I didn’t get to see all the matches between you and Mago, but all the ones I saw you got beat by only his Choi. You should find other Choi’s to fight against and see what you can learn to do against him. Or just study your vids and see what you screwed up on and what he took advantage of, other than the C cross up, cause that is godly.

By that logic, I should have never even come close to beating the Japanese SBO Arcana champion because I very little competition in NY for the game. Yet the guy that beat me, won the whole fucking tournament, beating everone else for free except for me (within 5% health.) So yeah…please forgive me if I don’t ride Japan’s nuts to the fullest like some of ou guys on here LOL. Yeah, they are good, and def are to be respected in the game, but that’s where it ends. If you think they are gods, youre never going to beat them. Period.
DG, I don’t have a camera here, but I think I’m going to use my gf’s camera to take some small clips/pics of the arcade I go to for SNK comp…you just gota see this place in Akiba, it’s too fucking unreal with the amount of comp and random fighting games they have here. arstal: Arcana is similar to Samurai in the graphics department, thats about it really. It has the same artist as SS5/Tenka I believe since it’s from the same company (Yuki/Ecole). Kamui looks similar to Yumeiji from SS series and she has a swort etc…but thats where it ends. Gameplay style is very different from SST. its very new school
i wish more people played AH at Arcade Infinity… it had a small scene when it first dropped… for like a week
i guess being one of the only games that cost 50 cents to play doesn’t help either

) if I want to play NGBC (semi) competativly? Like…beginners basics to like…advanced stuff. Cause I LOVED this game (along with XI) so I wanna get in DEEP, you know?
I used Iori/Mr.Big when I did play so I know the tiers some what. (Honestly, the only reason I picked Iori was cause he’s my favorite SNK character besides Freeman who is a close second and I heard from a lot of people Mr.Big was busted as fuck)
But like…I only played arcade and inbetween work/school/girlfriend(at the time.) I didn’t have time to really research or practice consecutivly.
So, if you can tell me anything or link me to a NGBC tutorial thread or something that’d be most helpful. Thanks.

I don’t see why. Some of those setups are horribly unpractical and will likely never happen in a match (especially that last one, skill stock renders Duo Lon LDM combos mostly useless).
Although the first one isn’t entirely out of the question. Ozwald is pretty fucking busted.

Yeah, those combos were impractical, but XI decided to go down that road.
I’ve made the decision now not to go down that road with them. I’m just going to avoid games where I think the engine is stupid. I have a bad feeling 98 UM will be the last fighting game I ever get into at the current rate.
As for Geese showing he’s stronger- it’s hard to show that you’re stronger- but he definitely showed at Evo he can hang with any Japanese EVO player, even the best ones. I don’t think there’s a huge difference between US and Japanese players- but I’ve seen on a regular basis people better then DG in NGBC, so if Geese can beat a top-rated Japanese player, they should be able to. It’s not easy to get guys from other countries to play, and the netplay between continents is too laggy to mean much in any game that requires reflexes- and physics may keep it that way forever.
That’s solely because London has the only real scene going. People around the UK do play but no one puts it all together like London. Absolution was the last major, it even had Japanese entries (inc. well named players) but there hasn’t been a big run tournament since.
France I think does the next best thing really.

My first ever outside area tourney was in Philly. That one I got lit up bad by several people. That’s when I realized I needed to work on things.
I’d also want to see a RB2 tourney, just to get someone out of Rochester NY down there.
Giby- You were watching Winners/ Grand Finals…I watched those too…yeah his Choi was too damn patient…that was the thing…I know how to change my style because I watched those matches certainly yesterday…I may have to pull out my Geese, Choi, Saisyu team against him next time…also I gotta be more patient. I dont have many other Chois to play *** even close to that level***…normally I dont have a problem vs. Choi’s Jump Crossover C but Mago was doing some great shit that was different in person though it may look like the same old shit to you guys on film…its one of those things you gotta play it to see it first. (Ambiguous crossups with Choi)
Matter of fact Mago’s Choi was really besides Yosukes maybe the first Choi to give me that MUCH of a problem. He knew the matchups supremely well…meaning he didnt give me much of a chance for DEADLY RAVE…I really had to work to get it…my thing is I couldnt jump and miss an Air CD because he would nail the cr.bx2 to cr.a to ranbu super with Choi. He’d also nail the 3 mid air flying charge attacks into rising tornado in the corner for HALF LIFE…didnt know even in NeoWave it did THAT MUCH DAMAGE…also I had a brainfart about what I could do to punish Chois MAX2 super…
So yeah put all that together and that meant I HAD TO TURTLE…Slides worked against him though…I entered EVO World with YG after watching/studying EVO North footage and Mexico using slides to start my matches more because of the vulnerabilites I noticed in match vids from what people would do when they began the round…even Mago had it…so I adapted that way from Evo North to Mexico to Vegas etc.
