Asura's Wrath: Japanese God of War

Chapter 11 as actual gameplay is completely possible. Start by having a combat system that allows you to counter/evade and quickly attack/move in. Throw in a grab ability too. I know DMC4 has shuffles or something that allows you to evade with minimal movement. Bayonetta gives you witch time with a well timed evade, Asura’s Wrath could give a crazy speed and damage increase. He fights straight hand to hand. Games have been doing destructible environments for a while now. They just haven’t done it on a large scale. You don’t need to have the entire Earth/Moon destructible, just the area the fight takes place in. DBZ games have you able to destroy the stage. It’s always the same result but I think you get my point. As for something like running on Wyzen’s arm? Shadow of the Colossus already did that. Several bosses you can actually run on their body and such. Asura jumping from platform to platform to get to Wyzen is possible as well. The player might need to a hint to know to do that but eh.

As for these specific finishers like Asura sending Wyzen into outer space and such? DMC4 Nero says Hi with his boss specific special moves. In Asura’s case, sending Wyzen into outer space and killing him through his finger could be a specific boss finisher. You could bind a style switch to one button allowing Asura to switch between hand to hand or his “shooter” mode. I highly doubt Asura’s Wrath cannot be done outside of QTEs/cutscenes. Asura’s Wrath wanted all this over-the-top things to happen and did it the easiest way: QTEs. I believe it can be done. Just maybe not from anyone that Capcom is publishing.

Also one thing I noticed Asura’s Wrath lacks with their over the top attacks: Impact. All the hard hitting Asura does and you don’t really feel it. Like you’re hitting air.

I was actually thinking to myself that this game would probably make a great anime. Get Madhouse on it and make it ohhhh…hmmm… around 20 episodes. That’d probably be enough to flesh out the characters and make sure that when the conflicts occur they have plenty of time to just go batshit with it.

Theres no argument here anymore. Just the people who will wait for the game to come out, and everyone else who wants/wanted the demo/game to be something its not going to be, and yet they are still here because…who knows.

This, pretty much. I’ll end up getting the game on sale after having too much to drink one night.

asura is a blatant ripoff of guts

More characters need to be a rip off of Guts.

I’m with the haters on this one. The art style and cutscenes are great but I’m not spending 60 bucks on a QTE game. I’ll probably just watch somebody play through it on Justintv or something.

Hey Grah, does every post in this thread have the same username or something? Because you keep posting like the same guy is giving a bunch of different opinions when a few are saying this and a different few are saying something else.

This game might grow on me but it looked like a beat 'em up then demo made me think Heavy Rain. Can’t say I’m interested in playing a game where cutscenes and gameplay seem to have switched roles right now.

Oh look…Gametrailers got an early 6 episode preview copy of Asura’s Wrath.

And whuddaya know…hmm…no quicktime cutscenes in regular enemies you say? Hmmm. Hack n slash action adventure game?

I say we keep talking about how the demo is full of QTEs and the games probably going to suck because the game will most likely be a big QTE. Ignoring this post of course. Since this post pretty much confirms what I said a million posts ago how the boss fights are the only times you use dramatic QTEs.

editbacktothethread: Nice preview video, only thing bothering me at the moment is the combat, which seems like it could easily get repetitive. And no I don’t consider specific moves depending on the cutscenes/qtes to be in depth combat.
