Wait what? So you can’t tell us what it is until next year?
because it’s not published yet. a manet scholar from pennstate just recently died… and two of his students, one of whom is my art history adviser, told me about it. the two of them are completing this book, and nobody can know until it comes out. she trusts us, and i’m not going to be the one putting it up on the web.
Oh yeah, definately. I thought it was something you had figured out yourself and didn’t want to tell anybody. =p
Wow great thread.

there’s a lot to be said about kandinsky’s later style, as seen in the second painting. They all include a lot of blue, which according to him, represents the spirituality of paintings. there is a mound of blue in each one, representing the spirtiual mountiain that one must conquer to gain spiritual freedom. There is a horse and ride representing the saint that will take you over, from the right side, which is earth, the the left side which is heaven. his paintings become more abstract as time progresses.
there’s a more famous one called little pleasures… the rider is at the very top, and you can see the people walking towards the left.
I guess I’ll start a little trend. Post something old, something new and something wierd.

As much as a stupid cunt that David Hockney is, I still like his art. Especially this one, what really got to me is the detail on the shag carpeting and the lighting. Just a right amount of shadows without making it too dark.

Jordan Bent is a young local artist I saw during one of our indie art fests this year. While his stuff looks sort of ho hum, it was pretty amazing to see it IRL. His newer stuff looks better but I’m afraid I might be giving him too much credit because there was a LOT of bad art during the festival.
