Are you a fan of 3SO's OST?

i hoped they put this one

I’m honestly taken aback by the seemingly huge backlash the new OST has received. Then again, the remixes are largely a very different direction with tunes that players have grown to love for over a decade, and I suppose I haven’t been ingrained in that generation enough to feel as strongly as others about these new releases. For the most part I enjoy the mixes a fair bunch, some more so than the originals even (eg. Chun-Li, Hugo, Q, Remy and Urien), even if there is a bit of hit and miss for me. I agree Simon Viklund has done better collective works before, but watevs.

Chun’s remix is boss but overall too many tracks sound exactly the same; which is terrible considering how much diversity was in the original.

Where’s the “remixes were awful” option?

I like the original, I like the arranged, I like other remixes I’ve heard, but these are terrible.

where is the option “i dislike both OST”

It’s not that people were “used to the originals” it’s just that in most people’s opinions, the new ones are generic untss untss bad remixes.

And they don’t have the 3rd Strike flavor, like a lot of youtube remixes have.

Well, I thought some of the melodies for 3S were ok, but on the whole it’s a bit samey, and not up to SF2, SFA or SFEX. Having said that:

  • Alex/Ken - loved the original. This version is badly murdered.
  • Elena - didn’t like the original. This version is better.
  • Oro/Sean - reasonable
  • Urien - wasn’t expecting that. An interesting take on the sound, but average after a few listens
  • Yang/Yun - the change of style was too extreme for me
  • Remy - terrible. You’re better with generic 90s Europop
  • Akuma - liked the original but thought it was repetitive. New one is a bit hard to listen to because of the effects
  • Ryu - captured the same flavour, but average in every way
  • Chun - A bit samey again. Didn’t inspire me. Unlike her SF2 piece, nobody in a bar would recognise it
  • Hugo - slightly character-less, but does seem to fig Hugo’s appearance just about. New version is good but in a different way.
  • Q -The original didn’t really do anything. This one does no more except add a piano
  • Makoto - Don’t like either of them
  • Ibuki - I still haven’t decided if this belongs in a fighting game
  • Necro/Twelve - pretty boring if you ask me
  • Dudley - The new one just seems to rely on the hook

My 2p.

I’d say the opposite on both counts - these are dramatically different, and original 3S didn’t have the diversity of other SF games. With SF2 you really felt you were in India/Brazil/Russia or whatever.

Hugo’s new theme is not bad. I like both versions.

All but Urien’s, Necro’s and maybe Hugo’s is complete garbage IMO. They fucked up Jazzy NYC and Beats in my Head. >:( Not cool yo.

Ibuki’s theme is close to her arcade theme.
What’s wrong with Sean/Oro’s new theme?

Who in sweet fuck would say yes? If so, they need to stop breathing.

The 3S OST is fucking classic. Instantly likeable, gets you pumped, and incredibly memorable. You could play Elena’s theme at a rave and it’ll be a hit.

Actually 3s’s music is pretty forgettable, it’s way too “normal” music and not the video gamey music than in the previous games, I’m mostly talking about melody and stuff. 3s music: add a beat and a melody consisting of three notes, change pitch of rhythm every two seconds, loop it.

No .

And Arranged Dreamcast version are the best .

NO
These remix are an insult for the classic OST.

some of them are sick,

but the alex and q themes

I just liked the Dudley, Ibuki and Elena remixes.

Other than that, eh.
