Arizona! SFXT is here. Upcoming events. Check first posts

Man, Haz’s house this Saturday is going to be filled to the brim. Glad to get all the communities under one roof though, should be super interesting to see AZ competitive play of games I’ve only ever caught a fleeting glimpse of on streams. I remember being extra entertained during the BB tournament, and the idea of seeing KoF and SC in that same light should be a blast. I hope the KoF and SC folks stick around after their games are over and check out a little of what the Capcom side is about, too.

I would allocate some extra time for SFxT too, I bet that game is most likely to run late and push Marvel back.

One possible solution could be letting Keith award Hazbat points at his tourney.

Also, Bryan, how big of a turnout do you expect from the SC community? I’ve got no clue how many people there are in the AZ scene for that game.

I’ll try and make it to le hazbat, but as you know I have 2 kids, and weekends are my time with them, especially saturday during the day. and I definately cant make the SC5 or KOF times, which are the 2 games I want to play, those are way too early for me, now saturday evening is fine, im open past 5pm, but not sure I would be able to get a ride that late.

I’ll definately see what i can do though.

yeah the time thing is something we would need to work on. Maybe we can alternate times for each tournament. So if you cant make one week, you can make the other week

Right now it’s looking like the turnout for SC won’t be very high. I know at least 7 players that either can’t make it at the current time or would be late by 30 minutes or more (munchi has offered to delay matches to help). Only 3 people that I know have confirmed, with a few others expressing interest but needing rides. Assuming everyone who is available can get a ride, I still wouldn’t expect more than 10 people for SC5 at the current time.

As I’ve stated before, there’s a good deal of animosity between the 3D crowd and the SRK crowd, as well as people who just don’t like Haz or don’t want to attend ranbats at his place. What happened after Haz tried to include MK didn’t make things any better either, especially since most of the MK players also play SC5. These are two of the reasons I have no desire to attend (although I’m still helping to organize carpools for those who want to go).

Hm. Well, hopefully those 10 people enjoy going over to play. Still got a good couple of days for people to coordinate so it might turn out better than expected.

I’ll bite on this animosity thing. I took a trip over to the 8wayrun forums (Thanks for the shoutout, Munchi!) and the majority of the players who responded to Aaron reaching out to them were responding the same way we do here (“Yeah, should be fun” or “Can’t go due to schedule”) and none of them seemed really embittered by it. I don’t recall how the MK tourneys awhile back were handled either so I can’t comment on the effects of that, but if you look at the reasons for why we’re trying to include these games into the lineup for Saturday it makes little sense to propagate negativity.

You got all upset because Armando and a couple other folks requested a change in time that would inconvenience the SC folks, but then if you look at one of the posts in the 8wayrun thread it asks to move the SCV tournament to Sunday instead. People aren’t suggesting that to shit on other scenes or people, they just want to see if they can make it the most convenient for them.

Maybe there is a conspiracy in the AZ SRK crowd to do as much harm to the other scenes as possible and fuck them over. Maybe we all secretly hate you guys and it’s completely fair to lump the entire Capcom playing crowd into that.

If that’s the case though, by trying to extend a hand and get the scenes collaborating under one roof (Which often results in cross pollination of scenes, a good thing for everyone), we’re doing a pretty shitty job at hating on you guys. I think it’d be a blast, we’ve got some folks on 8wayrun who think it would be a blast, Munchi’s working hard to get things rolling. Hell, I’m thinking about entering SC and KoF without having touched the games (Well, SC at least. I can do accidental supers in KoF pretty well.). We’re not trying to end race wars or unite the Middle East here, we’re playing fucking video games.

This. A lot of us don’t even know any of the 3D crowd to have animosity towards in the first place and I would assume vice versa. All I see is a few people trying to include more games at Haz’s and Haz agreeing to let them give it a shot. These dates were set kind of along time ago, so adding tournaments and them conflicting with others just seems like bad luck brought about from good intentions.

People need to not take schedule conflicts like some sort of personal slight. If no one shows up, oh well, if they do, great. Leave it at that.

So much hate in our scene lately. Man arcades would be awesome right now hahahahaha.

It’s always the same dickriders who come to the rescue, it’s not news that ppl Do not like going to Haz’s place or don’t even like him. You guys are fucking blind to the fact of how many people have actually been burned by him and it’s got around to to the community. The SRK crowd is little hard on newcomers. Fuck before the soft ass 09rs came around and I wanted to play 2ds, the players were hella bitches to me. Think about it, how many newcomers have actually stuck around for Marvel or any new game after that?

How its gonna play out is yea you’ll get that big turn the 1st time out but then it will be dead again with the same scrubs. No new blood even with these new games!

Does this seem familiar old skool srk? Did devastation not start this exact same way? Fun to business and everyone gets hurt in the end until another person comes for “the community”? This will turn out the same! U new peeps will see.

Here is a simple solution if you have a problem with me or Haz, DON’T SHOW UP. It really is that simple, if no one shows up well then we can’t run tournaments can we? Problem solved. Trust me that works a lot better then acting like little kids on here.

