Yours too? you mean the bottom border, which is like the internal support bottom layer?
I’m also having trouble emailing art…so if i get another return to sender, hopefully he’ll read this.

New Daimond Joints & Hitbox template??

Hey Guys!

So I’m aware of the issues with the diamond joint threads and I have prepared a new solution! I first tried a different tapping/threading method which improved them, but I wasn’t satisfied with the longevity so I went to work on Diamond Joints ver 2.

  1. Each Diamond joint is now comprised of four 1/8" plexi pieces and one 8-32 steel hex nut.
  • Top Piece, Bottom Piece, 2x L connectors
  1. The L connectors will snap flush into the rectangular openings
  1. Snap them on the bottom piece with the longer part of the “L” shape facing towards the center of the hex nut opening.
  1. Once L connectors are in place, the hex nut fits right in.
  1. The Hex nut is held in place by the L Connectors
  1. Snap on the top piece, which then securely holds the hex nut in place.
  1. All done!
  1. No more chance of stripping!

These new diamond joints have been shipping out with TEK cases starting about two weeks ago. This info just hasn’t been updated on my site or videos yet, so currently I’ve been building the joints since I didn’t have instructions on their assembly yet. I’m likely going to update my site with the above instructions, assuming they will suffice as instructions (what do you guys think, clear instructions?), and then the diamond joints will be shipped unassemble.

Additionally, these new joints will be available in various 1/8" colors, when I have a chance to set them up as individual items on my site.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I do take everything into consideration and will continue to improve my product line as needed!

And on that note, I do have a PCB plate & PCB Pieces version 2 coming up as well. They are screw-less versions. Basically taking the screws out of the assembly and allowing for parts to snap in place and securely. Other things are being considered and developed for the a Series 2 of the TEK cases =).

Now on to another matter, the HITBOX.**

I have had a lot of email interest on a HITBOX template for my TEK cases, as well as that being a preset option for the Custom Plexi Panel replacements. At first I figured it’s really not a problem and I can set that up in the following month. But upon researching a bit more on its inception, I realize that it’s something I’ll need to have a deeper thought on.

For one thing, the Hitbox’s template is rather unique and designed by Husser_Brian. It’s not a common template floating around like the vewlix, or capcom button configurations, whereas many other people are using for their case creations and sales. If I were to create the panel and offer it on my tek-cases I’m essentially ripping off Husser_Brian’s original idea and profiting from it. I’m not particularly comfortable with this idea as it’s just unethical. I know I wouldn’t want someone to replicate all my TEK-case parts and resell it, right?

As much as I would like to offer, and see, the Hitbox configuration on the TEK-cases… if there is no commercially free Hitbox template available, that may not happen. It’s possible I can chat with Husser_Brian and work something out, but unless he’s just cool with letting others use his idea freely, I may not have much time to work on a proposal at the moment… with many other things on my plate.

So I just wanted to bring this point up, for those who have asked about the hitbox template on my products. I think many of you will agree with me on my decision to hold off on the Hitbox template given this reason. But I’m also open to other suggestions, if you guys have something in mind that will not step on someone’s toes. It is a privilege to be part of this community and I don’t want to cross any lines.

On a side note, I have had people submit their own version of the Hitbox through my Custom Panel builder for the Panel Replacement plexi’s. Those are by the designs of the submitter and not by me, if you see them floating around.

I guess, based on that, one option is to implement the custom panel builder on the TEK-cases so that you guys can submit your own hitbox-like templates. But custom tek-case panels will be some time away. Dan_Martigan, who helped me design the custom panel builder, may not be readily available to create another panel builder anytime soon, and there’s a lot of other settings to make it work and unfortunately I have very limited time to jump on all of that.

Alright, this is getting long so I’ll leave it here. Thanks again everyone!

Oh, and again, if you’ve tried to reach me through email and have not gotten a response within 2-3 days, please feel free to send me a reminder.

Cheers all!
-Art

I was wanting you to custom those for me.
Now seems everyone will get it.
Laugh.

Good job with the new diamond joints. Now people wont have to do the whole “pressing the nuts in” and holding them in with glue like what Spenzalii did for IS.

Are you going to put the new diamond joints up for sale on the site so I can order a set to replace mine?

I don’t think I will be up to the task of modding a 360 controller to work with this. Is there any place that sells the guts of a 360 arcade stick? I saw that the Mad Catz SE stick is pretty much plug and play with sanwa buttons, but can I somehow buy just the wires and the board and then hook it up to one of these cases from Art’s Hobbies? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ordered some more plexi and art, can’t wait to make a blast city themed stick!

Perfect companion for tek-case:

I see the marvel vault

Brilliant solution for the diamond joints Art.

Lefty Here

I apologize if this has been asked before, Art. But, I don’t have the opportunity to look through 29 pages of posts at this moment. Anyway, my question is this…I see that the top piece is cut for a number of configurations. However, they all have the “standard” layout with the stick hole on the left. I was wondering if it was possible to get that reversed. I like the “Sega Player 1” option on your site, but if I simply “reverse” the top piece (putting the stick on the right), the buttons then are in a concave pattern.

Sorry for the rant. Thanks.

Loki

Get the regular Sega Player 1 config for right-handed players and simply flip the top panels upside down. Then wire your joystick/buttons accordingly.

In case you were concerned about demand, I for one, would really like to have a version of the case that can accommodate larger sticks. Someday, my dream of having a controller with Happ joystick and Sanwa buttons can be realized!

Thanks. It hadn’t occurred to me to both flip AND rotate it. LOL

So here’s my case! got it yesterday and put it together yesterday! A++ case love it… planning to get some art work later, so expect me to buy something else art! Thanks man!

what about korean part´s

i wanted a plexi stick, it ist posible with korean part´s , myoungshin stick and buttons or just the myoungshin?

Anyone in here purchased one of those Plexi hrap panel replacements?

Looking to change the layout on my HRAP1 to HRAP3+few mods. This seems like a good option rather than trying to find a steel hrap3 plate from someone.

Main question is how durable is the plexi panel? I take good care of my sticks as it is, but it would be nice to know if it can take a hit and be fine.

hey true i am not sure if you mean you just dont know where to start looking for someone who makes steel panels but have you checked out
http://shoryuken.com/f177/project-llc-steel-panel-replacements-te-hrap-diy-round-3-custom-list-starting-264080/
I got my te replacements from him and they are perfect. I believe he is doing hrap replacement panels as well now so if you want steel you might want to contact him

Yea I was wondering about this as well. I remember reading about Art talking with someone last year in this thread about having a problem fitting the existing Mad Catz PCB in an Xbox360 SE into the side panel. Then I think It was asked to fit it into the top panel with a cutout for the module, but I don’t know if it was answered or not. Help us Art! I really want to order your case to replace my SE one.

Thanks, i sent that guy an e-mail. His thread is pretty large though so i have no idea how backed up he may or may not be at the moment.
