At the Eye of The Ragin Storm Part II-Out with VCRs, in with DVD recorders!

Well, the biggest thing for 2p Duck would be that after the down A, F+B, he recovers first. At that range, he is at frame advantage and he can react to almost anything you try to do and counter with stuff like his almighty down A or grab supe. I just “try” to block more and stay alert for openings.

Anyway, Duck is really a linear character. I am inclined to say that he is a pretty shallow character. Kinda like Kyo.

Notice how DarkGeese won the obsolete fighting comps. but only takes it home in KoF NeoWave. :S

Who was your team btw? Yashiro, Chin Gen. and Choi Bounge? heh

Are you saying that KOFXI is a game that appeals to scrubs?

While it is true, it is also true that you can roll, super, stand C/D, slam, etc to counter that move.

It’s GOTTA be a bit more than just 1…I don’t know exactly how many it is, and as Orochi said, no frame data exists for modern SNK games.
So I can’t really prove it, but I believe it has to be more than just 1 frame.

your oversimplification of xi makes the game look bad…

Empyrian- I am saying that Hyperhop all day makes KOFXI a much more watered down version of the KOF and albeit an easier version of the KOF series. While I am for making things more accesible, I am also part of me against making it TOO user-friendly. I can’t think of a KOF game where Hyperhops dominate sooo much. The strategy for KOF is Hyperhop till you win…in a nutshell and mix it up with lows…

Too much Hyperhop Spammage makes the game look scrubbish at times believe me! It will always the one of the least played games to me for that reason…hopefully that is something they will fix in KOFXII.

I aint for watching mindless hyperhopping…makes the game look TOO EASY.

I like the more strategic based KOFs where Hyperhop aint so damn overpowered. I mean a kid can play Gato or Kula…I mean damn Just Hyperhop anything with Gato and you’ll be fine…

Is that no noobish or what? The more I play KOF98 the more I like it better than KOFXI…not anyone can pick up KOF98 play it and expect to win…Hyperhop all day in KOF98=DEATH.

Its also why I take serious pleasure destroying hyperhoppers with Young Geese in NeoWave. You can’t Hyperhop and expect to win…

Bear Ryoma- What r you talking about? I’m lost. In KOF NeoWave I used Young Geese, Iori, Saisyu, Athena-SC/MAX2 Mode.

Saisyu is my Anchor…

I don’t stray too far from them…and I always start with Young Geese…I put my best foot up front… and the toughest one to beat.

Also in other KOFs like 98 defense is important.

Defense against a Good Gato or Duck King in KOFXI?

Defense=GUARDCRUSH which equals LDM in KOFXI. Too many things Guardcrush too easily.

Once again I do like KOFXI…but its not my favorite by far and the more I play it in tournaments the more of its flaws I see.

Rogueyoshi- I’m just stating the truth about the game in general. Hyperhop is too powerful…it really is…

yo im goona say “hyperhop” now instead of super jump. What do u call short Jumping? Whitemanhop? thats what i call it.

Btw ur right about how easy kula is to pick up and Gato is even simpleir. My brother just know that once he gets a hit to to QCF + P till he sees stuff happen lol.

No no, Superjump is different from Hyperhop.

Hyperhop is the equivalent of short jumping with the shadows.

Kula and Gato are braindead easy because of how powerful Hyperhops are in general.

If they tone down Hyperhop’s priority in KOFXII and make it where certain things dont guardcrush SOOO easily…

Then the game will be better…

About the Guardcrushing take Cajuns excellent Maxima-Duck King-Gato (L) team…

All Maxima has to do really is start a rekka string…QS to Duck King and let Duck King do his string and

BOOOM…Guardcrush!!!

Tag in Gato after that finish with the LDM…boom=Death! Or in the middle of Maximas string tag in Gato to LDM…guardcrush!

Gatos LDM needs to lose the GC property thats for sure!

Im calling Cajuns team Team Guardcrush…

Youll see whenever Lu puts the vids up…

Alex is a master of that shit I tell you what! :china:

You gotta block…and if you block certain things you lose…its like a penalty for blocking…therefore rewarding more offense…

And NO defense.

So how did I counter it to muster my 2 wins??

I got my new KOFXI Triad/Cajun Killah team of Kyo, Kula, Gato…

I played fire with fire hitting him with Kulas " Corner Frame trap" to which he got hit by a lot and that took care of the job.

At EVO North Kulas frame trap was getting the job done believe me…

So you gotta play fire with fire…
-Get Guardcrushed
-Get Hit
-Roll and still get hit.

That’s the game I was playing with Kula then.

Triad/Cajun Killah Team is coming in KOFXI!!!

HYPE!!! Hype that shit! SNK killin people and comin back full force.