Times are set and wont change for the first ranbat, after the first ranbat tournament we will have a better understanding of how many people show, how long its taking and can adjust from there.

Muji I like your idea about SC5 for the 19th but I would need to speak to Haz and Euphoria to see if that will work.

Aww the old srk threads, where it was Thetemplearcade rather than Devastation. Where There were no limits and cigarbob was able to talk shit to anyone and NO ONE DID SHIT ABOUT IT NO MATTER WHO COMPLAINED, unlike now where the soft bitches complain and Msgs get thrown out to ppl to be a little soft now.

Hey where’s my fucking Juicebox reference?

Admittedly, I know a few people who’d love to go but don’t because they think it’s weird it’s being held at someone’s house rather than a real venue. Anyways, hope to go saturday, might even bring a laptop with Melty Blood Current Code for the poverty gamer in some of you.

Thanks alot man and like I promised will take good care of it

Bryan you are being delusional. I don’t know why you insist there’s animosity with srk and the rest of the fgc scene. Just cuz you have problems with us and vice versa, doesn’t mean we have a problem with the scenes you support. If we did, then why are we even attempting to expand the ranbats? Stop trying to act like there’s a conspiracy going on. We all have our own personal grudges towards eachother as individuals, unfortunately. You always think its srk vs everybody, which is insane. When it was more about vs you. You do not = scene. Some of us had problems with you, individually, that doesn’t mean there is animosity to other scenes, cuz thats how you make it look on my end. I don’t really see where else the “animosity” could be.

Whoever doesn’t like Rick hasn’t met him.he is awesome!

Hello world!

Obligatory biyearly post:

  1. Rick is dope as all get out. I’m glad to know him.

  2. @Git_thrown: If you are the only member of the getthrown.com streetcrew, would you be interested in selling www.getthrown.com to me?

  3. Since a member of my crew is banned, I will also not be attending the first 3 ranbats.

I’d like to point out that Muji asked me a question, so I responded to his question. The responses that have followed from that are a pretty good example of why the issue came up in the first place.

Most of the people who don’t like the AZ SRK scene do not post their discontent. People have conversations with me all the time that usually start with, “WTF is up with those guys on SRK?”. I’m the only publicly vocal one (for the most part) because they all see what you do to me when I post and they don’t see any reason to post and have the same ignorance happen to them. I just dgaf, so I’ll post whatever I want to say.

I will say that it’s not the entire AZ SRK scene that is disliked. I’ve never had any problems with Muji and a good number of others. I didn’t even have a problem with Rickdawg until somewhat recently. It’s just a few select vocal members, but it’s enough to make some people not want to come.

As for Armando’s post on the event page, his reasoning behind the post may have been sound, but he acted like his normal self with the wording (kind of similar to my general attitude). Acting like SC wasn’t important and KoF should get priority. Was it necessary to say, “Please for the love of God…” as if it made no sense to have KoF before SC? If he had said something more like, “Is there any chance SC and KoF can be swapped” then I wouldn’t point it out as an example of the issue at hand… and it’s just one of many examples.

If SC5 is moved to Sunday it will get a few more people, but it will lose some in the process. I don’t think you’ll see much gained from that move. There’s been plenty of hate for SC, MK and almost anything that isn’t Capcom in this thread (or our legacy threads). That just doesn’t go away overnight. Suddenly making a last minute addition to the ranbats, without even consulting the community for the best time, isn’t going to suddenly make everything okay.

Perhaps if some of you were a little more welcoming, things like this wouldn’t be an issue. Unfortunately, I don’t ever see that happening.

Let’s just all agree that we don’t like each other lol. Also about rick being awesome. One of the funniest things I have ever seen is when rick beat armando at the sfxt release party and then he told him to stay free. I gained a lot of respect for him that day lmao.

When hasn’t the scene been welcoming? Oh because of some fussy arguments on a forum site? When has there been any time where we make new players unwelcome in person? Never, I never see it. We try to introduce ourselves, people pm myself and others for info, we give it to them. I just don’t get where all these people “that don’t want to speak out” get this idea, other than stupid forum banter. Other than a select few people that talk trash in person, everyone is really engaging. It’s always been like that, even more so than pre sf4 days.

Why would anyone want to push people away when it benefits no one?

Bryan, my only beef I truly have with you, is you have this twisted false idea about what most of us think. You always jump in with “typical srk hatred” or sometype of shit, which usually riles me up cuz I don’t honestly know where you get these ideas. You make it sound like we are some type of illuminati. I just don’t get it.

We have our drastic difference in opinions. But that, as well as silly forum banter, shouldn’t translate to fuck this scene or that, which is what it seems like it does.

And if those people “that have personal problems about us but don’t say shit” don’t speak out on their own, how do we know how to fix that problem? Have they really tried going to events with us present? I’m inclined to think they base their opinions off hearsay or random forum shit, which you know as well as I, is an entirely different beast than IRL
