Is there a way to keep your mind fresh and get rid of autopilot habits? What’s the source? They are easily punished and baited. It just seems uncontrollable sometimes…What you guys think? I get tired of seeing ppl throw a far st mp then a sweep right after…or having obvious patterns in the wakeup game…SRK feed my mind…
Troll:
UOH every sweep, stuffing them until they stop.
Learn:
Adjust in game. Stop yourself from dash (back then forward, heh) throw, or 1 parry throw. You can just scope out the situation, crouch block and learn some habits… watch them auto pilot on you.
Auto-pilot wins games online. And online is the ultimate 3S arena.
Learn to access the situation and do something different.
Thanks for the replies, I’m starting to understand a bit. It feels like it’s easier to notice your opponents’ autopilot tendencies than to notice your own. So while i’m trying to exploit his…he’s tagging mine. Asking your opponent about this subject seems beneficial. EX. Hey, did you notice any patterns in my gameplay?
Play better people.
Stop playing online since that’s where most of the bad habits come from but who can blame you its the only way to play online unless you have a perfect connection. Or if you don’t have any offline comp stop playing the game for a while…
Auto pilot habits are the worst
Like ken cross up mk (blocked) target combo, wait a second, sweep. It’s automatic. And most people online aren’t going to punish it so it gets ingrained in your brain.
I agree online sucks for this. Can’t react, do stuff on guessing or prediction. Bad news.
Sometimes there is an action/strategy I have stuck in my mind that I’m trying to execute like “Oh I’m gunna land a dive kick to kara demon on this fool and it will be sweet and he will be dead.” Problem is its easy to miss three opportunities for a hit confirm to super if you’re fixated. In the heat of an intense match this isn’t always possible but when auto mode kicks in it helps me to just take a breath, slow things down and pay better attention to the opponent to get the rhythm of battle back. Reactions fade as anticipation sets in.
Good players will blow up auto piloting so if you can play them often you’ll be faced with adapt or lose, I think that’s your best bet. Otherwise, just try and approach the game with a mindset to not autopilot.
this autopilot stuff runs deep…like after a while mixup becomes just longer patterns or strings of autopilot…its disgusting…play by play is the way to go

I’m glad there’s at least one person out there that can see it that way.
Autopilot is actually a product of online play. Many GGPO players, play this way. RIP 3s. I miss you already.
what I don’t understand is how does autopiloting work online and not offline? whats draws that line? level of competition available?
online allows for stuff to go unpunished due to the lag, and situations that offline can be dealt with pure reactions need guessing.
I tried playing online several times, and I just can’t get into it. It’s so frustrating when I have to guess hi-low on overheads that I’m quite able to block on reaction offline, and other stuff like that. I can’t just play the same way as offline because it doesn’t work. Bottom line, I don’t play online.
just need to play with another person willing to play to think. not just play to win and abuse latency.
usually what this means for lesser players (like me) is playing at a somewhat slower pace. better players can play very fast and also very thoughtful.
the speed of thought part comes in time. better to work on thinking fluidly, even if its slower and you get shredded by random autopilot e-lords.
hey dude, glad to see you’re okay.
my area is mostly ok. gas rationing though.
the line for gas this morning was all the way down the street and down my block 0_0
?? Auto-pilot nationalism?