I use Maxima in 11 now too, hes mad fun. know any good strings or throw setups, my kof knowledge bank?

Cajun will you do the honors? I’ll let him handle Maxima too since he plays with him seriously in his team…

Wherever Alex is right now…probably working or something.

Also guys I aint one to cover up flaws in a game period…whether I like it or not. The more I play the game at a high level the more I see…

And that’s what I am stating…certain things need to be toned down…and this is how to make KOFXII a better game

**-Tone down Hyperhop for crying out loud! (Which if theres better sprites then thats inevitable! It wont be so fast because there will be more frames of animation!)

-Make it harder to Guardcrush overall.**

If they tone down Hyperhop then guess what…Gato and Kula will be toned down as well. Though they could tone the big three down also.

Like in Kizuna Encounter 2 if they make one they need to make it so that you dont gain red bar until the last 5% of your health…because fact is Kim Sue Il is TOO STRONG when he hits the second bar of health AND ITS ALL RED. (Infinite Supers that can link off a low or overhead and do practically a full bar of health by itself! Too good! Rosa gains her SAFE Super…thats right wait till you see the vids…I’d do the super once…you block, I’d do it again…HITS…yeah nasty I know )

And believe me I LOVE KIZUNA ENCOUNTER :lovin:…can play it all day…but that is a flaw in the game.

yo DG

a friend and I wanna play more SNK fighters and such

any suggestions to start off with?

we play mostly capcom games but wed like to branch out

i have a US ps3 and a DC

If you play 3s and Capcom fighters I’d suggest picking up Garou MOTW…you’ll love that game…its a very very solid game with few flaws in its engine even to this day. Very well balanced game!

You have a Dreamcast? Garou MOTW is on the Dreamcast!

Garou Mark of the Wolves would be a great start. I wish id played that game first as a kid.

Also because you have a DC pick up KOF 98…(which is called 1999 Dream Match on DC) KOF98 is a very well balanced game overall…its like Garou…very well balanced and yes it has some flaws but they are not soo obvious that you can abuse it to win at a high level.

Its a poke, wait type of game. Hyperhops are not strong really at all…I think they are perfect actually in KOF98…not too weak, not too strong.

KOFXI they are too strong, too fast.

I always thought, from a casual standpoint, that KOF 99 was a solid offering from SNK. Now I know that DG and any tournament veteran will disagree with me, but I’ve always felt that was the case.

But they are right. MOTW is a solid game with good presentation. If you are a fan of the SF EX series, I’d spring for KOF 06(KOF: MI2) as well.

I’ll say this, I get messed up more from Lucius’s hyperhop got offline in XI, then I do players of similar quality online (Where lag makes it harder) in 98. The big plus 98 is that the tiers are nowhere as strict as 98, where I pretty much got told last weekend that half the cast wasn’t worth playing. I can’t think of anyone in 98, minus some alternate versions of characters, that aren’t worth playing. Even Lucky has several good matchups, including Ralf and Goro- two high tiers)

98 can have a good offensive flow, or it can turn into a pokefest- depends on the matchup. There’s a reason 98 is called SNK’s Super Turbo.

Yes KOF 99 (as in 99 Evolution and other stuff like Evolution etc) IS a good game Sanji…thing you’ve gotta understand though is he said a good game to start with…meaning something he relates to his Capcom games…Garou MOTW is the first game that comes to mind…UOHs, Parries, fireball motion only supers…

Garou MOTW comes to mind first by far from 3s players since that is the most played Capcom game in the US.

But yeah KOFXI mainly is just Hyperhop all day…I cant think of another KOF consumed by Hyperhopping as much as KOFXI.

Once again this now comes from the more tournaments I play…

NGBC Tung-BIG EDIT- Joey…great news!!! :lovin: I got the answer for Bigs cr. a with Tung!!! :encore:

Well since you have an american Dreamcast, you should note that Garou is called Fatal Fury. And like someone else mentioned, KOF 98 on DC is KOF '99 Dream Match. I think thats a good start.

Also, you can get a DC boot disc for less than 10 bucks to play Japanese games and it would double your chances of finding the games and at a price that suits you. Japanese DC’s got all the way up to KOF 2002. 5 games while the US only got 2. So if you get into the series, and you get a boot disc, you can continue on after KOF Evolution.

Yeah, the hyperhop thing is the biggest reason OGs tend to dislike the newer KOFs.

Well if Lucky plans on using basketball zoning, he can easily get hit by Goro dp+A on reaction…they will trade in favor of Goro (especially if Goro is in maxmode). Goro’s pokes are superior to Lucky’s as well, so I can’t see what else he can do. I think pokes can hit Lucky out of his qcb+K too.
