Since the game is competitive, egos get hurt, trash-talking might get to people, and some people just can’t take losing like they should. I have not been to too many tournaments, but have their been any real life fights during matches, or are people basically controlled, cool, and mature during these events.
The reason I ask this was because I was playing last night, and this guy got upset because he was losing to my “shitty-turtle” Akuma. Whether I am a great player or a scrub, isn’t the point. But he was talking mad trash stating that online was laggy and in a real lag-free match, he would beat my ass in the game, then in the real world right after if I dared to ever come play him in an Orlando-based SF tourney. Then he told me the locations of these tournaments, and told me if I ever showed up he would beat my ass.
I am thinking he was only talking shit because he was behind his mic and not face to face, but have their been many fights at the larger tourneys? People tend to show their ass when anonymity is available behind Xbox Live, but I can’t imagine everyone being cool and mature especially at a fighting-event.
Theres a lot of internet gangsters. I remember Smooth Viper talking mad shit to me over XBL. Yet when we were at the same tournament he didnt say a word to me.
That’s what I figured would happen. Lot’s of shit talking when you are hiding behind the internet, and in real life, I can’t imagine too many people acting the same in front of them, or in front of a crowd of others.
There is nothing funnier than a bunch of internet warriors talking the big talk over a COMPUTER GAME on an INTERNET FORUM. Seriously, remember who/where you are you clowns
I always refer to them as keyboard commandos, Its unfortunate how the internet / online gaming brings out the worst in people but I suppose thats a totally diffrent topic.
no, because it’s a proven fact that when you’re 120 pounds and have arms the size of my wrists, you aren’t likely to say shit to me lol.
I’ve seen alot of SWEATING fights during tournaments, where the “pro” players (aka the over weight american people i have to deal with whenever i actually make it out to a tournament) start dripping their fluids all over each other because they’re getting so into the game that their bodies register it as more physical activity then they’re used to, and the sweat starts to flow freely.
I did witness one guy actually slam another guys stick on the ground after he lost. The owner of this stick proceeded to pick him up under his arms and slam him into the top of a chair, nearly head first. Twas a good time
Protip: Just because you can throw hadoukens and jump 15 feet in the air with an uppercut in a game, does not mean you can do it in real life. Watch you who fuck with
Back when Marvel vs capcom 2 came out, there was this arcade in new orleans called Pennyland; which was a 24/7 open arcade downtown. Ppl used to get into fights over marvel since a lot of ppl used to bet on games.
Old school stuff was sereous bidness for SF2. This place that used to be, Wizards, in Detroit. Some dude straight got shot over some bull ish. I mean, there was other things he propably got shot for but it all stemmed from the SF match. Unfortunatley the cade no longer exist.
There was another game that some people might remember, the Grid. An arcade FPS from Midway, people always be fighting outside over gambling, cheating and using MK characters. They also used to have a problem with SF2 fights in the early 90s. The arcade used to have weekend security but since then they have a new competitive game rule and it has become a kids birthday arcade. The place now only has lame games and interactive games like DDR n such.
i used to judge for YGO tournaments a long while back, it’s pretty funny to see a bunch of kids whos balls haven’t dropped yet start threatening other people lol.
I remember the one tournament i was judging where a fight actually broke out. This superrrrr skinny pimple faced kid started talking crap to this little fat kid (hehehe childhood obesity) who beat him (this was back when cyber dragon was at 3 lol). This fat kid was probably…oh god maybe 12 years old, the other kid was i think 17 or so (so in otherwords old enough to know better). I told them to knock it off and they did…for a bit. About 10 minutes later i see them going outside and i follow them. The older kid pushes the little fat kid down and says "that’s for beating me you asshole! (yes…to a 12 year old…), so i get inbetween them and grab this kid by his shirt and pull him away and say if he does that again i’m throwing him out of the tournament. Apparently he didn’t believe me because he decided it’d be a good idea to punch me in the chest. I look down at him and shake my head, and i backfist him right upside the head. He drops like a skinny bitch (which he was) and starts crying. His dad comes over and starts yelling at me and i tell him why i did it, and if he didn’t like it, he shouldn’t bring his little delinquent (yes i said delinquent lol) to a childs card game tournament. His dad i guess thought about it for a second and said “i didn’t know he was harassing a little kid, i’ll get him out of here.”
So the moral of the story is, when you’re 17 and weigh less then a 10 year old, you probably shouldn’t be trying to beat up other little kids that are alot younger then you, cause you might get backfisted in the face.
The other moral of the story is, no, most people do not talk the shit they talk in real life or follow through on threats, because either A. They’re pussies like we know they are, or B. They try to and get a back fist to the temple.
xD I’m actually built like and look like Ryu a little bit, believe me if i could actually be a sf character it’d be a dream come true lol, plus i do shotokan so yaaaaaaa
