Atlanta Kombat Week #3 - Pre-Tourney Jason Voorhees Exhibition and a $300 Pot Bonus at Stake

Tonight, we will see Yomi Gaming’s third weekly for Atlanta Kombat Arena, and in honor of the first incoming DLC character coming to Mortal Kombat X this Tuesday (Jason Voorhees), we’ve got quite a treat for our players and you, the viewers!

What is it, you ask? Simple: an on-stream exhibition showcasing the capabilities behind Jason.

Because of the date for which he is scheduled for release, it is painfully apparent that none of our players would have adequate time to prepare for Jason if he were to be allowed in tournament play this week. Of course, much of the MK community has been eager for his arrival, as have we, and we certainly do not want to pass up some valuable time to get in on the action. So in order to compromise, a volunteer shall be playing the character against our Yomi warriors in an exhibition outside of the tournament itself.

We will update you once we reach a decision on who that volunteer will be.

Now, on to the tournament itself. We’ve featured a lot of amazing players as special guests for Yomi Gaming during our first two weeks, and this Tuesday shall be no different. In addition to Hitbox Tyrant, YOMI Michaelangelo, and KIT FOREVER KING making their return to the Atlanta Kombat Arena, we will also be joined by MF SLAYER from the southern section of California! Combined with the Yomi crew, our match-ups look staggering, and that’s all the better for your enjoyment!

A pot bonus will be on the line again this week, but this time it is reduced to $300 from its original value of $1,000. But should player support for Yomi Gaming continue to progress, increased pot bonuses remain a possibility.

Other games to be supported this Tuesday include Killer Instinct (Xbox One), Injustice: Gods Among Us (Xbox 360), and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Playstation 3), and each of these titles will have a $100 pot bonus up for grabs.

Mortal Kombat X itself will be played on the Playstation 4. This is a BYOC event (bring your own controller).

Payout for each game will be contributed to the top three placers of each game, depending on turn-out.

This should have been elaborated upon in our last few posts, but in contrast to most other locals we’ve put a new ruling regarding MKX Top 8 matches into effect. Rather than just the Winner’s, Loser’s, and Grand Finals, every single match taking place in Top 8 shall be conducted in a best 3 of 5 format. We like to watch and learn from the competition, so why not broaden the fun?!

The Yomi Gaming venue is located at the following address:

643 Shelton Ave SW
Atlanta, GA, 30310

Make sure to park your vehicle in an appropriate location so that nobody’s car gets towed!

Venue fee will be $10 plus another $10 per game, or if you wish to spectate, it will just be $5. Sign-ups will open at 7:00 P.M. Eastern Time and will last until 8:30 P.M.
