Assault on Paris - Nov 13

#PrayForSyria is trending on Twitter, riddled with many sad pictures of dead or injured children. It’s quite sad, really. Too many innocent people caught in the middle of this. No one wins. ISIS attacks France, killing innocent people. France strikes back, with unfortunate collateral of innocents killed. France is damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Idiots on Fox News latched onto the PS4 as a “game changer” in the War on Terror because one of the suspects had one. We just can’t comprehend the complexity of this machine, or monitor communication on it at all. Dude.

Edit: Looking at some other sources, I guess there is a legitimate concern about gaming consoles and terrorist communications. But listening to the Fox knuckleheads, you’d think the PS4 is some crazy new modem technology that’s way too complex to fully understand. It’s like they’ve never heard of online gaming.

Oddly enough I logged into my xbox live account yesterday to cancel my auto renew subscription, I stumbled across a settings page which asked if I would allow MS to record my voice communications to * help improve their services*. It on allow by default lol.

I feel like thats because the nature of the community. We got friends all over the world, so of course this is very worry some to most of us.
Sadly, I guess same rules don’t apply for others. Even seeing twitch chat randomly joke about it, I’m like “really?”

In one hand, killing innocent people should obviously be avoided. On the other hand, you shouldn’t afford defending yourself, or even going to War for the right reasons, just because innocents might be hurt. Especially when a lot of Muslim governments and terrorists hide amongst innocents, using them as shields.

A lot of these governments were unstable, that is why they needed to use violence to justify their existence.

There is some real science behind this. Bernie oversimplified it but people who strawman and say “Icebergs cause terrorism” or something are being ignorant.

One surefire way of reducing civilian casualties would be to put “boots on the ground,” meaning actual people who can tell the difference between combatant and civilian. Modernized warfare has made soldiers in the battlefront a non-entity when they really should be more than ever. Bombing someone from 25,000 feet in the air doesn’t really help you separate who to kill and who to rescue.

Your sort of thinking is what’s allowing Western governments to bomb with impunity and that’s how shit like the bombing of hospitals and schools happen. It’s morally bankrupt and takes away the real cost and fear of war, meaning more people in the future (like chickenhawk Republicans) will opt to drop bombs from safe distances instead of contemplating whether or not conflict is worth the cost.

I read somewhere that in an urban setting, the US army has a 50% mortality rate. So they generally don’t put boots on the ground unless they’re almost certain they won’t demoralize themselves with a huge bodycount.

Boots on the Ground isn’t going to stop terrorist’s from strapping bombs to the mentally retarded, or using kids as meat shields, something that soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan were complaining about. Snipers have had to shoot children simply because they were being used by Al-Queda/ISIS scumbags.

I’m in no way saying it is the panacea to innocents being killed. I’m just saying it’s important to add a human element so civilian deaths are lower.

Bombing from the sky has made civilian deaths skyrocket and each Presidential administration since we’ve started using drone warfare has accepted those deaths as collateral damage. In what world does it make since to hit one target, kill 15 other innocents, and the math is alright?

Shit, we’ve even changed the name for innocents. We now call them “military age personnel.” Add that word “military” in there to add the implied threat. It’s scumbag tactics.

Are you fucking serious? I’ve never even heard that.

Honestly even “collateral damage” is a fucking low term to use for killing even one innocent human being. Dropped produce in the Amazon warehouse is collateral damage for fuck’s sake.

Um, has there been one single credible report that civilians have died in the france bombings in syria, outside of that twitter hashtag? A quick google showed nothing about civilian casualities so far.

Welcome to 12 years ago

France proudly stated there were zero civilian casualties right off the bat. Mind you, I called that shit before they even started bombing.

This is going to be hard to determine immediately after a strike. Reporters are gonna want to avoid the area so they don’t get destroyed and it’s already ISIS controlled so they might not want to go there in the first place.

We’ll have to wait for hospital reports for any word on it.

I saw them talking about this on MSNBC today while at work. It was hilariously cringe worthy. They had 2 anchors sitting in front of ps4s wearing headsets while showing off how you can text and chat through psn. Presenting it like it was some kind of secret feature that no one knew it could do. I was just like “Wow texting and chatting through an electronic device in the year 2015? NO FUCKIN WAAAAAY”

Aka cheap ratings and to keep the scare factor high at the expense of gamers.

I’m waiting for media to find a way to segue that into “ISIS uses popular shooters on PS4 to train members for combat. Violent video games to blame for Paris attack”

Sanders needs to lay of the fucking pipe on that terrorism global warming nonsense.

The link made by pentagon and a basic history says that it leads to inner conflict when you have several issues plauging low tier country.
