**Austin Thread MVC2**

Anyone going to head up to WW tommorow at LL?

isnt WW a complete rip off tho? i mean with 10 bucks you get like 22 games i think, oh well i might just go and blow my hard earned money cause i wanna learn to play the game a bit more

yeah it’s sorta a rip…but my old bud Stephen is going to be there and he and me always are great comp against each other. Do I know you? And plus I need the practice cuz I want to try and get to one of these S.A. weeklys.

Hey guys just wanted to let you know that i have tomorrow off and will be going to LL to play. If anyone wants to meet up just say what time. Laterz.

On another note I just wanted say that I can’t wait to see L.A. pick up their trophy tonight.

I will meet you up there around 3 or so. I have never herd so much belly achein in all my life as I did on tuesday coming out of my own mouth about the damn slanted sticks that don’t block down and don’t like 2p to be pressed at one time. I will try to beat you there to try out the other side. Larrys bitch ass lost to nobody but me so I never got to see if it was any better. LL = run up and throw out crouching lks and you win for free

Haha, I feel the same way. Hate that facking place. Gonna check my schedule for days we can play at my house before the Houston Tourney. Gotta see if I can get off for that tourney too.

JW and I are staying at Larry’s. See you guys this weekend. I’m bringing my MAS sticks too.

Houston has 24 ppl show up for a tourney on tuesday night!?! Austin would be lucky if we could get more than 5 with a months notice on a saturday. We live in a marvel waste land where the oasis is just 3 hours away…

Some one that knows please give me a good starting character or three and groove for CvS2. I tried playing the game last night and I need some help. Also, maybe a tentative tier list. It doesn’t have to be exact, just who is good and easy to learn so I can get started learning the game. Blanka?

I’ll be there at three anyone else going?

Sagat and Blanka will be your friends in this game, they’re good and their basics are pretty easy to learn. I don’t play Blanka but Sagat is basically tall and big so he has range built in for him, use c.fierce as a weapon when opponent is far, that move beats many things if they retaliate. When they jump you can do many things, tiger uppercut is always good (fierce version) and if you have lv 3 super, you can do tiger shots super (2 qcf + punch) and usually hit them for full damage. For grooves I would suggest pick either C or N groove, they seem to be the overall most balanced groove and widely used ones. I hate this game!! If your character has no answer to low jumps, you will die horribly to a N groove Blanka, pure and simple.

Who do you like to play? Simple top tier is probably like Sagat, Blanka, Cammy, Yamazaki. Sagat’s FP’s are just too good, same with Cammy and Yama’s standing RH. Blanka in a low jump groove is just tough to keep off you.

Other pretty simple people are Chun-Li (abuseable spinning bird kick, good pokes), Hibiki (easy chains and anti-air), and Athena (c. FP is your answer to everything). Then there are annoying people like Iori (awesome roll, good chains), Sakura (great crossover and you can tag the rushing DP into anything, RH is awesome), Geese (Crossover and normal chain for a lot of guard break).

Those are probably the easiest decent people to learn since they all have abuseable or high priority stuff. Grooves, you’ll basically see C, N, and A. N’s pretty much has everything. C’s solid but no low jump. A just leads to huge combos but probably not the way to start learning. K is probably the most fun though  S and P can be annoying but you have to work harder.

Play Ryu/Blanka/Sagat(2), N groove C groove or K GROOVE!

Ryu in N or K is good, running is real good with him, run short short, hurricane kick. Pokewith back fierce, low forward, low strong. Link short short into like any super you want.

Blanka too good, Sagat too good. K groove lets you get beat up and earn meter =)

Ok, now that im done with my PS2 binge, im going to LL tomorrow around 5 or 6. If anyone wants to met, post or something…

FFX = :frowning: /:eek: /:mad:

Ok, JW and I are coming down tommorrow due to dhgfhdhghghwhgfhfsg.

Leaving at noon, see you guys tommorrow.

Ummm N groove is the most versatile, has the most movement options. If I’m not playing N groove I’m in K, I like K just b/c it still has low jumps and run, (quick getups are nice too) and it gives you the opportunity to escape AAs whens you jump in. It also keeps you from rolling so you don’t get punished as much when playing w/ good people (they’ll punish you rolling at wrong times really well).

Main piece of advice is learn to low jump really well, and also, learn block combos (things to do while your opponent is blocking that keeps them blocking). I think the combos you do while they’re blocking can sometimes be more important than when you actually hit them. It just keeps the pressure on.

Good characters IMO: Iori, Terry, M. Bison, Hibiki (part of Larry’s Team “Bitches”), Athena (yet another member), Sagat (this guy is amazing, another member of Larry’s “Bitch” team), Blanka, the shotos (mainly Ken though cause thats all I’ve played), Sakura, Rolento, Rock, Cammy, Kim…

and then other people that are playable like Yamazaki, Chang, Morrigan…

<shruG> Probably leaving out some really good people but thats all thats coming to mind right now. I think a good beginning team to get you started would be something like:

N Iori, (whoever), Sagat

Sagat will teach you keep away really well and once you get further into the game you can learn things like running pokes to keep pressure on after a block chain and ways to trap people into jumping into supers or what not (which is why I like K also). Iori will help teach you rush down and how important cross ups can be, his combos are really simple too. You basically throw fireballs and run around and roll (his roll is great! just don’t do it too much) throwing out crouching shorts into his qcb p x3 chain. And once you learn him a little better you can start learning to tick into his command throws and other ways to set up his combos. Abuse his back+short when you jump over your opponent, great cross up.

Oh yeah, and learn charge people too. I had never learned to play charge people until this game b/c I hated charging so much. I avoided the charge characters in every fighting game I played up until this one. But if you want to learn CvS2, you’re going to have to learn Blanka and M. Bison sometime. They’re just powerhouses.

If you have any other questions I can try and be of some help. I’ve been playing a lot of CvS2 recently. I like it

I’ll be going to LL about 3 today if anyone else is going post up.

Moi and ERiQ “might” go to Lake Lione. Ta ta
