I want to know because these mangas are pretty good story wise , I wanted to know if they translated over to games well,
No. Just beat on the other guy until they fall. No skill involved. There’s one rule when dealing with shonen anime games (especially from no-name companies like ESP): Since it’s based on a small-name anime (not wildly popular among all ages, with tons of merchandise, IE Naruto, DBZ), you can be sure it’s a cash-run game, with little to no gameplay.
Victorious Boxers 1 and 2 for the PS2 are great. The one on the Wii blows. End of story.
damn if only Baki had a good game
The PSP version of Victorious Boxers is the most recent, and the best one gameplay wise. It’s got replay functions & all that good stuff too.
Baki has a game but from what I’ve seen there are countless easymode infinites and shit
I’ve heard very good things about Victorious Boxer series, some people still call the PS2 version the best boxing game- though it doesn’t look to be anything like the manga. Given the current state of Ippo, that might be a good thing.
For the Ippo stuff (like the game and what people think) Dynamite Glove forums might be your best bet. (also it’s the Ippo SRK pretty much) they’re not too happy over there right now though.
Mori’s last two big fights got them all salty.
Don’t know anything about the other two.
There’s a fan-made one in the works that looks WAY better than the licensed ones:

yeah agree. victorious boxers 2 is still my favorite boxing game. you should try it out. it’s really good
That game is on indefinite hiatus, he’s doing school or something instead.
Victorious Boxers 1 & 2 are just as good boxing as they are HnI-based games. Haven’t tried Victorious Road, but I’d get that for the Punch-Out knockoffs alone.
The Victorious Boxers series is decent. Every iteration is one step closer to a playable boxing game. The PSP version is the best as they FINALLY allowed you to be able to manually block (if only it didn’t take 3 punches to break it :-/ including jabs). Give it two or three more releases and I’m sure it will be vs playable. I do enjoy the lack of hud as you have to visually adjust to the stamina drops in boxers.
As for the Mugen game, it is on hiatus, the programmer and producer have legal reasonings as to why they couldn’t continue it for the time being.
Baki: Kinda clunky, and the hitstun is way too long on moves, making for easy one button infinites
Garouden: Can get kinda cluttered, but it’s not just mindless bashing and forth until the guy falls, there are lots of moves you can pull, it’s just that the “whack until the other falls” strategy is just as effective as some of the more advanced systems. Also, Garouden has problems with character balance, as unlike Rhio would lead you to believe, they actually did pay attention to the source material, unfortunantely a little too much, as the characters strengths are relative to how they are in the series.(Shozan Matsuo for instance is ungodly broken, same as Yuujirou who appears as a guest in this game), though honestly, victorious boxers has this problem too, especially with Ricardo Martinez.
victorious boxers 1 & 2 are delicious, but the american vb 2 is really victorious boxers all-stars, the real vb 2 has the boxer’s road mode that is > *.
edit: Also since there are some tough fans:

^One of the few fighters with a dedicated grappling system(that’s a non ufc/pride based game)
Victorious Boxers 2 is a good game. All characters have their signature moves except for a few (no Bryan Hawk punches :(). The game’s too unbalanced for competitive play, though. On the other hand, the boxers’ strengths and weakness are accurate if you’re looking for authenticity.
If you’re looking for a decent fighting game based on a manga/anime, check out Bleach DS 2.
yea the only " " anime fighting game thats not victorious boxers to have hajime no ippo chars in it is this one here
its on the psp
Hajime No Ippo 2 Victorious Road is a Dope ass immersive game. Garouden is fun as shit and suprisingly deep when playing with a person who knows how to play. The learning curve of Garouden isnt steep at all as all the moves are F+Punch DF+Punch Etc. The most difficult thing about garouden is figuring out the context for each chars special “chain” moves.
