Could jwong win Evo with venom/sent/storm… maybe… but it’d be waaay harder… and thusly… the only thing it would prove is that venom ISN’T nearly as good… And even if he did win a major with that team we would mostly see venom NOT go off in most of the games… and him instead winning on the merits of storm/sent.
Really venoms assist is only good if you are maintaining constant pressure which is damn near impossible against characters with 8 way air dashes… and AAA’s… this is b/c venom is SLOW with his assist. He comes out… it starts up… he flies at mediocre speed 3/4 of the screen… then goes into a pose… then leaves the screen… then you have a 1.5 or so second delay… then you can call him again. It’s not like psy/tron/mando where you tap the button and they immediately hit and then get the shit out of there.
Only thing I will concede easily is that venom/doom is reaaaaally good against sent/mando. it’s not brain dead… or pattern based… but all that chip you can do… the chip you are immune to… and the trumping of mando assist… is great. Just make sure you have meter to catch flying sent with venom web also and you can do well.
