger update, maybe AFO V.2?

System

  • Target chains. SNK style, where someone might have a LP > back+LP as a jab into an elbow. They could be varied per style.
  • Knock-up move should vary by style. Say Alex “uppercut” would be back+HK, and would look like Hwoarangs f,d,d/f+4 launcher
  • Jump angle, and speed changed. As it sits, anti air is unstoppable.
  • Priority given to jump-ins. J.punch has to be ultra deep to be unpunishable,(is still punishable online) and the opportunities to even go for one are slim.
  • More light jumping attacks, similar to Bill
  • Ability to do L > H attack air chain. Would work the same as ground chains
  • EX moves. Maybe cost 1/2 time.
  • Super Cancel. What I mean is the glitch Janks found with Spinkick X Pounce. Make it into an actual universal move. Maybe cost 1/2, 3/4 or full time. d,d+2P?

Moves (ideas are slim)

  • Teleport (Wesker/Deadpool) You would think losing an offensive special would suck, but an instant/almost instant tele would be useful for evasion, and mixup
  • Rekkas
  • more unique light attacks
  • A Juri style overhead
  • An all punches new “Mike” style
  • Air throws for some styles

Game

  • A couple of different walking animations spread between styles
  • Another throw type
  • Another stage or 2, with day/night variations
  • Fighting attires for default characters. (If we paid for costumes, would MrBrian be able to include them in the game?)
  • Maybe a slight revamp on the default characters (change their eyes, give them personality)
  • It could be ver 2.0 or simply AFO2. Calling it Avatar Fighter Online 2 does separate it from what it is, which could help bring new people.
  • Would obviously be a paid update.

I think these changes would be possible, while keeping the game still mostly the AFO we know, and love. It would just make for more options, and things would look “prettier” and that would draw in some of the people who disregard the game as it is. Again, I go back to the Desk vids; they think it’s just Desk being Desk, rather than the game actually just being fucking awesome. Anyone with a modicum of FG skills could pick this up, understand, and play it well as it is. But unfortunately it needs a bit of easier, more accesible flash to draw in those who are not as open to discover. I think if they see a crazier ground game, without having to dig, it would open the door widely for this game.

That said, I think others should suggest things as well, and as I am, be willing to donate to help it out if Mr.Brian thinks its worthy, and things came to fruition.

Er, was that directed at me? I never mentioned jump-ins. Only TK (instant-air) fireballs. Very big difference. Essentially a guaranteed way to win a fireball war against freeze ball and then lockdown.

Actually, I was giving an example of their risk/reward/punishment game. The online in this game does change things that are very strict with timing, like TK, and TK light attack cancelling work. Infact I’d bet they could punish a close attempted TK air fireball corner pressure with a jab due to the online.

Like trying to jump in, its one of those things affected by the distance from US > Japan. Or rather how shitty our internet is compared to…everyone else’s.

NEW MOVE for 1.3e/1.4/ or AFO 2… Teleport Stump. You know how Bill or Jimmy come out of the air and land on one knee, (Bill’s Super Throw after & Jimmy’s fake Teleport Kick w/ LK) make it the same way as Teleport Kick only with Punch. LP would do a fake version w/ the green smoke but never left, HP with smoke also but the real thing coming down on one knee. If you Down-Back block, it will count as a mid hit, a “full” hit would be the same as Super Throw one time, half of Super Throw w/ 2 standing mid hits like Ryan, Alex, Cyn and Jill???

Last one: Ever had a fan asking you & inviting you to parties saying “how do you be doing those combo’s like that friend?” I always tell them go to Training & Practice. Fast Forward---- for them to get better and perform combos like the pro’s, make a new mode call, “Horse” Will be set up just like a lobby, Learn the moves better and the "how to’ will be at the bottom or on the left side like SF.

Hello everyone…Any word on AFO 2? or is this game dead? I haven’t been on alot these days because I’m practicing to qualify for EVO2013.

But I tried to play AFO several times but noone seems to be on.

Haven’t been playing much due to the lack of people.

Hey guys, not much new with AFO these days. I’ve just been working on a simple wrestling game for the last while.
Not sure what I’m gonna do with AFO afterwards, maybe I could port it to iOS? Although playing on a touch screen is kindof crappy.
