i think larry deserves a through flogging. if santa visits this thread, he will look at the APEX points and then make Larry share after he flogs him. :fury:
venie: its cool man, i’ll be back in town around dec 18th so we can set up something then. i’ll need something to do after getting my wisdom teeth out.
That’s what I was thinking, and the general public probably won’t be as picky as us on which buttons are in anyway. The first shipment actually comes with convex buttons, though I’m not sure what kind. I just remember they felt really cheap.
In designing these sticks they were looking to replicate the arcade experience, and all arcade fighters have concave buttons. If there are some with convex I have yet to see them. I’m not sure but I think making different sticks with different buttons in them would drive up production costs, and one of the main selling points of this stick is supposed to be its price. It’ll be at least half as cheap as a MAS.
What kind of buttons does Steve have? I played on his MAS a while back and it felt fine to me.
theres two kinds of concaved, the tall ones are not good. Japanese cabinets use convex, but its little different, it looks just like the ones on the current console joysticks. i recommend the buttons the x-arcade if youre getting concaved, which feel like ultimates but shorter. those buttons are sold at happ which are called pushbuttons with horizontal switches.
kevin: i have the ultimate buttons, but they are way too hard. Go with the convex or LL-type buttons, they are much better. I agree with most ppl here that my MAS buttons suck, i just dun like it when a certain fagnoid on this thread makes it a point to rag on 'em every chance he gets…
larry!! look what you caused. You should be nicer, to youre fellow taiwan. Larry, just because you dont like the buttons doesnt mean theyre not good. Whatever youre used to is the best stick.
steve: sorry about larry, and thx for the when and where.
edit: i think we should have a team tournament some time
but larry would be against it since the winners would have to divie up the APEX points and larry is a greedy bastard. hes 7th in the nation thnx to those LL tourneys. horrible.
Yup, we’re still having one this weekend. You do know however if you entered the weekly at SG in Houston, you won’t get any points in our tournament right?
Also given the LL situation, I was thinking maybe we can do a team competition if we get enough people, and that basically means you get a team of 3 or 2 people, the person who starts the match can either lose, or he can win one and lose to the next person, or he can win it all by himself. I don’t know if this will work or not because we only have so many people but it could be fun and mix things up a little.
Larry, you can be on my team. It might be kind of boring for you though cause you will never get a chance to play since I will play first. What time should I show up?
whats a mopreme? is that a some korea guy under there? mark im glad you have come out of retirement, the mvc2 comp has is really lacking. come at 2
well mark knows the japanese rules better, but i believe team tournies have this rule. Same team and order through out entire tournament. that should make it more fun (funner) and each team unique. ive thought about random draw of teams, but thats unfair too. i think the best way is to pick someone.
i say pick the best top players in austin for captain…then random drawing their teams…so it should be fair, instead of having larry, brad, and sungjin against everyone…so if we have 12 peeps for tourney we should do 3v3v3v3, with 4 captains then random pick their team mate…in this atleast we get to know each other a liltle better.
i also want to change it up a lil once in a while…team should be fun.
btw kantele, can u change the buttons?? and if u can how soon can u do it, cause i’m seriously need a joy stick bad…
I’m gonna bring my friend who is designing the joysticks to the tourney on saturday so he can get everyone’s input, so hopefully there’s a big turnout. Maybe if you guys could bring your own sticks and show him some features you’d like to have or something, I dunno.
Eric: The first shipment won’t be available until sometime after Christmas, and they’re gonna come with pretty shitty buttons and an average stick. But, I’ve been told that these initial sticks will be sold for only 25-35 dollars which is probably a fair price for the box alone. You could order your own buttons and joystick if you wanted to and still get a quality stick for 50 bucks or less, something like that. I’m gonna post a couple of pictures as soon as I figure out how…
Ok scratch that I don’t know how to upload stuff, but he’s gonna bring a couple more prototypes with combinations of different sticks and buttons to see what you guys think.
if 3on3, which i would like better, do a round robin. which shouldnt take long. Also i think eric’s idea of having captain’s is good, but i guess saying the best 3, 4, and 5 is disputable. I think larry and brad are best two of austin but whos 3, 4 and 5? maybe captains should be made with apex points. lol, the most accurate way to see whos the best.
Finally figured out why I suck at team tournaments, I fold under pressure too easily and it certainly doesn’t help when it’s only 1 match and you can’t make any mistakes, did I also mention Minh is RANDOM!!!
Team tournament results:
1st: Ghetto Asians [(Minh, Sungjin, Robert(for the first 2 rounds)]
2nd: Justin, Manuel, Larry
3rd: Mark, Steve, Eric
4th: Jason, Qui, Kevin
5th: Steven, David, Brad (personally, I thought this team was going to win, yay to one round matches).
6th: Mike, Charley, Joaquin.
Time to get opinions, what do you guys think about the team tournament? I liked it but I definitely won’t try to do it again unless the majority of you wants it, usually if you play in a singles tournament, you get more matches (4 at least), in a team situation, your whole team could be out and you only got to play 2 matchs. I say next time if we get a decent amount of players again, we do singles and if people are still there, we can do teams and no losers bracket.
