Disgaea and Trauma Center say no.
Not to mention that they’re games are quite easy to find for the first few months. Example Persona 3 is rare now yes, but it wasn’t 3 weeks ago.
In defense of Atlus, the games they make are rare because retailers stop ordering the games, not because Atlus intentionally cuts-off prints. That’s the harsh reality of being a niche publisher with a dedicated fanbase.
Personally I think the fact that the dudes who are even localizing AH in america (and posting on SRK no less askign or bugfixes) is pretty sick. White Rob even went as far as to say that they asked Examu for reworked training mode, general patches and bugfixes. (while not everything was added that atlus requested, its besides the point…) It’s not every day that you see this kind of stuff.
atlus definetely gets points in my book for that one. very classy move…its not every day that you see companies doing this kind of stuff when it comes to fighters especially.
atlus is one of the few game companies i still like, they arnt afraid to take chance here and there by bringing over a game that could be amazing or could be complete garbage. overall atlus goes for games that have a nice gameplay and that people will buy for fun and not for looks.
i’m talking about 6 months from now and 3 weeks ago it was rare. go check ebay. for a game thats hyped like persona 3 its a shame atlus didn’t print more copies but at least its coming here so you guys better pre-order cause stores won’t likely carry a game like this. and disgaea was not rare anymore because NIS america pushed for more copies not atlus. if nis didn’t do anything disgaea would still be rare.
Just because their games don’t have fancy 3D graphics doesn’t mean people don’t buy them for looks.
If Amazon still sells it on it’s original price from Amazon.com then it isn’t rare.
Atlus still publishes the original Disgaea which is easy to find, hell up into a couple months ago it was still available on their site.

atlus don’t usually print more copies of their games after the initial batch. yes atlus has the license to publish disgaea before NIS america was formed but it’s still NIS’s game and I think someone else published it and slapped the atlus brand on it otherwise NIS america would be the one publishing instead.

^Pretty much true, ATLUS last year finally got of their asses to restock Trauma Center since it was like well nowhere to be found, but it’s the same thing for damn near all their games just get rare then disappear i.e SMT Nocturne, but I do give them props for bringing this overseas

Do you know what sort of localizations Atlus will be doing? Just text? Voices? Are there any changes we’re going to be seeing like that? Also, if they do put in english voices will we have the option to change them back to Japanese? I’m not some weaboo purist, but generally english voice acting is pretty horrible and cheesy, at least if it’s cheesy in Japanese I can’t understand what they’re saying and still imagine it’s “Oh Faight you’re so hot I want you” instead of whatever moonspeak they spew.

Would this be a good game for a button-masher? I’m thinking of getting my gf this since she likes loli-type stuff, but I’ve only seen this played in tourneys. How does it stack up for mashers. She can do a hadoken by spazzing it out, but that’s about it. She also likes that loli-type cutesy stuff. It would come out around her birthday time…
The training mode deffinately needs work (random counter for the WTF), but I guess that should probably be left for AH2. They need to make sure they get this game right before trying to add more stuff.
i was noticing random counter hits in training mode too, it turned out that the training dummy (Kamui) goes to sleep after standing idle for a period of time. She gets noticeably tired then starts to nod off, then will wake back up (kind of like sonic the hedgehog). If you hit her while shes in the sleepy part of the stance, you get counter hit. Maybe this is what you encountered?
If it it hasn’t been mentioned, I think SHORTCUT MODE might be implementable in some fashion, in a game like this where load times can get annoying. Maybe its infeasible, because it seems like it would be automatic since there is a continue option after the fight anyway, but I’d love for that continue to somehow reworked to eliminate load time for the same bout.
What’s wrong with the last post?
This game is pretty much the opposite of a button masher. IAD, silly long combos, etc. Honestly the execution level doesn’t feel that high, but it’s definitely not mash friendly. If she can instant air dash and hit f+D then she can do 90% of the BnBs in the game.
I"m talking about lower level then that even. Someone who is happy just getting to the 3rd CPU opponent in most games…
I know AH isn’t for me (Games like Arcana tend to render my style of play completely ineffective- so I don’t enjoy them) , but I figure with the chars and stuff the gf might like it- and I know AH isn’t a bad game.
btw AH is now reservable in case anyone’s wondering …
honeslty the training mode just needs some work, and the loading times… and bugs in this game… .and it’ll be fine
um jubei why don’t you stop bitching… if you know it’s gonna be hard to find… try getting when it comes out… every atlus perchuse i bought ( i just got into atlus btw with devil summoner) and figured out quickly… that if you don’t buy then… then gl finding it now…stop being stupid and buy the game…im sure atlus never intended on it…( read white rob’s post) it’s the retailers who don’t why to purchase anymore of the games… so buy your games early
I’ve never played it, but I’m pretty stoked about it just after watching some match vids. Already preordered. 
serious answer. =P i think your gf would enjoy this game. and i think it works just fine for button mashers. theres plenty of command moves, moves that send your opponent across the screen, etc… w/ cool animations that will come out if someone is mashing (especially playing vs another masher). as long as your gf is always moving towards her opponent i think itll be fine.
example: here the voice actresses of saki (blue hair) and maori (miko) play a match against each other. plenty of mashing going on here.
