Practicing KoF98, just wondering about Cover Attacks, is it true they have to do with character disposition? (The smilies?) I’ve read conflicting things about what the smilies indicate, if anything beyond just being there for fun.
Also are cover attacks actually used all that much, in all the matchvids I saw of high level play I’ve only see one cover attack used, but it seemed pretty useful the way it was used.
Yes thats the ONE THING people say is RANDOM about KOF98…it has everything to do with the smilies…and changing the character makeup in UM means different smily interactions!! Have you all thought about that? More characters like Geese, Krauser etc means more “randomness!”
What do you all think? Yes cover attacks wont work if they all hate each other…so smily faces play a key figure…now at a high level I dont think anyone is gonabitch UNLESSa cover attack wins the match…

NGBC tournies regularly draw 15-20 in NC.
Only games that draw more are Tekken, 3s, and GG.

Masher- NGBC went from a game no one liked to as Shiki says…drawing up to 20 in NGBC and is hot and growing …draws about 16 on average at EVO and is gaining interest believe me…this aint 2006 or 2005 even…NGBC is gaining more and more publicity and people are liking it!

In 2k2 isn’t it close D, BC, f+A, punches, command dash cancel, close D, punches etc.
Yes thats it start with St. C though,…but instead of the BC for Vanesa kep it simple and use the qcfx2 +E to get into her Leader (which is BC Activation) and then go into the boogie woogie punches…
Now you can combo it of St. C preferably…because St. D doesnt combo into anything in 2k2 nor KOFXI last time I checked.
So you can do something like St. CxxLDM, [St.Cxhcf+C tap p rapidlyxxqcf+b teleport] repeat brackets like 2 more times total then you can finish with her LDM finish or you can just finish it off however you like.
Averages around 38 hits or so.

Really? I thought st.D was cancelable, or at least it cancels into +A anyway. My satndard combo is s]t.D, f+A, LDM, st.D, f+a, booty booty attack (that’s what I hear ), teleport,] x2, then st.D, f+A, rapid punch DM, around 37 hits. I’ve also been messing with far C into lp dash upper, into 4 punch DM (teleport to get close enough if midscreen). If I have the meter I DC into Max mode and proceed into max combo (does around 80%).

You are using two players that don’t represent the NGBC community (or even the kofxi community) as a basis for how good japan is at the game, just like you did with Yusuke and Neowave. You vs. Yusuke in Neowave was NOT representative of US vs. Japan at all, and neither is you vs. Mago/RF.

It was ONE match, don’t get too excited…sure, you played well in that match (I think) but it doesn’t mean you would consistently play well if you had to fight the champ repeatedly.
In fact, it’s entirely possible that you were actually way below the champ’s level, and he was confused at your gameplay because it was illogical/unfamiliar to him. It’s not uncommon for high level players to play better against high level players than noobs. He could have been thinking “WTF is this guy doing!?” during that tournament match.
You do realize he was talking about Neowave in that post, right?

EDIT: Having scrub killer strategies is a part of high level play, btw. A high level player shouldn’t have a problem against a scrub at all if his scrub-slayer game is intact, and if it isn’t, then he’s not really that high-level.

Man…SNK terminology is weird. Like I know what a,b,c and d are. but like…after playing SF for years it’s really hard to compute at times
which is why i can’t read the number system for MB:AC and GGXX some times. like, I KNOW what the numbers translate into, it’s just hard for me to compute from time to time…especially when the combo is like 2 lines long.

I guess I’ll put up a few things that I know about Shen:
Don’t be stingy with meter. His specials are strong and easily comboable.
c.Ax2 into kick DM and st.Ax3 into either super (depends on character size and where you are on the screen) are good get the fuck off me combos when under pressure.
