The fact that this shit gets upvoted, makes me think this place if full of retards.
Hell, I prefer retro games/consoles. My N64 could have a Large 38 inch CRT TV land on it and it would still work, you can look at a Xbox 360 funny and it break.
With a few exceptions it was hard to break a old school console.
It also used to be once a Game got published that is it, no way to update or patch fix anything.
It’s too late to patch a game once it made it to cartridge.
I also think Today’s gamers are too spoiled and complacent.
They will bitch, alot, but todays gamers do nothing more than that.
Back in the day if a company did something really stupid, you justs top buying there shit.
Look how quickly the Atari (Multiple times), 3DO, Laser Active, Coleco, Apple’s Pippin and Intellivision died
most of these people playing games are losers always have been always will be… nothings really changed they die in the game but the show goes on and on

heck, there are a loads of great games out there that also get shit on every now and then.

i think it’s because the quality of games has dropped off immensely. you used to get 100% completed games on release with no noticeable bugs or glitches and high polish. now everything is released in beta form with patches and DLC coming in later to finish the game (if it actually ever gets to a finished state).
I concur, especially with the steady degradation of quality.
When Braid came out, most of the negativity stemmed from the short length/replay value of the game and how much the game cost.
Other than that, the game was faultless in it’s execution.
Dependence on DLC and updates is the worst thing that has happened to videogaming in general and it’s amazing when a lot of gamers complain about the poor quality but it’s pretty much the norm right now.

Make an informed decision on your video game purchase. If you can complain about “muh DLC or l00t boxes ruin games!” then your ass can google up good games that don’t have all that you hate. Plus like most have said here The Internet has given whiners more voice in their own echo chamber.
I think it has more to do with with memories that illicit strong responses from the limbic system. When you fall in love with something or have a strong positive feeling attached to a certain experience, you try to replicate it. Negative experiences associated with trying to recapture the magic create a contradiction that causes compartmentalization of the original experience and the new experience with polar opposite emotional associations. With some exceptions, unless you have that bias you only experience indifference in response to new negative experiences (unless they happen to be traumatizing).

They are too busy trying to nickel and dime everyone and pushing for shit that didn’t establish the industry in the first place. These people have no clue about this industry (they didn’t build this shit-we did!)-all they see dollars signs and are way outside of their circle of competence. The same analysts that were saying that Nintendo was finished (during the Wii U years) in every sell-side research report they could get published-are now saying buy Nintendo because of growth.
