For me, that was the difficult part of the combo.
I did: [back, forward, back + a] then [forward + a]

olivia has three major tools:
her corner game has four major things to it:
olivia’s the closest thing to a ‘justin character’ in this game imo
She has an awesome Gatchi Drive combo mid screen too.
Jumping D, 236C (Only Bird hits), Jump B xx C, (at this point must be under 12 hits), 623C.
So, I understand most of Coyori’s basic links and rekkas. But I have no ideas as to how to utilizing her heat up? Got any tips? I did see her amazing air combo that heat up allows, but I don’t know how to incorporate into my gameplay seeing as I just started playing today.
I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while, but what’s up with the juggling system? Seems like you always get one “free” hit on someone after you hit them out of the air - for instance, standing A then DP with Marco or Urs. Is there a way for the victim to prevent this by parrying? Seems odd to have this in a game which doesn’t have air-recovery, even though it’s not that big of a deal in the long run.
I do actually have a question. Do characters juggle differently? (Like in 3s Dudley can hit 6 crouching roundhouses on Chun but not Ken, and Yun has to change up his GeneiJin combos on Alex, cause hes weird >.>)
Anything like that?
the big thing about coyoris heat up is that it lets you get a huge overhead threat:
overhead 6B -> j.C -> big combo
or mix it up with a low instead
5B -> 2B -> 5C -> 5D etc etc etc
the overhead 6B -> j.C only works on:
donvalve
deathbringer
coyori
watson
however, against everybody else you do 6B -> j.C (whiff) and link 5B afterwards. the link timing is a little tricky, but totally doable
you set up the heat up stuff any time you’re close. like they block a jump in, instant heat up 6B -> combotown
yes, you can parry those. some moves do put you in a free juggle state though, and in those cases the extra hit(s) are guaranteed
yes, this game has a lot of character-specific combos. a lot of stuff doesn’t work on urs and marco, some stuff doesn’t work on the girls, extra stuff works on freed, etc
for example some face stuff:
midscreen 623B 623D only works on freed; everybody else takes a second 623B (if you’re close it’ll work against deathbringer, if you’re point blank it works on urs)
in the corner if face hits his overhead rekka, he can link 623B, then 623D. the first 623B whiffs on all the girls, urs and watson. you can link a 5C afterwards on olivia/odile though
urs seems like he should be the standard guy to test combos on, but he’s not really because a ton of shit doesnt work on him. its better to test stuff against cedric because, well, hes cedric
Great thanks. Got to try making up some combos.
I wish more people played this game. I don’t actually have it to practice on, but Its really easy to pick up the basics with characters and then it just comes down to who has the better gameplay, well and some matchup stuff, but basically its all gameplay.
Any idea why this didn’t catch on in Japan buk?
Street Fighter IV.
Maybe your joking, but this game came out a while ago, before people even knew street fighter iv was in production if I remember correctly.
Yeah, I was fucking around.
Thnx man
Yeah… It was around. Heck, BF didn’t hit consoles in Japan till May this year. I don’t know it’s cabinet release date… >.>
The arcade release was hella before the console release. March 2007 was the arcade release according to gamefaqs, Street Fighter 4 info wasn’t till April or May I thought?
All the better that there really isn’t a Japanese scene. It means the North American scene is clearly the best.
BF died out in japan mainly due to the brokeness present in the arcade version; ashley infinite, meaty special grabs that are inescapable unless you have an invincible move or a 1 frame off-the-ground move (most of the cast has neither without super)
meaty special grabs essentially give ashley (already the 2nd best character in the game) a sort of grab infinite against certain chars. donvalve got a lot of ridiculous shit, and so did olivia
funny enough, cedric didnt benefit from any of that, and he was still the best character under those conditions
… most likely not
Too bad. I like the street fighter esque play mechanics.
Even though I was joking, it still begs the question: Why not?
Now that there is a console release, maybe the Japanese will reconsider. Unfortuneitly I don’t see that happening cause the cabinets is where its at over there, not the consoles so much. Maybe they’re consider a second arcade release? I think they’ve done that to other games in the past.
