Arizona! SFXT is here. Upcoming events. Check first posts

The SC community was going to go, but then they removed SC without letting the community know… so, yeah.

I don’t remember them ever saying sc5 was guaranteed anywhere. I know it was requested. Maybe I’m wrong

There was quite a discussion about it. Jeremy requested it to be included and Abe/Ed (not sure who was posting under AIAB) said they’d do it. Some drama followed thanks to some ignorant comments made by Abe/Ed, but the tournament was still on.

I asked a few days ago in the SC thread to figure out who was going and possibly get travel arrangements made for the Phoenix side, and ChinNuts said the SC tournament was called off at some point. I haven’t heard from Jeremy so I don’t know if he even knows the tournament isn’t happening anymore. But the point is, they didn’t bother informing the SC community about it.

ill be down for some cvs2 lol

Old games? Alpha 3? Yes? Alpha 3

Or as Scott calls it, Street Fighter Jumping Short x4654165178

hey, i only did it in tourney, and even then, id ease up and stop the combo once i got my meter back =)

even with that bs, a3 is still the fucking shit!

I am totally game for organizing a CVS2 session, only problem would be, who still has dreamcast and or ps2 sticks. i would like to organize a day where we all meet up at castles and coasters again. they still got 3rd strike on the bottom row, as well as MVC2 and CVS2, zaine and i were there last week playing some CVS2 and it worked fine.

Would anybody be up for an old school arcade session? we can pick a day and meet there and get down on alot of games, i miss the arcade ;;

besides, its time for scooter and I to duke it out in some KI…love me some KI.

Well, it looks like I’ll be able to make the first ranbat. I probably won’t be able to make any other tournaments or sessions before or after that because of my work schedule, so I figure I’ll finally get out and play some games on the one day that I can.

Its clearly posted on the Facebook page for the event on March 28th that it was decided not to run SCV. Please get your facts straight before saying stupid things.

If I’m not mistaken if you have a backwards compatible PS3(like mine) you can play PS2 games using a PS3 stick.

unfortunately not. when i first bought my ps3 (launch 60gb backwards compatible) I drove out to the apache junction gamestop to buy CVS2 for ps2, as they were the only one that had it, to find out, you need a ps2 stick to play ps2 games. there may be an adapter that makes it work, but to me adapter = lag so i was pretty disappointed.

You do not need a PS2 stick to play PS2 games on an original PS3 with the Emotion Engine; sticks with MC Cthulhu boards will work; that’s usually what we ran with on our ghetto setup for CVS2/RBFF2/GuiltyGear^Core at Haz’s every so often for shits and giggles.

edit Pretty much any stick that doesn’t run a USB 1.0 board (OLD MadCatz TE sticks have USB 1.0) will work; I just remembered that my Qanba works fine.

I just decided that playing new games isn’t really fun for me. I want to be competitive, and I am at modern games… but Guilty Gear is where I have the most fun. I’ll try to finalize a hosting night / time in the next few days for you guys!

well thats good to know. the stick i tried was way before TE’s or the cthulu board came out, like I said was at the launch of ps3, it was one of those small green/gray sticks people were using for virtual fighter 5. I took CVS2 back and got a refund and havent tried since, that makes me very happy as I thought it was BS myself. If newer sticks work for ps2 games, i may try and hunt down a copy of CVS2 for ps2 again for sure.

However, I would still like to try and organize a day where we can meet up at the arcade and play, theres just no substitute for the arcade atmosphere

*edit~if anybody has a copy of CVS2 for ps2 they would like to sell, let me know. (looking your way reece!)

I feel you man. It’s all about fun for me. Guilty gear is one of the most satisfying games I’ve ever played, and with so many unique and quirky characters, there’s always someone new to either pick up or improve on. It’s great.

ps3 backwards compatibility(both hardware and software versions), lag like crazy even if you use a crt. I wouldnt bother with that

Damn scooter, your the destroyer of dreams, but good looking out.

My first stick was a Hori Fight Stick 3, and that worked for Alpha Anthology and Capcom Fighting Jam. I’ve also run CvS2 on a Dreamcast emulator and plugged my TE into it, that seemed to work too. I don’t know anything about lag on them due to my lack of experience with the games though.

Ooooh. Popcorn time.

I have only heard bad things about the Dc emulators on PC, i’ve never tried them. I last heard that they were laggy and glitchy, but i say this with no personal experience.

I have a DC with a copy of the 6 in 1, i just dont have a DC stick anymore, and i think carlos and daniel and maybe joey are the only people I know that have them, and they dont part with those.

TBH, ps2 CVS2 wasnt a good version anyways, needs to be either arcade or DC or gtfo, but its better than no CVS2.
