Are the PSN version's issues being ignored?

I heard there was a patch to fix the ranked match issues, but I never saw a patch on PSN. I assume most people who are having a jolly good time with this game are playing the XBLA version, because the online experience for this game on PSN is still a mess, in my opinion. Most people I run into have either orange or red connections, yellow is more rare, and green is almost impossible to find. Before I join a room, the icon might be green, but when I actually get in there, no one in there has a green connection. Usually, it’s mostly red. I also get entirely disconnected from lobbies very frequently. Now, when I do get a good connection, boy is it good. It’s better than any other online fighting game, when it actually works… but that’s a rarity. I don’t believe it’s my internet’s fault, because I have 20 Mbps cable. That should be sufficient. It’s not my router’s fault, because all of the atrocious issues occur even when I connect my PS3 directly to the modem. I also don’t have this much trouble finding a decent connection in SSF4, for example, even though lag is far more visible in that game when it spikes during a fight. In SSF4, I can be doing my thing, then the screen freezes or stutters during a crucial moment and ruins the entire match. In 3SOE, when it’s good, it’s good. But when it’s bad, it’s bad. The screen shakes all over the place like an earthquake is happening as my opponent does the shifty back-and-forth walk. Does anyone have a stellar online experience with the PSN version? I’m beginning to believe Capcom doesn’t think the PS3 fanbase for this game is as much of a priority as the XBLA version.

The only patch they released for xbox didn’t change anything for me if this can be of any consolation.

The patch released for Xbox was for YouTube sharing. I do agree with the rarity of finding a yellow connection though.

I hate how the search results come back as garbage connections. I hope that when they do patch the game they also patch the music stopping midgame and the God damn x button in lobbies.

Even the offline is a mess for ps3. The timing is slightly off to a point where if you play on xbox and switch to ps3 you will notice. It’s sluggish just like SF4.

Both versions are fucking horrible atm for online play, I haven’t found a green connection yet, not even with people from my own country or around it. What’s even worse is making my own lobby and waiting 3 hours yet no body joined, that is definately not a problem on my end.

False statement. Never mind what you “notice”, there were tests done to debunk this. Both versions of the game have 4f of input lag. I don’t know whether or not it’s been established if the original CPS3 version had it too, but other Capcom arcade games have had inherent input lag.

Either way, XBox and PS3 versions are the same, offline.

^ This times infinity. There is no offline lag or input delay. Its completely fabricated and then trolled out by people that either dont own the game or are trying to blame the fact 3s requires stricter inputs than SF4 and their inability to do the combos on some made up claim about input delay.

man, i thought i was the only guy going through this shit. it makes no sense how your lobby can be open for damn near 24 hours and nobody won’t join.

I created lobbies on the stream numerous times and people were unable to find the room in any way whatsoever. It’s almost as if the room is hidden or just plain not visible at all. The only way to get the people to the stream was inviting one or two people in and then having everyone work as a team and invite others into the lobby. Quite annoying, imo.

EDIT: Players whom live 5 minutes away from me are unable to find the room itself.

What i also find discouraging is the fact that i can refresh the lobby searches a million times and come up with exactly the same ones that popped up the first time. There can’tpossibly only be 30 players on @ max

I also noticed that when searching for lobbies you always get the same 8 lobbies presented to you, it’s like they have a maximum or something and it fucking sucks. That too makes me doubt if I create lobby it will be visible when people search for one.

If anything the Xbox version has some of its own issues including how the youtube uploading is much more streamlined on PS3 than it is on Xbox. With PS3 you can upload and name your video to your own account as opposed to uploading it to some special account.

I haven’t tried Xbox Live to notice the difference in connections or anything but PSN is the normal deal. Red and orange connections means you’ll get teleporting and yellow/green means you’ll get pretty smooth connection. I prefer the GGPO teleporting over the slushy delay of the older netcodes because you can still input things mostly as you would offline. Only difference is sometimes shit will rewind. Easier for me to just auto pilot my commands and then just adjust to a rollback than have to adjust my timing constantly for delay. You don’t feel any instances where the game starts to move slower than it does naturally.

The things they need to fix are issues that are common with both systems. Like not being able to make one on one lobbies or lobbies that are available to less than 8 players without making the entire room private.

^^ FUCKING THIS. The lobbies are a total joke right now. And with ranked being as shit as it is only thing I can rely on to get some goddamn games in is by inviting the people on friends to play 3s with. I think the LOBBY system needs some real attention and not just the ranked but it seems Capcom has failed to recognize this thus far. I hope they step their shit up and bring out some patches to make this game playable now that it’s down from GGPO and all.

I went and created a suggestion box on Capcom Unity. Hopefully, Capcom will focus on this harder if we can get enough votes on this. In order to find the thread, on the top left, change your search filter to ALL > StreetFighter and you’ll see the suggestion marked with the title “Third Strike Online Multiplayer Mode [PSN]”.
Here’s the link to the Suggestion box:
Third Strike Online Multiplayer Mode Fix!

They both share the same amount of input delay (4). its in your head unless you are using different tv sets with each console. As for ps3 and xbl issues, they are the same. All of my friends are crying about it on xbox and ps3 just as equally

Upvoted, hope this might get their attention. I’m blind with rage at the moment.

I think something Capcom needs to do in the future is just largescale betatesting before they release their products. You just can’t try out stuff like this in a little lab or on the small scale that they seem to try things out when it comes to netplay.

Straight up. Upvote that hard. There’s no reason why the PSN community should be ignored. Capcom needs to “UP OUR GAME, DAMMIT!”

My guess for the room search coming up with the same result frequently has something to do with that “NAT” color code system they have going on? I didn’t quite get it when the pop up display for it first starting, I haven’t bothered to look through menus to find it again, or more information on it.

I, too, haven’t had anybody join my Player Match lobbies aside from people I’ve invited. A few times I tried to create a lobby with 6 private slots with the idea that the lobby would be just me + 2 other people because I honestly don’t want to wait my turn with 7 other guys, especially when they’re all just Ken’s mashing uppercuts, but since nobody joined those I thought that it won’t let random players inside 'till the private slots are taken. But apparently not since I can’t get people to come in even without private slots. I’m also begining to wonder if there’s some kind of lobby limit because every time I try refresh the lobbies, they’re exactly the same. The only time I got random folk to join my lobby was when I created a 4-player Tournament lobby.

Alright, so maybe the XBLA version isn’t perfect either, but what I’m generally hearing around the internet is that Xbox 360 users don’t have as much trouble finding decent matches. That could be wrong, though. All I know is it seems to me that Capcom released a broken piece of software and needs to fix it ASAP. I don’t like to whine too much, but I bought ONLINE EDITION to play online, and honestly, even for some reason when it seemed to be working fine for the first couple of days (maybe because a massive volume of players were online and eager to play – more connections to choose from), now I can barely find a satisfactory connection with anyone at all. I’m always losing connection to other players either while waiting my turn or while in the middle of a fight, and when I am fighting, the quality of the connection is almost always less than acceptable. If anyone from Capcom is reading this, please jump on it.
