This is turning out to be the best comp yet!
So far I have 14 avs (7 in each category) and there’s still over 2-days left (and SEVERAL artists who I’m still expecting to turn in entries by then)!
The quality of these is also top notch! A few of these are real showstoppers.
I’m really looking forward to sharing these with you guys on friday.

Quiche, Since most of the people here think there are too many judges, you can remove me fron the list.
I’ve never made an Avatar before so I’m probably not as qualified to judge the entries as someone who has exeprience creating these. I’ve always thought of my reviews as observations and thoughts of the average (non-avatar making) SRK’er, and after reading the other Avatar battle results threads its obvious that some people really dont want an outsider judging. :xeye:

Personally, I think you’re plenty qualified to judge. There are other judges who don’t make AVs on the panel too, like RandomNigga and OrochiTempest.
Only 2 people have commented on the large number of judges, but whatever. You’re still welcome to judge if you want. I don’t think that I have too many judges, really. I mean, the more diverse the judging crowd is, the better representation the judgements get, right? Besides, we’re looking at a record number of entries for this contest, so Chibi’s assertion that there will be more judges than entries in each category is dead wrong.

Well the thing is sometimes there is more diversity if you pick people with diversity rather than have a lot of judges. 6 is already pushing it, but 8? That’s like the olympics, but even the olympics choose only 6 of the scores. And having 8 could present the problem of actually having to wait for judges to chime in before commenting at all on the works. That adds more time to the judging and critiquing process and in the end that just dampers enthusiasm. That’s what kinda fucked up the tag battle held earlier in the year because of the post contest activities were handled wrongly.
What else could present a problem is that if the judges are similarily like minded, it could favor one contestant over others. Diversity doesn’t come from having more, it comes from choosing different people. But so far that problem hasn’t presented itself as obvious as it could be. If anything (and considering the amount of entrants) this would probably the real acid test on how good these contests are. I’m impressed very there are 14 entries. You’re handling it well Quiche.

if the person im thinking of wins this contest, then this shit is rigged and judges are biased. So let’s see if this contest is actually fair, because all of us can probably tell which avy belongs to who, so yeah
Yeah I’m happy that I was dead wrong, giving a broad theme helped out plenty.
I still think eight judges is a bit much, and that it should be cut down by half at least. And I know you like getting entires from a few certain folks, but having judges enter the competition they have authority just doesn’t work, regardless of how objective we are. You’re one or the other.

I’d rather not have the judges enter into the battle. It just doesn’t seem fair, but on the other hand that would push the current 8 judges to resign thier position JUST to enter. Rather than have judges, make it the traditional Poll way. To be fair to everyone. :3
oh and quiche, there really should be a theme. A motivation, etc.
