what is going on?? who cares if it’s 8 judges? all i want from the judges are to check friday morning at 10am EST. The only problem i see is there is a more likely chance of having a judge not show up on friday. If the judges can make a commitment on friday there is No Problem :tup:

What makes a good SRK avatar? As far as I can tell, a “good” SRK avatar is one that’s noticed and like by the people who see it.
The VAST majority of the people who see avs do not know how to make them. Actually, by having over half of the judges as av makers themselves, I’m skewing the population in favor of the av makers.
I think it’s important to have the opinion of those that don’t know the technical process, as most of the people that will see an avatar don’t. I think that judges like you, Chibi, are great because they really focus on the technical aspect of things. On the other hand, I think that the lay-SRK’er is far more inclined towards content. Take the last contest for example. SunocO’s “Just Parry It” got a lot of votes because people went “OMG Daigo!” even though it wasn’t the most technically impressive one there.
But you know what? In a year, I bet people from SRK will remember “Just Parry It”, because it’s got that “OMG Daigo!” factor that makes it work.
I kind of think of you like the Simon Grimm of my judging panel, Master Chibi (RN, does that make you Paula Abdul? 
). You’re rude, opinionated, and don’t get along too well with some of the other judges, but you judge objectively based on your criteria, and you’re not afraid to give your opinions.
Frankly, I think it’s a good think to have a widely diverse panel of judges. That’s why I like having prolific av-makers like OC and Slide, People who’ve been heavily involved in spriting and have done some avs, like Xenozip. and Shatterstar, people who have no experience on the technical side of av-making like OrochiTempest, RandomNigga, and Evil Morrigan, and yes, even punks like you, Chibs.
I think you’ve ALL done great jobs in this. Don’t let Chibi push you guys around.
(and btw, I am keeping stills and animations completely separate this time as you requested. As you can see, there’s no “best in show” category this time around. It’s like I’m running 2 completely different contests–one for animations, and one for stills.)

EDIT: Ok…I read through all the prattle, and it seems the consensus is that there are too many judges. RN and Slide already stepped down? EM and shatterstar expressed similar intentions. Yeesh. OK, I’ll have to figure out the judges for this one…I’ll get back to you later today.

BTW, I now have 17 entries, with more on the way…so it’s looking like we’re gonna have around 20 (or maybe more) this time.
I’m not pushing anyone around. I’m not the only one saying eight judges is too much. If you guys want to take it as ‘crying’ you go ahead and do that. You’re free to keep all eight, this is your contest, I’m just throwing suggestions out. I’ve already been proved wrong twice, and I’m happy I was actually, so take that as you will.
And when I said stills and animation seperate I mean as in the entire contest is either just stills or just animation, not both, but you know what, the way you have it now works much better.
