Art's Hobbies - DIY Acrylic Cases

Hi Art, I was wondering if you have photos of different color that is being offered… I can’t seem to find them on your site. It’d be nice if I can see these color before purchasing

I’m curious about the same thing, wanted to get etching for all the sides of the case, but the artwork+plexi cover options would cover up all the etchings…another question is it possible to use the weighted slots for the sides and side buttons buttons too?, I would think not, but there might a some sort of configuration possible

Welcome to Art’s Hobbies

the above link will take you straight to the color options page, it works I checked

It’s already been mentioned that weight compartments and side buttons are not compatible. There’s no way I can think of to make work, anyway.

THANKS! Shin:rofl:

06:52; So what if you want to use a Plexi JLF Mount instead of a metal one?
06:56; Here we’ll use a Pearl Plexi Mount as an example.
07:00; Now please note, that JLF Plexi Mounts are sold separately and do not come with the Case.
07:06; But should you be interested in one, each JLF Plexi Mount comes with four sets of M3 Screws and four 1/16" Spacers.
07:19; First you will need to remove the JLF Plate.
07:23; Now if you don’t have one in the first place, obviously you can skip this Step.
07:31; Then install the JLF Plexi Mount using the M3 Screws provided.

arthong, if someone buys a JLF without Mounting Plate, then there are no M3 Nuts in the JLF Base.
So for someone who has JLF without Mounting Plate, and wants to use your Acrylic Mounting Plate, M3 Nuts are required.

Your supplied M3 Screws will not have anything to thread onto if there are no Nuts in the JLF Base.
And then people will get weird, saying that the screws do not work.
And will ask where to buy correct screws.
Happens a lot in Tech Talk.
Laugh.

Well I placed my order now to wait and see how slammed Art gets with orders.

Time to place my order then.

And time for me to start ordering parts

And time for MCM electronics to mail me my wire and hex inverters ordered two weeks ago.

Just a comment: after doing the case builder, there seems to be a little glitch where my choice for top border is listed as the bottom border, and my bottom border is listed as the top border.

As far as I can tell, there’s no difference between the two for type A, so it’s ultimately a non-issue, but that’s a small bug I’ve noticed.

@arthong

Can I order a custom button layout w/ the new case? if not, when can I expect to have that option…

P.S I don’t understand the Front Panel w/ the Left / Right Config being so far apart. Isn’t that for the Start & Select button?

arthong

What if I want the one linked below. Can I just buy it just like that, the art and everything. Love the way it came out.

And I don’t mean the buttons and all, just the cut, the art print, the ascetics

Thanks for pointing that out. Yeah… it doesn’t seem as though it would change much since both borders seem to be the same parts, but I think I’ll reverse the order in the build page just to make sure.

Just ordered mine…came to about-ish $80 with the bearing holders, plexi JLF plate, Bottom Temp Plexi and any extra screws I could get.
I will post pics when I get it…

I almost want to definitively say that etching will be available. After all, it’s a 1/16" plexi, which is the same as TE cover thickness. We’d have to see what art does, but it wouldn’t be like him to not offer etching on these. He better, actually. I have artwork all ready for etching to go atop it.

just ordered mine. decided against etching for now. i can always get on later. soon i will be sporting a wii/DC dual mod.

Whew, thanks for the feedback guys. Lots of work to be done so I’ll try to jump on here and see what I can answer from time to time. If you don’t hear from me it’s only because I’m gonna be busy =).

So I took out the turbo area from my 360 SE and I see one problem… the pcb extends past the turbo area quite a bit making that whole piece about 2 1/4" in width which is longer than the side panel’s width. If you are using a 360 SE (and I believe you mentioned it was an SE you’re going to use?) then I’m afraid this actually won’t work. If you’re using a PS3 SE then we’ll have to see how big that entire piece is. That is the only problem I see right now, unfortunately. I didn’t know that whole piece would be that big.

There’s really only enough room for 2 pcb holders on the PCB plate with all the PCB’s you mentioned. One of the other pcbs will have to be creatively situated. But we’ll come to that after we figure out your SE turbo area issue.

You’re right, there should be etching options there. It’s just this whole different setup uses different coding so I haven’t updated the etching options for those pieces yet. It’s on my to-do list. Sorry for the wait!

There will be etching options for the 1/16" plexi covers in a little bit. As for the weight slots, they will replace your side panels completely and will not have button options because when you place weight items into the slots, there won’t be any room for buttons.

Well this is interesting. The last 2 JLF’s I got from LL did not come with mounts yet they had the hex nuts already in position. I thought that was normal. Just in case I’ll make some notes for people to take into consideration. Thanks!

I appreciate your feedback on this. Apparently I’ve gotten a small case of dyslexia from the long hours of coding, lol. I’ve recently fixed this and you’re correct that the 1A cases both bottom and top are interchangeable so you will not be affected by this.

Custom button layouts will be TBD. Right now I need to concentrate on churning these out asap so I’ll have to set with pre-set configs for now.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by the front panel’s left/right config’s being “far apart”. If you’re wondering why they are far apart from each other, it’s because the center are is reserved for the name plate and no buttons can be placed within that area.

There is a left and right setup for whatever the modder may find a need for, whether it be Start/Select buttons, neutrik adapters, or just to have extra buttons there.

You would have to still select your case and the configurations, then add the artwork and plexi covers to the cart. As for the image… I’m not 100% sure if I still have that carbon fiber image, but put that info in your cart notes and I should be able to hunt it down. Considering that’s just a pattern and doesn’t have any copyright issues I should be able to set this up for you.

Yep, etching options will be added =).

I had to purchase a clear JLF mount and dust washer to complete the ensemble.
TEK-CASE S1-A, Vewlix - 8 Buttons, front panel 24mm Neutrik | No Cut | 24mm 24mm

Chad probably adds the Nut himself.
I buy my JLF from AkihabaraShop.jp, and none of them ever had Nuts.

Oh, this is not something for now, but just a question about future options: have you considered something similar to the weight slots for cable storage?
