Assistance! M.O.D.O.K Assist and Assist Support Thread

Would Dok/Doom/RR be better? RR is one of the few that doesn’t get much from missiles IIRC and I’d think Doom could get away with some Log Trap/Foot Dive shenanigans. Doom DHCs are easier too.

I was initially thinking that but brain pipes posts seem to hint that rr is better backed by missiles. Honestly I think it would help me out a bit because rr is a new character for me so I need as much assist support as I can get. I will experiment for sure!

Anything that gives decent blockstun on the ground gives RR a free unblockable. Missiles are sort of easy for people to chicken block, but they also force people back to the ground where RR can work his high/low game and occasionally get some unblockables if you catch them blocking any missiles on the ground.

How do people feel about Modok and Chris together? I was thinking about running Modok/Chris/Strider (or Sent)

Chris’s Combination Punch is really nice for extending combos for Dok, since it causes a hard knockdown. I’m sure Chris could use one of Dok’s assists well… I’m not too familiar with Chris to say how though lol. The Grenade Launcher DHC is fairly safe and the Sweep Combination DHC could be connected likely after an HBR loop rep in the corner. Both Dok and Chris work well with Sent, and I’m sure Chris benefits from Strider as well.

You guys know that Dok’s Psionic Blaster assists pushed characters on block and hit back further than other beam assists? You can cross up with haggar forward full screen sj.M if the opponent was in the middle not in super jumping away from blaster range. If it hits then it still combos I think. So unexpected. I never noticed that the beam push was so much.

Wow been messing with RR and even tho he’s tough to play omfg he has some stupid shit. Log trap is too ridiculous in the beginning of the round and its a 50/50 for sure.

However, I’ve just been informed that the tournament format is not a pokemon format but one where i’ll be matched agains’t 1 of the 5 from the other team, and if i win, then my team gets 1 point. so basically it will be most points out of 5 matchups.

That kinda sucks cuz i wanted to play more, but since its just 1 set of matches, Ill probably stick to cap/dok/doom. I’ve found some interesting zoning things with cap and modok so yeah. Its gonna be streamed but its at like 6pm guam time which is like 1 am in the states on saturday morning, so I’ll keep you guys informed!

Im trying out Modok/Jill/Sent, wish me luck. Modok with a invincible alpha counter backing him is godlike (Jill, Somersault). Jill combos and combos off of throws with balloon bomb into analyze cube THC’s is gonna be such a stupid 100%.

Yeah Jill is really dirty, I mainly use Hulk/Jill/Doom, but I wanted a second team to zone. I needed it in case there is a bad match up for Hulk with keep away he can’t handle well (Hawkeye, Morr/Doom). Modok/Jill help each other out so well that I really started enjoying this for a good second team especially being able to combo off of Jill’s throws adds more fear to her mix-ups leading to 100%'s of throws. I also like Modok because he can handle those keep away zoning characters much better (than Hulk) especially cause Modok is a zone monster.

At a friend of mine’s request, I gave Barrier a shot with this team, and I really liked it. I was previously using balloon bomb for attempts at Doom dash cancel mixups, but it seems like Barrier just works too well for him overall. I never really liked it with Rocket Raccoon or a lot of other characters, but it really helps make Doom’s wonky movement safe and it gives him license to kind of go nuts in the corner. I think I see why a lot of people that roll with Dok/Doom also use barrier over the others now.

ok ive been back and fourth on this game looking for a team for modok thought i had one but thats now a negative but ive finally got my self to pick up doom but i dont know who i can add to my line up??? Looking at dok/task/doom but not sure… but i want to be a zoning/rush down modok…

All you need to zone and rush down is Missiles. Picking your third should be based largely on personal preference at that point. But I suggest picking someone who gives an assist that works for both Dok and Doom, or at least one that helps modok extend combos or help to combo jamming bomb.

If you want to rush down more, then having some sort of forward beam that doesn’t knock people away from modok helps. Taskmaster works pretty nicely for this as his arrows stagger, and he dhc’s well with anyone. I’d recommend putting Taskmaster last though. Having Doom second gives you access to strong TAC combos between Dok and Doom. I also personally think Doom is a relatively weak anchor overall, and that Taskmaster can hold his own by himself better against a large portion of the cast. I do think that Taskmaster with missiles possibly stronger than Doom with arrows, but I just don’t like the thought of being left with just Doom should things go wrong.

yeah that was most def the big reason i didnt want to pick doom up but thanks for your help im going to play around with dok/doom/task or mag/dok/doom and see which one i like best

wow frank west shopping cart has really spoiled my modok. it does so much for pressure. Also, its nice knowing that you can either TAC into frank and then thc with 2 bars to get instant level 4, OR you can do the air HPB and DHC into frank for level 3 or 4. pretty sick squad. I have doom in the back for missiles but sure some other anchor would be better for this team. Awesome chemistry between frank/dok

Other chemistry to mention is once frank gets his airthrow super you can switch modok back in for the killer illumination dhc airthrow trick.

What up folks? Been browsing this forum for a while but have never posted. Been thinking on running a Dok/???/Ammy team. Was thinking maybe Frank for the second slot. Thoughts on this composition?

I think Dok/Frank/Ammy would work. Dok can decently level up Frank solo. It sounds like you are going to be running a more rushdown oriented Dok, since you are going to have lockdown assists. I think Frank’s assists are decent at extending combos, but extending combos with Cold Start doesn’t seem like it’s worth it. On the bright side, you can probably setup unblockables on incoming characters. I’m not sure what assist you would choose for Dok though.

I was thinking I’d probably just run Dok on beam so in case my order gets messed with his beam would do well enough at helping Frank or Ammy gain some ground.

I’m still getting Dok basics down for now but I think this team could be a lot of fun. Was also toying with Dok/Nova in a team.

two things to keep in mind about Dok’s beam assist. Most everyone can crouch it except the biggest guys in the game, which can sometimes make it unsafe to keep up pressure with and it knocks people far away, so it can be difficult for a lot of characters to hit confirm from.

That being said, it is also very fast (second to Mag’s I believe) and has good durability, so it is far from useless. Its height also makes people want to crouch it, which can help set up instant overheads. I have been using it less and less as my time with Dok goes on, and have been leaning more towards the bomb and barrier.
