Assistance with my tv for ssf4

hello! ive been playing ssf4 for a while now but its on a sony bravia… not really a tv meant for ssf4…its extremely laggy compared to the asus and tube tvs… (great for movies though) anyways! i would just like to ask if anyone could help me find out or know the response time(ms) for my sony bravia if i play ssf4 as 480p instead of 1080p?

this might sound confusing… but any help would be appreciated

(yes i checked the manual and internet as well before coming here)

tv: Sony bravia
model: kdl 40z4100

thank you!

I wouldn’t know the response times, however the link below with your TVs specs say its Native Resolution is 1920 by 1080 (1080p). It doesn’t really list what other resolutions it can run natively, but I am assuming that, since its an HDTV, it won’t run 480p natively since most HDTVs don’t This means it will have to scale the image down to 480p, which does nothing but add to the processing time and therefore the display lag. The TV specs does say it has a Game Mode. Have you tried using that?

Basically, 1) Make sure Game Mode is enabled. 2) Set console to play at Native Resolution (1080p) 3) Use an HDMI cable.

Edit: Your TV might also run natively at 720p. Try that, too. The Xbox 360 (if you are playing with that) probably processes in 720p better than 1080p.

Actually, if you have the option to do so, you should not use HDMI as the main cause of input lag is HDMI post processing.

True. I forgot that there is always the option to use a VGA with audio ports. I’ve heard, though, that the component and composite cables give bad/mix results.
