vs. Akuma, Rocket can punish blocked Tatsumakis just like Corkscrew. start up is the same, so i go for more damage :wgrin:.

i’ve never played vs. a good Ibuki, so my opinion on that matter doesn’t count :lol:. i just go with whatever, really.

why do you guys use Cork vs. the twins? does Rocket give you some kind of disadvantage vs. them? also, Vic, why do you prefer Cork vs. Urien?

hey vic i have a couple questions on your list. why sa3 for urien, hugo? for kal el-i know corck and rocket have same startup, you just get more corks, and they damage him hella anyway.

while id say sa1 is fine for urien and hugo.
sa3 is not easy to punish.
hugo can be fought almost entirely on the ground, almost the same with urien. theres more chances for anti air strategy.
for example: any wiffed headbutt urien does can be countered by c.st xx sa3 before he lands.

for me

akuma…sa3…akuma takes shit damage so the cork hits him hard
chun…sa1… ur not gonna land alot of exmgp cuz she can duck it
ken… either… I perfer sa1… ken can easily punish a blocked cork
ryu… sa3… go under them redfireballs and super
oro… sa3… he can’t punish unless he redparries
ibuki…sa3… its hard for her to punish cork
Q… depends on his super choice
hugo… I use sa3
twins… sa3
urien… sa3 its hard for dudley to jump over his fireball so duck super
alex… sa3… works wonders vs grapplers and antiair for alex

Epsilon and Vic need to tag team this shit, cuz this is shaping up to be the best Dudley thread ever.

My question has to do with being cornered by a Necro player. Whenever I end up in the corner against him, he does that downward drilling move and that 2-hit arm swinging attack. I usually end up whiffing a move in an attempt to get out of corner, then end up getting nailed by a combo into super. What do I do?

zero thats a sticky situation, because if the necro player is good he is fierce in the corner. waiting it out is usually the best situation in the corner anyway, blocking low, teching throws, and looking for openings. parry the drill and you should be able to s.rh xx duck to create some space.

I find myself doing the same thing some times, is this b/c i’m character specific (dudley, akuma, yun, twelve only) or am i just lazy, like i whore out his target chains so much on wake up. I’ve had to change that, I also whore out his overhead on wake up. I’ve stopped machine gun blowing except in pun. sit. cause i got raped by liquited’s urien to many times. I have patterns with all those characters. But since i’ve been getting a better grasp on the game i’ve found i mix up better. i like his half circle back K move, forget what it’s called.

So what is the best way to mix up, I’ve started doing more poking, and on wake up i wiff moves b/f they get up to confuse b/c dudley can put them in so many situations. I love that about him.

what are the best situations to use his duck in as well?

also what are his best ways to get in and score a knockdown. generally. I want to see if what i’m doing is right!

some of the reasons you put for using Cork are kinda ehh. not easy to punish? c’mon, bro. 99.9% of the time you shouldn’t be doing a super outside of hit confirms. but i’m sure you knew that already, yeah? that 0.1% is the so-called scrubby wake up super which i tend to do when i panic :lol:.

you can use Ducking to get in, to go under jump ins, to punish laggy moves from a distance, or to go under projectiles.

you have to be very calculating with Ducking to get in though. especially vs. the Shotos and vs. Chun. they have them stupid c. whatevers that can potentially cause you lots of pain. mix up the strengths or mix up the normals you use to cancel into the move. i think epsilon_ already listed some earlier on in this thread.

c. short x short duck
c. strong/s. strong x forward duck
s. roundhouse x forward/roundhouse duck

good thing about the latter 2 sequences is that you can cancel into a super (if you have it handy) on reaction. you can also go into various throw setups or Short Swing Blow set ups. Short Swing Blow is aka the HCB + K move that you forgot the name of. also aka, SSB.

when you use the Ducking move to get in, sometimes you won’t reach your opponent at once. sometimes it’ll take more than one Duck. again, you can vary here. you can do a Duck then when you’re in good range, do an early j. roundhouse. whether it’s blocked or not, you’re within optimal beasting range. you can proceed to go into the ducking throw set ups or you can attempt to link into a super using various hit confirms:

c. short x 2 xx super
s. short, s. forward -> super
twds + forward -> super
twds + roundhouse -> super

When Dudley gets hit during his Ducking animation, does he have regular or crouching hit stun?

Question the 1st, what would you say is Duds most useful combo, I like to do j.hp, s.hk, hp JU, just because thats a stun monster combo and it does real good damage, I’m not to much into ex usage, I will occasionally do ex mgb combos but their so long winded and require bar, I mainly do them to get ppl into corners but whenever I see a punishment oppertunity I do s.hk, hp JU.

and oh yeah, I guess I’m having trouble with turtling kens too, c.mk all day, fuck that gets annoying.

and thats pretty much it I guess.

most useful with ex meter?

s.rh xx ex mgb, ender. you virtually always have ex mgb meter because it builds with like 2 whiff s.mps and jumpin, s.rh. i almost always punish with ex mgb combos, not just because of damage (which is AWESOME for ex meter), but because of positioning, dudley always wants his opponent in the corner.

haha im the scrubbiest of all scrubs… sa1 vs alex bounces alex away in certain situations so u lose damage… :pleased:

here some scrubby strats fo yo ass… not a combo but some stuff that can take some mad damage… like dart shot doesn’t push u far so when I have u scared ill dart shot a person then do another dart shot for 2 seperate hits then link to super it works with sa1 for sure thats my main super… after they get hit with the first one their like “oh shit” and think a super is coming so they wait, then bam another dart shot to the head… very evil scrub tactics hehe

for characters that can’t duck his F.LP… use it like ibuki do walking jabs, i alternate with f.lp and f.mp to put pressure… what I do is see if they stand… most of the time that means their trying to parry to get u off of em… when i see u stand I do a c.rh and juggle hehe :badboy:

what should a beginner dudley focus on the most? i’ve always wanted to pick up dudley, but i don’t know where to start.

i’m getting tired of only using ken and chun, i’d like to learn another character.

Yea I use to be a hardcore ken user till everyone starting whoring him so ken is boring to me now so i don’t use him anymore…

my main roster is dudley,hugo, and Q(yes Q hehe) I use ryu and akuma for fun…its fun doing kara demons :tup:
