OK seriously enough.
Put your money where your mouth is, and put up some TTT2 sales numbers.
We’ll wait.
OK seriously enough.

Put up where you got your info all I’m asking for is a source yet your trying to send this off in a different direction.
got the (apparently wrong) 400k off of VGcharts. Thats why I put so many caveats in my posts, they’re known to not be terribly accurate, but it’s still better than nothing, imo.
Ask Xes to post his source for T6 and TT1 sales numbers
Tells you to post your source that says his are wrong
you cant have both. You can’t have both a casual game and a competitive game. That whole idea is a copout. Its terrible game design that will just leave you with a terrible game like these new gen FGs excluding ttt2.
Sadly, I think ttt2 might be the last real legit FG for the hardcore. I think these newer fgs really dumb people down to the point that people just want to get sponsorship, recognition, and money overnight. If someone made a legit fighter like cvs2, mvc2, sfa3, or sc2, it will be overlooked. Its not about the game no more.We live in a generation where everybody gets a trophy for trying. Everybody got to be cater too.
Like Triforce said, the fighting games today are not made for who’s the most skill, its about winning. Period.
TTT2, the first and the last game of this new generation made for the hardcore.
I was asking for TTT1, T4, T5, T5DR, T6 sells numbers which you have failed to give time after time.
That’s not true at all. Tekken is a perfect example of a game that’s incredibly fun and enjoyable to play even if you’re just a casual button-masher. I play TTT2 with my ten year old cousins who don’t have a clue how to play it competitively and they have a blast. Same with Smash Bros. Both these games have competitive scenes despite the fact that they have mass casual appeal, so the notion that you can’t have both is quite frankly bullshit. Even the SF2 competitive scene showed up by accident because it was a casual game first.
no he had fun because he was mashing buttons, and seeing the his character in action throwing out normals…etc…You said said it yourself he was button mashing. If thats the case, what exactly are you trying to cater to? The reg normals and actions should do just fine.
but whatever its your game, I just want to see someone make a good game, and not be sucked into the cater to the casual because we have enough of those to be honest, excluding vf5, tekkentag2, and kof. But whatever.
You can get them all from the same place. It’s a fairly complete searchable database.
This whole convo is weird.
Still, numbers from VGchartz (noting normal complaints about the site)
T2 total: 5.74m
T3 total: 7.16m
TTT total: 4.05m
T4 total: 3.44m
T5 total: 3.87m
T6 total: 2.46m PS3 1.14m X360
TTT2 total: 0.29m PS3 0.12m X360.
Feel free to question the source if you want (noting namco’s figures for TTT2 are twice that sites), but don’t just decide out of your magical knowledge that I didn’t look up the numbers…
Can this be over now?
“Good game” is completely subjective. Also there does exist a thing called “intelligent button mashing” where you’re still pressing specific buttons to get out a specific attack without actually knowing the exact input. He’s still attacking with highs and lows and reacting to my offense accordingly. He isn’t just slapping the buttons and praying, he is still putting a little bit of thought into the gameplay. It’s just that there’s a limit to how seriously such players take the game as they will intelligently button mash but not learn the intricacies of competitive play. Smash Bros is another example, he knows all the attacks, their precise commands and can call any attack out at will but he still doesn’t know or want to know how to play it competitively. At low levels like this he is playing the game competitively because all his opponents have equal skill and do the same things he does, so in that way they make the game their own.
So, basically making a game to bridge the gap. I get it, if thats your thing go for it. But, that will require “derp derp” gameplay and mechanics, theres no other way, if you want a hardcore vs a casual to be on a level playing field. Gimmicks and modes are fine and a safer way to go.
Thing is, attracting hardcores will be tough without being a big company that made hardcore games in the beginning. You think capcom and others sold well because of dumbing down there games? Nope, they are a household name, they got it like that. As long as street fighter,sf/cross or marvel characters are in there FG it will sell. Period. If capcom for example want to make a game with no sound and unrendered models, and more casual friendly then there current new gen titles if thats even possible, it will make it into evo at least once. They got it like that. It doesnt mean that catering to casuals worked.
But hey, thats you and your game, just trying to help, because I think people are actually able to make good games, if they stop thinking about sells and/or following other companies, being original is like taboo all of a sudden.
You continue try to use those numbers from a site that always known to be wrong. A very professional site that has a z on it to show plural on a noun.
Also, your argument is horrible you are trying to compare sells to a game that just released recently to games that have been released for years.
No, it will be over when you get perma-banned from here like you were on countless other forums.
Comparing lifetime sales to < 2 month old sales?
Are you for real?
no surprise a phrase this nonsensical was from triforce.
Actually those werent his direct words on the on blast show, but the idea was there. A lot of people think this way. nonsensical huh? If you say so. How come the most casual friendly games are the most popular?
funny thing tho, your chance at winning is still 50/50. If you’re just tryin to make some generic “games are too easy” argument tho, bleh, boring. even lamer you’re takin ques from triforce who plays what exactly? tetris aint a fighting game
boom, exactly.
Nope, all I’m saying is everything is following the same template, and developers are not taking risk anymore.
If you mean SF4 and MVC3
I think that is because the most popular games also happen to the one with a lot of brand recognition and on top of that they were both two games with well established tournament communities all around the country. To make it even easier for them Both series had gone quite some time without a release before their two current titles. Then there is the fact that capcom went around telling journalists that these games were going to be sooo easy and fair for new players…
Any way maybe instead trying to make some game that is going to serve everybody equally maybe games should just one of these in mind and just let the rest sort it itself out. It worked for SF and Melee, and tons of non fighting games
True, True, I just mention that a while ago to dude.
Exactly. Hot damn, someone that gets it.
Oh, sorry
